heh, Universe Sandbox is funny. Start it up, ready for tutorial. "Here we have Earth, our home, cradle of civilization, etc. LET'S THROW CERES AT IT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS!"
mad science
das dwarf
I can see it now. . .digging a tunnel through a mountain, popping out on top of it, and breaking out into a yodeling session. followed by beer and lots of accordions.

So correct me if I am wrong but did NMS Voyagers steal the ship building from starfield???
My understanding is that NMS Voyagers is significantly better than Starfield's, but I never got Starfield so IDK
im waiting for starfield go go on sale for 20 bucks before i buy it.
NMS is actually being tested to be used in Light No Fire. It is what they are going to use for the boat building.
So I have both and the ship building is very similar yeah but starfield has more variety of pieces. But NMS mechanics are waaay better
thats going to be crazy
Yeah, every NMS update recently has really looked like prep for LNF. I'm really excited to see that game come out, even if it's in an early state.
And they called out the Voyagers update as being prep for medieval style ships that require multiple players to crew in LNF
i dont like the voyager update, so i hope LNF has more than that superficial build system
like... you're game developers for 13 years and that's all you can come up with?
i'll be busy having actual fun in space engineers 2 looks like
unless LNF offers a better build system or at least something else in the other gameplay aspects that is worthy
I mean "all you can come up with" is probably not true. I'd wager it's more like a "first pass implementation"
Any suggestions on similar games to enshrouded while waiting for water updates? Me and my friends need sth to treat the itchiness…
Portal Knights
I am building a ferris wheel in enshrouded. I thought I'd share my boundless version...the number of deaths to build this is astronomical
wonder when the update hits and dynamic water is added in if things like that will be able to move with the flowing water.
Hell yeah Megabonk!
Too busy RPing Fuedal Japan but I would def be playing this if I wasnt haha
I too have been enjoying the bonk
the truth about samuari and their "code" is so funny.
what? that they where actualy feudal lords, cruel politician leaders instead of the noble pictured iron willed warriors of fantasy storys? 😅
that the code of bushido was invented long after their actual original roles had run their course
that bushido was only invented to keep their cushy seats.
i think bushido is the right word.
it was invented in a time of peace.
bushido aka the credo of the warrior or way of the warrior... yes very different from what samurai actualy where and represented.
Most people see them in the same romantic light as they see knights. even though both where actually quite similar in ranks and function... and cruelty
indeed
i am not well versed in the truth behind chivalry though. not sure if it was a "later thing" or not.
chivalry... thats a whole different story and honestly only a very fancy word that only got its "modern meaning" way later aswell
(i still like both "romantic" fantasy concepts though ^^)
naaahhh not realy
knights wherent actualy fighters perse
some fantasy is pretty cool.
they where landlords, vasalls of lords and kings.
knight was never much more than a nobles title
the whole fighting thing came only to be much later with the crusades and stuff
anyway. sorry for strayin so far offtopic in the wrong channel cough
its relavant enough.
Wait next you're going to tell me that cowboys werent rugged gunslingers dogooding around the old west
wow yall sound fun at parties

Free roam the stages whilst your friend struggles to find their way through Astral Stair, or maybe see if you can all survive Room 1665… More play...
More or less it was created to give samurai a place during time of peace in order to keep them under control. Bushido roots do come from samurai "code" pre Edo though
Same. It makes for good stories XD
i hope megabonk makes it sound track purchasable
I should stay away from Planet Coaster 2. 1 was my main game for years. Also I made a haunted barn.
<@&1059853133188169910> this okay?

🤔

No way. That is so sad x.x
ya, he's kind of an idiot sometimes. XD

All I can say is the best joker was Mark Hammil and my favorite joker is Ceaser Romero.

i need someone to play torchlight 2 with lol
christ so much ai slop this year god damn
😭
speaking of AI slop, the game Fate was remastered recently, and one of the things they did for some non-English content was add voiceovers. AI generated voiceovers. lots of complaints in the Steam reviews about that, and they apparently pulled it afterwards.
i did find a gem though
Before a sequel can be great, it must first be tested. Repeatedly, Infront of a group of complete strangers.
This is The Outer Worlds 2 Focus Group – where the “Head of Sequels” and his panel of volunteers bravely explore the boundaries of personal space, T-shirt cannons, and the inappropriate use of gift cards.
Some call it research...
i will forever be sad about where the torchlight series went after tl2....
MMORPG was an odd direction to take
tl infinite was the worst arpg ive ever played
tl3 wasnt terrible. there was a lot i liked. but the gameplay was deeply unsatisfying.
what the hell skate has a battle pass now
so battlepass is something you buy?
i think if it is, i actually i hate that, i hate battlepasses
im a completionist, but also a casual player
battlepass is like the anti-thesis of that combination
forces me to play within a certain time period? like even if i had time to play i wouldn't if i knew it was on their schedule, just out of principle. 😆
and then also having to buy access to that to get all items
this is why i will never touch POE or Diablo 4
it's like a " be addictied and have no life " model for gaming

Everwind is a novel take on RPG and Sandbox Survival genre in First-Person-Perspective. Embark on the adventure with your friends - Build a base on a flying island-ship, gather resources, craft, loot, and fight while you rise above the clouds to uncover...
everthing is great so far
Are those COINS in your inventory?
the airship keeps crashing my game 😆. nvm the whole game has issues with crashing and it seams other people have issues with crashing as well.
its everwind
looks beautiful, and nice music. friend crashed when he tried the demo and i didn't. but the only thing is i can't tell what there is to do after you get the flying ship and go to a few islands... because it's a demo... you don't get any idea of the scope of the gameplay with a demo... which is probably why i never try demos. i just wait until a game releases in EA, and check a gameplay video out and decide if the game has future potential or not. the demo was actually less informative than that.
i mean full release is so close
i might as well wait until then before buying
1.5 year for full release? is that gonna be enough content 😄
they could keep milking content like NMS
perpetual game dev cycle
I think so.
they said in the question interview that they will release more content after full release
ill keep an eye on this game it has potential
but the demo definitely is too early to tell, unless you have insane trust in the dev team
which you can only get info on the dev team if you're following their process and are in the discord
and then you can sort of tell how reliable they are
if you have previous experience with EA games that is
hytale looked so good
Reuploaded as the original has been set to private.
#SaveHytale
i can't beleive these different devs for hytale cancelled their game 🤣
it looks like they have content made with this video? they should have just released it for the community to finish the game.
theres a whole deep dive story behind hytale. still ongoing
yeah? it's too bad, it looked really good

"Finally" but probably a year or two too early, is my guess.
If you're going to have a subscription fee these days, you need to really overdeliver on player's expectations
or just do what Ship of Heroes did and pick the worst possible subscription method for a game not named WoW and commit video game suicide.
Ship of Heroes kinda dug its own grave, for sure. They started from a premise that was going to be REAL hard to deal with. Making a superhero game when you'd have to license all the superhero things from Marvel/DC was going to be impossible, so their visuals had to be "we have superheroes at home" and that's a very tough sell to players who are naturally going to want to make things that resemble their favorite heroes.
so the EULA of risk of rain 2 is pretty ugly, like one of the worst of many offenders "you're not allowed to class action lawsuit us." why was this necesary? what did you DO?!

i've been playing the painkiller demo. the gameplay reminds me of vermintide 2 except ranged weapon focused and with platforming elements
really thinking about grabbing this. im and old arkanoid fan and this is giving me similar vibes
Its very addictive like Loop Hero. Base building roguelite combined with brick breaker gameplay feels very fresh. Adding upgrades to classic arcade hits the dopamine pretty good haha

i heard a rumor from someone that we may actually get spears
It would make sense. Spears are a super strong weapon type that are very distinct from other types of weapons. And they could easily have 1H and 2H versions
These guys are pumping out content. It's awesome.
Well, spears are polearms, so 😝
😛
@vague galleon what would be so bad with adding early fire arms to enshrouded?
yeah but part of that is predicated on the fact that they dont fix qol, bugs, or add new mechanics to ship building/base building... because they likely have engine limitations and don't want to dive that deep into the code.
so imo we're getting content that's a compromise from what would really be cool
like fast content isnt always ideal, lots of games do it, and i still play the game 5 years later for 1 month to catch up and then dip out for another 5 years. which is equivalent to taking 5 years to release an update ironically.
plus lots of content being added in a short time can feel overwhelming to people too
like NMS is updating within a framework but i'd rather they keep editing the framework to make the game better in a meaningful way - also there must be a reason they cant stomp out a bug for 8 years.
i had a lot of fun with this demo its called fumes

Not sure if anybody will know this but in the nms breach expedition do you build a new corvette or do bring the one you already built?
you build a new for one of the mile stones
thank you
Expeditions always have a set parameter for what you start with. If you used your main save to do the expedition, you can go back to the Anomaly and in the expedition console there is an option to bring your live, active ship, or multitool, into the expedition with you. It does cost nanites to do it though.
for some reason v rising doesnt interest me
dont you basically play an evil person?
or is there a way to be a good vampire and not feed on/murder civilians?
oh v rising doesn't even frame moral choices into the game, which probably leaves it feeling empty for me, like some action game mostly.
plus im a castlevania fan
i lean more into stopping vampires, not helping them get stronger
therefore i can stop this vampire by refusing to play the game 😆

Really great game. Offers good pve and pvp experience which is a plus!
thats another thing i've basically sworn off pvp since 1999 soooo... it's like half the game design went into something i will never touch.
the only way i get into pvp is a gank squad of 10 people keeping kill me 10 vs 1
and so i make a 200 player guild and steamroll them
only them
and just keep recruiting until i can steamroll them
Its one of the few games that does both justice. You can completely play V Rising pve only and its a fantastic time

though keep in mind the graphics style is way "simpler" than enshroudeds due to style choise (but it works so damn well at least for me) world is HUUUGE (keep in mind though its procedurally generated so not as intricate and detailed as enshroudeds pois) battelsystem is simple. but works well. has a super active modding community (try epic loot. its amazing)
Thank you! I've been meaning to give valheim a try, I don't mind the graphics. I've just been a bit intimidated to give it a shot honestly.
take your time. realy..just take in the vibe and enjoy the journey. its an amazing game
Will do! Thank you for the recommendation!
this might not be the exact same style of game, but have you tried Ark? (ark survival evolved, or ark survival ascended if your hardware allows it) exploration is a huge part of it. there's several huge maps, build anywhere (including on top of a brontosaurus) 200-ish creatures that can be tamed and most of them ridden, character and creatures can travel between maps.. can be played as single player, difficulty is very customizable so it can be a somewhat chill sandbox exploration game

It has it's problems, but there's a reason I've spend over 3000 hours playing it.
corvette built
valheim. Me and my friends did Valheim -> Enshrouded -> VRising. All super fun and unique in their own ways. I think exploration valheim takes the cake though (sailing the open seas is a laugh)
ark is the reason why one of my gaming groups calls me the dilpho daddy and another has banned me from ever having compys
dilpho daddy one is because I thought it was a good idea to breed an army of dilphosaurus for transport and well the compy one lets just say having 30 plus compy is a war crime
V rising I kinda want to try but not into the blood sucking 😱
If you're not interested in vampires, V Rising is definitely not the game to try 😝
changed to a more appropriate outfit
I actually hate vampires and poked fun at it thematically. Despite this I played it on brutal with my friends and the gameplay was extremely solid.
Don't conflict it with the ease of more survival crafts though.. this has elements of survivalcraft.. but felt a lot more like Path of exile / dark souls / boss hunting and practice.
I loved it

i'm all for pimping your pc but this seams unnecessary
I just read that article
My hot take is that amazon should never have gotten into games in the first place. The corporate cost:ROI will never be high enough unless you hit some fortnite gold. But to do that you have to have actually passionate/creative people and importantly let them cook. Which a big company like Amazon is just never gonna let them do.
I'm sure there are plenty of talented and passionate game devs at amazon who could create amazing things, if given the time and resources to do so.
mhm
you need people plus the golden forumla that was used for eve online, wow, fortenite ect
"What it takes to build a successful MMO" is something I spend a fair amount of time thinking about, heh
“Best known”.
That’s certainly.. a take.
This. Despite what devs who cared about the games wanted, Amazon never treated NW as a game and instead as any of their other products. It was never going to be profitable enough to them because they expected it to be something else entirely different from what it was.
It was easy to see that Amazon should never have gotten into games if you ever tested any game for them in a closed setting
Some of those early New World playtests were very bad, heh
Part of me wishes another dev team would pick it up, if possible, but I don't know the logistics or even reality behind an undertaking of that extent
Impossible. Even if they are killing it, no chance Amazon lets anyone else have the IP
I unfortunately agree

We’ve not seen a more hyped Extraction game in a very long time, maybe ever. Honestly it’s well deserved, ARC Raiders is doing something special.
Yes. Very fun!
I am currently enjoying it.
is the pvp optional?
Technically no, but it's easy to avoid pvp combat mostly if you're smart about listening for gunshots and stuff.
It's an extraction shooter, so PvP is kinda core
as neat as it looks i'm going to pass
id check it out if it was pve, pvpve is not for me.
That's totally fair, it's not a genre for everyone.
ya. one reason i was never big imto free for all but prefered teams.
less getting shot in the back.
You would be surprised but the community is pretty carebear for solo queues. More than likely for random strangers to work together or at the very least not shoot eachother. Groups are mostly pvp
You have proximity and group chat and people are pretty friendly
I have not had that experience 😝
Everyone I encountered when soloing last night was KOS except one guy
Did you shoot first? 🥲
Nope
Sounds nice
I tried to take an elevator with a dude and he blasted me
But I do the smart thing and never take anything good into solos, only starter gear basically.
After talking?!
after reading this I'm now waiting for the reddit story about some poor fool whotires to jump a group of care bears and get wrecked for their effort
If i find a short ill link it
i might get arc raiders on xbox

Interestingg
I did a bunch of solo runs last night, it's pretty hit or miss. Lots of people using the "Don't shoot" emote and are friendly, but just as many will KOS
So it's hard to really play it safe. I snuck into other people's elevators a few times, which is always a bit stressful feeling 😝
But overall, I'm loving it.
im glad NMS lets you cheat in expeditions
being on their schedule to do an expedition feels like battlepass grindfest
i don't know why games think time limits are a good idea
tooo bad everything looks stupid (like actual looks not gameplay), but maybe it cuts down on performance (improves it) when your graphics are dolls.
can a bigger zombie, really throw a smaller zombie, into your windmill, and the wind mill will break and roll away?
or is that false advertising
stupid game trailers, you don't know what is real anymore
anooooother extraction game, the genre i don't even like
why is he calling them creatures
they are robotic
i mean nintendo cant own an idea, what did they expect? that only they can make monster capture games? even if that were true, this should be shut down and taken away from nintendo. no company should have that much claim on an idea.
they should pay palworlds legal fees too
and give them money for wasting their time too
I think emote and talking with coms helps a lot. Also I put my weapon away to signal that im not about to shoot on site
One of my runs, I ran into a guy and he was like dont shoot and we teamed up together and ran into two other guys who were like "Friend or foe?!" We thought we were being baited for a sec but it turns out they were friendly and the four of us extracted together XD
foe = a friendly doe
i would obviously tell them i am foe
i would open up dialogue by doing dad puns
surely nobody would shoot me
as you are walking along you meet 2 strangers "friend or foe?" they ask. you respond in an 8 year old shrieking voice "FRIEND! HEY GUYS I JUST LOVE THIS GA... suddenly a hail of bullets proceeds to hit you from their direction.
those 8 year olds can get no break
tbh this is why i dont play PVP games, i cant resist trolling everyone i meet with words
someone should do a study of how many times they get shot when using 12 year old voice, regular voice, and sultry woman voice.

00:00 Best New PC Games Coming in October 2025
Best NEW Games:
00:07 Where Winds Meet ...
Watched it earlier, my response was "wow am I going to be playing a lot of ark raiders this month" lol
IDK any releases that I'm excited for coming up, sadly
the only ones im interested in are all ldc releases. Enshrouded, Planet Crafter, and Astroneer all release new dlc this month within days of each other.
@timber prism Now, I'm not usually much for crossovers, but I just had the thought of an Arc Raiders X Horizon Zero Dawn crossover.
-Dino Arc enemies
-Bow weapon with different arrow ammo types
-New breaching tool that looks like Aloy's spear
-Cosmetics, obviously
This would be pretty cool!!!
I just want Robot Dinosaur games 😢 I don't know if the HZD survival game is even in development any more.
I really need to revisit that IP
It's such a cool world
Its unfortunate how it got overshadowed by other releases
Bbl. Omw to watch the new Chainsaw Man movie

i dont like extraction games
so i'm turning your robot dinosaur game into a survival builder
where you build your own robot dinosaur
and then fight other dinosaurs
No complaints here, I love that type of game too
both real dinosaurs, and robot ones
you fight them with your built dinosaur
though i dont know how far you can take that concept
becuase you would need good build ideas that allow decent freedom
but also that don't become too wacky
so i would need to do a lot of dinosaur research to find out how many viable parts there are and combinations.
I mean, you'd treat different dino "chassis" (like stego vs trex) as different vehicle types with different styles and availability of attachment points, so you could slot different weapons and enhancements to make differnet builds of dinos work
You'd have fast, mobile types that are "motorcycles" (Raptor, Gallimimus, etc) with fewer attachment points, but fast. And then raptors might have a special ability where they can grab onto enemies, vs Gallimimus could have a super sprint...
IDK honestly the game kinda writes itself.
"Tanks" (Stego, Triceratops, Ankylosaurus)
"Carriers" (Bronto, Diplo)
"War Machines" (Rex, Giga)
choose dino type, build dino, customize dino, unlock parts and upgrades
could even have vegetation dinos as work types - to collect resources better
Yeah, and like certain weapon types would work on certain dinos, etc.
that's ark survival evolved
You can't really customize the tech dinos in Ark though
disney beat you to the punch but instead of a game they made a show

Kinda wild going from Avowed directly to Enshrouded when they share such fundamental plot themes.
Avowed was so fun 🥰
hello
thinking about playing some fallout 4 again.
smiles in 2,500+ hours
Mods saved that game, that's all I can say lol
gameplay is good. i like having bases.
otherwise its pretty flawed.
But it also make my most accurate "Clover" (my long term RP character) yet as appearance goes, and the rest was history haha.
i played the demo for Chronos the dawn
2500 in fallout 4?
and endalrin has 300?
that's laughable
because i have like 70 hours or less
this is the fallout i liked, i have 145 hours
oh i see more than i thought, must have gained some on my recent attempt to play the game 2 years ago. when i discovered how bad the building system is compared to modern games.
you need like 100 mods to fix that building system it's soooo bad
i do like all the exosuit stuff in fallout 4, but i somehow found the main story boring or at least having a hiccup in how interesting it is mid way through, maybe it gets interesting again, but i could never pass the more boring part?
i think thats 114 hours of side quests and exploring the map
I like what they have done with Skyrim and mods.
Novlus has changed tongs as far as graphics and gameplay.
i do most look forward to a new skyrim game
or better yet a DND game set in one of the other universes
There are a lot of other cool D&D settings than the Sword Coast, for sure
Spelljammer, Dark Sun, and Eberron could all be incredible
is there a salivating emoji?
🤤
ahh yes
today i found out you can reply to people WITHOUT pinging them
i was like WHAT, and why the heck is ping on by default? and no setting to turn it off entirely.
with dark games like path of exile they could totally do a dark sun game
Thats honestly why I'd choose one of the other ones. I feel like "dark fantasy" is super oversaturated right now.
funny you all mention DnD type games when this got announced today

another pillars?
oh turn based pillars. i dont like that playstyle
i prefer real time pause
me and my friend were actually talking about real time vs turn based
anyway basically we decided we prefer action over turn based
this is better takes less space
rather i should say i like turn based, but i prefer action pause over it. turn based is still nice, i loved final fantasy tactics etc.
It should be a setting on the receiving end, like do I want to get pinged on replies.
i dont see it
Oh I don't think is IS a setting there, but it should be
what about real time with a time slow down mechanic?
why wouldn't you want to be pinged on replies? o.O
oh a mod in another discord didn't like it even though 20 people were talking in the discord so i was like "how am i supposed to show i am responding to you?" and they let me know about the disable ping response. even though in retrospect its obvious, but i guess my brain didn't notice the button/forgot about it.
to be fair i also think pings are annoying, i tend to mute all servers, and i also dont usually like @ tting people, so it makes sense for me to use the no ping reply - just it takes getting used to doing it.
How about this ill leave that post here and just repost it in the correct channel will that be ok cross

is ur brother even on this server?
No
only like 20 people talk here, but in self promo people might go there specifically to discover new things. and you're allowed to post non eshrouded stuff
But I figured posting and asking never hurts clearly im mistaken

Seeing some self-promo from people who otherwise do not engage with our community at all lately, so it's worth repeating the rules:

they are a community member
but the streamer isnt. and their streams arent

that makes you a community member, you can post your brothers stuff, you basically live in same house. 🤣

otherwise everyone can go ahead and push their favourite content creator

SKALDSONG!
omg, im so in love with "isometric" games, since my introduction to V rising and specially Titan Quest 2 which ive been playing this month over 20h in its EA version and i still cant believe how gorgeous and detailed TQ2 scenery is (remind me of Anno 1800 detailing), with interesting greek mythology storytelling to boost - ive dreamt of the next Elder Scrolls 6 to be exactly designed like TQ2.
TQ2 - my storm/warfare char... i´m starting a rerun this time with storm/earth (but always, always choosing those ice shards, of course)
I truly love that game
cant wait for final version of this 3-Acts EA version ⚔️
I played Earth/Warfare and it was a blast, I just used Earthquake and blew up the whole screen every time I needed to do damage
i know right? who needs 2 skills... im the same, only 1 skill but the ice - i will try your earthquake next !!! 👍🏻
bustling world looks amazing... 🇨🇳 lets check reviews 🤔
So, does it actually feel line the old TQ? Or does Grim Dawn still do it better
i didnt play TQ1 - its next on list !!! cant compare yet but i guess version 2 is better IMO
Played Grim Dawn? Because for all intents and purposes it is "we developed the original Titan quest but we don't have the rights to it so here's "Totally Not Titan Quest" set in a completely new world after a magipocalypse
Honestly one of the best ARPGs out there
i liked grim dawn well enough. loot system was way better.
lol
I actually like this look. NMS has very few overall looks that I like

why does this matter?
Why does a console that plays all your steam games matter?
and an OS system that is not linux or windows.
From a company that is privately owned and not publicly traded (so doesn't have to worry about it's stock price or any of that shenanigans.)
I think one of the things that actually keeps Steam as top dog as far as digital storefronts is that they have zero incentive to enshittify their store to make people spend more money. They don't have a feduciary responsibilty to make as much money as humanly possibel for their shareholders, so they can focus on only making improvements that are actually improvements.
why would they have to do anything anyway. steam can just sit there and wait till all others enshittify their storefronts and everyones back on steam again...
steam dont do shit. and win with that
basically it only matters if you dont have a super powerful pc like i have
budget PC option to play high end games on medium settings i guess
and OS that is not linux or windows, to remove bloat, to gain performance that might be negligible if you have a 3080ti and 5950x processor.
though i admit it would be nice if microsoft could release a tinyXP version of windows11 officially.
so i dont need 85 useless services running in the background
they are trying to make as much as money as possible
their store gives off electronic arts vibes
not sure what you are talking about

There's a big difference between "trying to make as much money as possible" and "legally obligated to make as much money as possible as fast as possible", which is the difference between a private and public company.
steam is trying to get you to spend as much money as possible, the fact that people dont feel that or recognize it, means they are doing a good job, and a good job of fooling people. that's why i started making a list of how much i spend on games each year.
and i gave myself a budget of 150 a year
and ironically because they are doing such a good job, they don't need to push people to buy things.. but yah everything is designed so you buy and spend more and find more things to buy.
I mean, yeah that's kind of key to a marketplace. But what I mean is they don't have an exterior entity pushing them to absolutely get as much money as fast as possible, which other storefronts like Microsoft and EA have. That usually results in a lot of anti-consumer practices that aren't just about getting people to spend money, but about TRICKING them into spending more money than they intend to.
yeah.. but they are all pretty much using the same tactics
like how isn't steam tricking people? but EA or microsoft is in their store front?
Epic games is a private owned company too
but they suck
so....
😆
Yeah but that's just terribly UI, not s hady practices 😝
i understand what you mean though
private companies can innovate, take more risks, and plan for long term growth success.
public companies need to please shareholders quarterly.
otherwise stock price drops and they lose value in the company.
which can lead to rushed development of things, and therefore lesser quality or bad decisions (though typically less risky decisions) and priority of short term over longer term.
Yeah, exactly. Private companies avoid that spiral
That's a pretty cool helmet
is not console really
it has steam os but you can install windows or linux on it too its just a hardware machine)
so it works as a pc too
its a pc which runs steamOS at base
it kinda sucks tho
well realisticaly for the price its pretty good
made for 60fps 4K which is just gonna be done with an upscaler
Imagine u hate crafting time and playing 2 others games so u don't get bored
steamos is linux based i think
just get mint linux
most similar to windows and no need to be a brainlord
hmm. and it plays all my steam games?
Prob not all but most of them. And for the not working ones you prob need to google for a workaround. If its about apps tho like creator stuff like photoshop etc, you will struggle a lot with troubleshooting
i just need internet and steam really.
(or you can swap it for trash alternatives ofc but they all bad tbh)
and pdfs
Well then you will prob be fine lol
sometimes i like to play old pc games from the 90s.
I think this is a "Soon" thing... Bazzite is good too, but I've been using my Steam deck on a dock with monitors as a development computer, using the KDE interface, and i love SteamOS as an OS
pimp my exocraft
i wish you could be a part of frigate expeditions that would be fun

My girlfriend and I are looking for games like Enshrouded with crossplay (she's on PS5). Smallands is her fave game because of that. We've also done Abiotic Factor and Medieval Dynasty. Any others in a similar genre?
She'd love to play Enshrouded with me but can't for obv reasons 🙁
ps5 fun coop games with crossplay
baldurs gate 3
borderlands
split fiction
crossplay is sadly suck
buy her a steam hardware when it releases
and share library
last night, i dreamt that Bethesda had created the Elder Scrolls 6 ( **or was it a remake of Skyrim V **??? ) in an isometric 3rd-person graphical ARPG style ( similar to Titan Quest II ) 💦
out of curiousity, has anyone here noticed a game called Skyclimbers? It's a game I kickstarted at least a year or two ago and it's not out to the public yet, but I'm curious if anyone else had backed it.
it looks interesting and I hope they do well.

how can it be isometric and also 3rd person 🤔
Isn't isometric always third person????
not really
it's associated more with fixed camera angle
Isometric perspective is typically associated with a fixed camera angle that shows a 3D effect, often used in third-person views, but it is not exclusively third-person. It can also be used in games that feature 2D graphics, where the viewpoint is angled to create a pseudo-3D appearance.
or from the wiki
Isometric video game graphics are graphics employed in video games and pixel art that use a parallel projection, but which angle the viewpoint to reveal facets of the environment that would otherwise not be visible from a top-down perspective or side view, thereby producing a three-dimensional (3D) effect.
Gotcha. I thought third person just meant not through the eyes of your character
Not specific to a certain camera angle
Thanks
like i mistakenly thought kerbal space program was isometric because its third person, but then i looked it up and its a dynamic camera angle 3d game
yeah third person is defined as "as long as you are looking at your character it's third person" (from just looking it up now)
so a top down game = third person
side scroller? third person lol
Yeah. Anything not first person
Most third-person games ARE NOT isometric, because they use dynamic 3D cameras with perspective.
that was kerbal space program
and my mistake i made with assuming its isometric
So.... isometrics are third person then
Since they are not first person. The angle has nothing to do with it being considered third person
Or it your AI not saying something is third person bc isometric can be 2.5D?
it says
2D gameplay + 3D graphics:
The game looks 3D (models, lighting, depth), but the actual movement is limited to a 2D plane.
= 2.5D example: trine3D gameplay + 2D visual viewpoint:
The game world is 3D, but the camera is fixed in a way that makes it look like 2D or isometric, often using an orthographic camera.
=2.5D example: diabloFake 3D in a 2D engine:
Some older games used technical tricks to simulate 3D within a 2D engine.
=2.5D example: DOOM
isometric can be 2D , 2.5D or 3D. or a mix of 2D and 3D. which = 2.5D i guess

hope Keen gets mentioned ⬆️
i mean, game hasnt hit 1.0 yet.
considering how good games like claire obscure get ignored by different awards... i dont give a rats a.... about those anymore.most of em are bought anyways
i dont remember the last time i looked.
it didnt get ignored
its obscure, so they respected the title
if the game was named claire obvious probably would have won all the awards
i wanna compliment u on the pun... reeelay do.
but its sadly not a joke
but ur technically right. it didnt get ignored. it was straight up cancelled.out of the competition. by the comitee. which instead put a bunch of ubisoft titles on the panel...
funny that an ubi soft game even qualifies
quando sai o mod atualizado do enshrounded com a opçao sem requisitos e fabricação?
they have mentioned in the past that a free creative mode will be coming but no date has been announced.
If this one doesn't have Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for best soundtrack, I'm calling it super mega rigged. LOL I haven't played that game but can't stop listening to that soundtrack, like many people out there. 😹
English please for the discord. But to answer your question, the "mods" that exist currently aren't officially supported, so there's no timeline on when they'll be updated for each patch.
Was Death Stranding 2 even that good/popular?
no idea, not a fan of that game series. Am shocked Split Fiction didnt get nominated though.
Yeah, I don't think I heard anyone even talking about Death Stranding 2, there have been a TON of good games this year
i hate all those games
is this a list of games i dislike?
lol
jk, but none of them interest me or ever would
even if they were free
do they not nominate in categories?
they just nominate 6 random games, some in same category?
wtf did hades 2 do with their store page it has a animated video
can i see gameplay footage, i should just boycott companies who showcase their game with made up movies/cutscenes
You mean like... the second video that has gameplay footage?
only 1
they have like 5 videos of animated story
the impression i get from all these games is mainstream somehow, like sensationalized to capitalize on certain things.
The first hades game is a top tier roguelike
I haven't played 2 yet, but it looks like more of the same with new updates and stuff
it's very rare i like a rogue like
if i want to suffer and not have progress i can just live my life
why do that in a game?
Because regular restarting gives you the opportunity to experience randomness and create new builds and things. Roguelikes reward game knowledge and skilled play in a way that games that give you long term progression don't.
it took me like 5 years to play ring of pain and enjoy it
It's like experiencing an entire progression curve for a much longer game, but quickly
i didnt touch the game for 5 years
not sure why i bought it
dungeons of dredmore is the only rogue lite i liked a lot
you can get all the rogue litness of hades 2
Long ago, the Dark Lord Dredmor was bound in the darkest dungeons beneath the earth by great and mighty heroes. Centuries later, the magical bonds that hold him in place are loosening and his power grows ever stronger. The land cries out for a new hero, a powerful warrior or a mystic wizard like those spoken of in the prophecies of yore.
What th…
$7.99
3635
79
for 1/4 the price
yeah but for some reason thats not enjoyable
i've mostly been a 1 and done player
i expect to play a game 1 time and never have to touch it again
i dislike multiple path games for example
mostly because i dont believe replayability exists, after beating a game 1 time, even if there are other paths, the game is already boring.
what you said is how a rogue lite is supposed to work, but most dont execute it in a way where the game is still as fun as the first time playing.
Well, not everyone likes everything, you don't have to like the genre for it to be a GOTY candidate.
and it becomes more of a grind session
but they dont even nominate within genres
so their nominations are all trash to me
They do, that's the list for "overall game of the year"
they might be good games, but they nominated games i would never play
There's also "multiplayer game of the year" and other subcategories
they should nominate game of the year, in 10 categories
its possible to have a building game of the year, and an FPS game of the year?
They DO. But they also do an overall game of the year, which is what that list is.
The only reason I don't think Death Stranding should be on that list is even the people I know who loved the first one barely even registered the second one coming out.
i was looking at oscar lists of movies from 2006 to 2025 right?
every year it has movies i would never see, or think are that good
its wild, yet its the "best movies" for those years
yet i can think of better 10/10 movies, whereas if i tried to slog through those oscar lists, i bet i would actually rate some of them 6/10
probably because the oscars might prioritize artistry or something or popular opinion
maybe a movie is 10/10 artistic but actually 7/10 as something i wouldn't really want to watch again.
Yeah, I mean there are movies that I've seen that are great that I'd never really want to watch again.
like this is a 2005 oscar movie
and for 2005 i have only 2/7 rated
2025 i've watched 0/11 oscar movies lol
actually probably true, i stopped really liking movies after 2010 probably
basically i dont think most people would list these things as their top game or movie if they had to give a list
Actually, I'm pretty sure everything on the list EXCEPT Death Stranding 100% deserves to be there.
This has been a year if really stellar releases and all of those games were either highly anticipated (and very good) or surprise drops (and very good)
well for 2024 movies, i saw oppenheimer, barbie, godzilla minus one, and i know what poor things was - didn't see it though, but thats only 4 out of 10 movies, the rest i never even heard of, and of the 4 movies i saw, they are mid... they aren't special amazing movies... they are one and dones. the only one that is arguable is godzilla minus one.
i think the same trend follows with the game of year of games
do they have older game of the year lists?
I assume they do somewhere
the problem is probably partly one of accessibility
i cant buy every game on the market every year
so 80%-90% of the games on these lists i will not have played
i dont know what any of these are
wukong meh
elden ring meh
final fantasy i heard of, but know least about
the rest i never heard of
That sounds like a you problem. All of the games on that list were crazy popular.
popular doesnt make it good
It's what makes it game of the year, it's literally a popularity contest
apparently not that popular since the one that won i never heard of
Are you guys talking about the steam awards? Cause yeah those are literally a popularity contest haha, the games that get the most votes and the games that are most played are pretty much the same list
🤷♀️ Again, you don't have to pay attention to all aspects of the game industry. There will always be parts of it that you haven't heard of because it's not your job to engage with it.
But that doesn't mean there aren't huge swaths of people voting for games that aren't on your radar
yeah so the good games are voted by a class of people who can afford them, so it's already class divided
and also its divided by the fact that since i cant access every game every year, my tastes will have developed differently, based on older titles
but the movie problem is interesting
because i can access every movie, but i guess there is so much volume of movies, you cant watch them all
in every oscar list i only watched like 20% of the movies that won
and never heard of at least half of them
i just find it weird in all these lists
they are games i will never play
2023 list
Perhaps you just have very particular tastes that don't align with mainstream gaming. There's nothing wrong with that.
games i never heard of, and would never play even if free, are winning
i do own and did play BG3, but thats it
and i dont think it was game of the year 😆
i mean i guess it was
but only because the bar was low i guess
2022
stray was probably good, but i never bought it 😄 wanted to try it though
im waiting to hit a year, where i'm like, i recognize every game, and every game is good.
it might be in 90s 🤣
Out of all of the GOTY lists you posted, the only one I don't know off the top of my head is Celeste
i know celeste, i bought it, but its a platformer and i dont enjoy those
as a paltformer its designed very well
ew dragon age, and dark souls 2
what crappy games imo
2014 was a bad year, eh
thats it, 2014 is the last year?
I feel like gaming didn't start to become more mainstream until like 2008-10 or so, so it makes sense that there weren't game awards that far back.
oh man if i highlight in these lists
2015, witcher 3, okay probably okay game, fallout 4, okay,
bloodborne? the hell is this?
metal gear heard of the franchise and played 1, and 2 i think? but no idea if 5 is good, chances are it's bat sh... crazy because thats how metal gear is in general lol
none of the supermario stuff i ever played, potentially good, just no idea about it.
dragon age - i know of the original one, i wouldnt personally vote this game of the year, given all the better rpgs i can list. (though from different years).
batyonetta never heard,
dark souls 2, yuck
hearthstone (vaguely familiar, cant attach a gameplay to it)
middle earth (i just know what lotr is).
Shadow of Mordor had a revolutionary system that got patented and no one has been able to use it because of that.
zelda winning in 2017 probably good, i just played like 2 zeldas in my life though, the snes version, and a gamecube version i think? 🤣 and then pubg i heard of, the rest no idea.
Yeah, IDK what to tell you. You just might not like modern gaming.
i dont buy triple A games i guess
that or i need 700 games like my friend
to keep up
i have 331 more than enough
tbh the game awards are not worth caring about
I'm probably just more in tune with the industry because I work in it though
like what's in it for us gamers? nothing.
i played the outerworlds
its not that good?
mass effect 2 was better
yet its nominated for game of the year, game of the year is just the best that year, doesn't mean good game overall
pretty sure i got outerworlds free on epic played it for 2 hours and never touched it again
im not saying it's bad, it was fine
borderlands 3 was more interesting and 2 was more interesting than 3
and fallout new vegas more interesting than fallout 4 lol
id rather play new vegas a third time, than outerlands once
i dunno man
new games don't have it for me
That's awesome, I remember the dude saying "Just sell it back to me, I'll pay for it"
why would they sell it?
could they not develop a game with it?
thats easy millions of dollars in the bag for whoever completes, hell i would have bought it, and went into debt to hire a dev team, because i'd come out a few million richer by the end.
Riot cancelled it, because of big publisher BS, basically. And the original team lead wanted to keep making it.
I think the early release of Ashes of Creation on Steam is going to end up being a disaster that could destroy its long-term potential.
thats easily going to make whoever finishes it millions
Riot is extremely picky about the quality of the games they release, my hunch is that Hytale was not up to "the riot standard"
as long as they do a good job
so cant they delay release until the standards are better?
or engine limitations
if they have a poor engine, the game is dead without a port to better engine
its decent enough fun but at its core its just watered down new vegas and feels like like a rejected fallout game that was reworked into a original game from the design of the robots to the weapons to the terminals to its mediocre version of vats to the slowmo kills
They could, but if the project wasn't on a good trajectory it might be more economically viable to just cut their losses (which is what they did). It's actually very common in the games industry. My last studio had a project that got cut that players never even saw or heard about, but years of development were spent on it.
development is really expensive, and if it doesn't go according to plan it can often be better to just cut your losses and move onto something better.
imagine if the guys making terreria said that
or minecraft
some games can have potential to win back all your losses, i think hytale has that
both of those games were extremely successful very early on in development, with incredibly small teams, so yeah it would have been weird if they did that lol
hytale was in development hell for close to a decade on a massive budget, huge losses
that sounds like mismanagement though
yeah it totally was
unless, its a bad custom made engine or something
the engine did seem to have a lot of fundamental flaws, I was reading through their dev blogs and it was really behind the times with a lot of advancements that have been made in the industry. My suspicion is that might been part of why Riot cut ties with the project.
as soon as hytale releases they get sued by microsoft
is the ending of this story
Reuploaded as the original has been set to private.
#SaveHytale
i mean if they released what they had in that video i would buy it for $30 even if broken and buggy
it has potential
if it's released on good engine, no bugs, and runs well, which i guess is the point of game development in the first place lol. then it will be a good success.
also as much as the characters grew on me their not as good or memorable as the characters of new vegas its been a while since i last played but i still rember raul and prim slim
this was the buggiest game i ever bought and played
i dont regret it

ok i unironically dig this
love me some madmax post apocalyptic car games
and setting as a whole
Yeah, they did some cool stuff:
-Vehicles had front weapons (Flamethrowers, chainsaws, etc), turret weapons and rear weapons (mines, etc)
-Different vehicles had different bonuses (tanks, motorcycles, etc)
-Different classes got different available chassis and attachments (the "healer" could get a healing mine that they placed for other players to run over)
-There were 3 factions with distinctly different styles (humans had low health, but their cars had shields. Biomeks had INSANE armor, but it didn't regenerate, and mutants had no shields and moderate health but their cars regenerated)
-Almost every structure in the game was destructible, so while you were smashing around blowing up enemies, you'd also be blowing up terrain/buildings and stuff. I still remember that the ONE thing that wasn't destructible for some reason were power lines, they'd just stop you in your tracks.
It was unironically really fun, it was super chaotic to play but you were cruising around doing quests, killing AI enemies and stuff. But like... nobody bought it.
someone try this concept out again i feel like more people would like it now then back then
I want to make it, but in the style of Risk of Rain / Megabonk, where it's procgen levels and stuff, but just a single player or co-op adventure mode instead of a MMO
Capturing the "chaos" of the game is something no one has really done, I don't think
👀
i mean i played a fun demo called fumes https://store.steampowered.com/app/2255190/FUMES_Demo/
FUMES is a single-player game inspired by the golden era of vehicular combat genre. Straight-forward, fast paced, intense gameplay. Get into the car, slap some weapons on and cruise twisted wastes.
No bullscrap. Just you, your car and pure fun. Like in the old days!…
Looks like it came out and has overwhelmingly positive reviews, lo
single player.
Yeah
One thing I feel like is missing from "horde survival" type games is multiplayer
That sort of game would be so much more fun smashing around with your buddies
vehicles having front and back weapons is something i played on 2D games in the 90s
also mario kart?
not a new idea
Nope, not a new idea at all
no one said it was lol
BUT interesting things can be done with it that haven't been done
i played castol racing which had rockets, nuke, mines, oil spill, etc.
nuke wasnt a front weapon
it was a place anywhere on map weapon
also every structure being destroyable is something every game thought up from the beginning of time
and game devs still can't do it
we're not really there yet with technology
That's not true at all
Red Faction 1 and guerilla
Fortnite does it, Auto Assault did it, Red Faction did it
enshrouded
not for 3d games
Those are all 3D games
red faction
Red Faction Guerilla was awesome
red faction did it.
fornite doesn't qualify for me
i coukd never get into guerilla i dont know why
every structure is not destroyable, only player built ones
tried a few times
That's not true
Structures on the map are destroyable
The terrain isn't, but structures are
yeah terrain too
not just the 2% of building they put on a map
there is nothing here to do destroy
it's empty
Have you actually played it?
i can make an empty map, with 1 destroyable building and say i did it
There was a skyscraper area where you could take out the bottom floor of the skyscrapers and they'd completely collapse
except thats not what i mean
have i mentioned red faction?
im talking about a fully 3d game where everything you can see can be destroyed
