Like, back when I was playing our main ship was the Pyramideon because the pilot liked to play aggressively and ram other ships and the pyra was great for that, and it was a really common and popular strategy. So after a couple tournaments when they saw pyra ramming was a popular tactic, they nerfed it to the point it felt like you were driving a tissue box around
Same with gattling greased rounds, they wanted long range play but they nerfed the greased rounds to half distance because people "weren't using other ammo types enough", things like that
i forget did the game have rockets?
They wanted to eliminate metas but instead of making other things competitive they just made good things suck
they should have added rockets
Yeah, they had 2 types of rockets
i think you dont nerf the gatling, i think instead you introduce a new long range defense mechanic
that is skill based
but yeah i see your point
That's the frustrating thing though. They still wanted long range bombardment play, they just wanted people to use other ammo types but did it by making the long range option useless
i still think most people quit the game for 1 reason
the reason being it wasnt 4k population, it was 400-800
thats why i quit, couldnt find games, that and the gameplay got old
they needed updates
I mean that's part of it. Our crew of 16 people total quit because they were patching out everything we liked to do, and we tried to adapt but the other options just weren't fun or good comparatively
And I mean, we had like 8 different main ship/weapon load out combos we liked, and they systematically made every single one suck
Sounds like very inexperienced devs on the balancing front
Which is never good for pvp
There was an overwhelming feeling that outside of certain "liked" groups, they ignored the broader community and only made changes those people were asking for, along with what they felt the game should be
Which doesn't work in a primarily multiplayer competitive game like that because if the broader player base feels punished for having fun, they leave
so i either quit before they did all of this, which means the game was 400 pop already
or i didn't care
which means you guys taking it too seriously.
Case in point, if what our crew did was so OP, why did we only ever come in second and lose to a crew playing more the way the "devs envisioned", prior to the balancing
it was still fun when i quit basically, if you found a change so bad you quit, it means you didn't find it fun like i did, and therefore taking it too seriously.
We were specificlly a competition crew playing in official tournaments, of course we were taking it seriously to a degree xD
I mean, I had fun jumping on pubs and screwing around but we were trying to win tournaments xD
metas shouldnt exist in games anyway
from another players perspective they are probably glad things were nerfed.
your perspective only highlights you like easy ways to win
You're ignoring the fact that I said we had 8 different ship/load out combinations. What we had fun with was also one of the most effective
now im not saying reducing gatling range isn't the lazy solution, but probably the longer term solution would require 6 months of working it out and dev work to make a new defense mechanic.
I mean for random pubs we would use weird and silly setups but if we're playing in a tournament of course we're using whats good, effective, and fun for us. WDYM? xD
yeah and if everyone else used what you did
who won?
usually the ship who got into position first
Plenty did. We won a lot because we were good at it xD
But we also lost to teams playing "non-meta"
the game needed more environment damage
It has a lot more to do with the skill and communication of the crew
environment damage whould have ensured people still play today with 4k servers
because what was lacking wasnt guns and nerfs dont really matter
what was lacking was movement freedom
you could do a lot to get away from an attacker, but if they were good, they would always be on your tail shooting you unless a third ship intervened.
with environment damage, you could fly under a ridge, shoot the ridge out, and have it collapse on them.
or fly near other hostile environment things
to lose your stalker
they could have added fire geysers
that have random timing
or storms, i think they had a sand storm? i cant remember
they could have designed air balloons of different sizes
and then add nooks and crany canyons, that only small air ships can fit through.
Yeah the dune map had storms that would sometimes reduce visibility
Or there were clouds you could hide in if you weren't targeted
yeah they needed to do more environment stuff like i said, but probably their engine limited them anyway, so the game was doomed to never really hit that mark that sustained population, unless they made guns of icarus 2 with this in mind from the start
evasion/dodging/hiding from the enemy had to be expanded
thats how you improve skill ceiling
in all games skill starts from movement, not aim
I mean dropping a bunch of heavy handed nerfs then dropping balancing to add a pve mode only a handful of players wanted was a big part of it. Also adding 2 ships that weren't that great and never revisiting them, not working on new maps, list goes on
I mean between moonshine/drop chutes etc movement wasn't a huge issue, it was all in how the pilot and engineers handled using them/the damage they caused
Like burning moonshine would make your ship faster horizontally but also damage your engines, so there was strategy in using it and making sure the engies could keep up with it
yeah i remember
Same with helium/drop chutes for vertical/balloon
but still, there were pilots and techniques for staying on someones ass
having more map elements to run/hide would have been good, especially when out numbered.
especially if the map elements were interactable with
i played in every role, captain, guns, engineer
but i loved flying, evading etc. i was good at it
i was pretty much equally good at everything, aiming as well
Imagine entering tourneys not trying to be serious about winning XD
I hope Wildgate devs are able to pull that game off but just between balance changes between the first test and second... its not looking good
The first test was super entertaining
I definitely enjoyed it, though there are some balance things that feel pretty off. The character that can melee your ship and break windows and modules and stuff feels pretty busted.
you can be serious about winning, but still not rage quit a game because something was nerfed.
when you're good you win regardless
you find another way to win, you enjoy the game regardless of balance of changes. unless the game became unplayable due to changes.
reducing gatling range doesn't sound like an unplayable change to me.
i just find it funny and disingenuous when people quit a game over balance changes. they aren't really fans of the game, it sounds like they are fans of winning the only way they knew how.
and in most cases balance changes are a process that happens over months, it's not going to be the final form.
people did the same crap with hell divers
none of the nerfs in hell divers bothered me in the slightest, when they undid the nerfs, i didn't care either.
and my gameplay was unaffected, the game was easy either way
the magnitudes of fun didn't decrease or increase based on the nerf, because 100% of my fun doesn't come from how much damage a rocket does
if it did that would make me borderline demented.
they nerfed things in enshrouded too, i still prefer the previous damage of acid and the fact that you used to have faster mana regen, but i didn't rage quit the game, post a negative review, or whatever. it just takes a little bit of extra work to kill things now. and again 100% of my fun didn't come from mage acid or mana regen.
if icarus was doing these nerfs, but also pushing out content, in my view nobody should have quit even if the nerfs were not preferenced. but i think because icarus was also failing to push content, it was a double whammy.
plus if you quit the game the nerfs stay in forever, if you stay and advocate for change you might get a rebalance that favors the gameplay you want. "from nothing comes nothing" - Parmenides. quitting and disappearing, earns you nothing except no game at all.
This is a lot of words that has nothing to do with what I was commenting on... but yeah. You can totally stop supporting a game when devs clearly show their inability time and time again to nerf things properly and it isn't rage quitting. In competitive gaming, its important to not heavy hand nerf things
I didn't play Guns of Icarus so I can't comment on whether or not the devs intentions was to make the game for sports
So if it was all supposed to be casual fun then its whatever
the dev doesn't always have to cater to the playerbase, since the playerbase is selfish or narrow sighted and might not always understand the game vision or see the whole picture.
personally, i wouldnt care about losing some stubborn players stuck on one system, if i was bringing players in with content to offset their loss. as long as you push good content, explain your changes and how these changes align with a long term vision - ie a future set of updates then i think the game dev deserves some freedom to implement the changes they want.
but you can't go to the extreme with that either
From what was posted.. it clearly seems the game failed to bring people in with changes
it was casual play, blended with serious people who i'm assuming joined some ladder or league? but most people played casual. and you could make guilds.
Youre right, the devs don't have to cater to the player base. The player base also doesn't have to play xD
There's a middle ground they never reached
didn't new world have server issues that impacted their numbers? or you think that doesnt matter? and hell divers for that matter.
tech issues, server capacity issues, and ddos
New world was too much of a circus to say it was server issues xD
they all roll into the same basket
i dont think it affected the numbers of hell divers i guess
since hell divers is doing well today
People complained about HD2 server issues killing the game and it was literally just complainers bc after it was all and done the numbers still skyrocketed
but hell divers was insanely more popular than icarus
It was literally just doomposting bc "i can't play right now"
There was that one troll in here that did it daily and said they refunded multiple times
They really wanted HD2 to fail for some reason or another lmao
Some people just want to watch a train wreck happen
would prefer if i could change colours, and even add the attributes i want to armor
they could design a beautiful system that was balanced to this effect
no idea why they don't. i dont get why game companies dont do no brainer ideas.
they afraid its too big of a change nobody would like i guess
My guess is they dont because they want people to do their battle passes to get armor with those stats
they could have made it so you unlock dyes/colours, textures, for your armor, and made it so certain armor attributes dont combine, so nothing is overpowered etc. it's not that complex for them to do. they could even keep everything else the same, so you still get sets, that start with certain colors, and 1 attribute like - throw 2 extra grenades, but then you can change the colours and add 1 more attribute.
they are doing textures for the mechs
but yeah i dunno, needs more freedom/customization on the armor side

Chrono Odyssey is probably the best looking MMO coming this year, surprisingly. We recently got a bunch of gameplay and information about the game, lets take a look.
Thanks to Game of Thrones: Kingsroad for sponsoring today's video. The game has officially launched! Download now and begin your story: https://ntiny.link/GOTK_ForceGaming_Launch St...
Chrono Odyssey
Same, this one looks pretty good
My only big concern is with Kakao and how they monetize
I guess they're doing a closed beta in June so we aren't too far from finding out
Though I'm happy to hear the game's main focus will supposedly be exploration, the leveling experience, and coop
im still waiting for an MMO to give me what I want, but I dont think that can exist to be fair.
The only MMO I actually invested time and money into was Trove but I lost interest when they were bought by that one MMO-killing company that put profit before players and made it so the only way to do anything without paying for it is to grind for ungodly amounts of time just to get anything done
for a very long time it was GUILD WARS (1 & 2) for me. even met people irl, still friends to this day
nice
never got to plays those.
i played runescape back in the early 2000s. was one of the best games I had to play at the time.
Yes. Take away the MM from MMO

dev interview for anyone who is interested
I've hit a strange milestone in my agedness where few games hold my attention. I'm having to rediscover what my tastes are
I almost went back to Skyrim again but Enshrouded has delayed the inevitable quite effectively
I have hit this milestone many times XD
welcome to the club \o/
Im really enjoying this comfy animal crossing zelda game
ya, old final fantasy games just wont hold my attention anymore.
i really should just look up some story focused playthroughs and call it a day for a lot of them.
Yeah, Gamigo is notorious for over monetizing and then killing MMOs
so is most ANY game from EA
April Fools!
Welcome to the post-apocalyptic nightmare feature that is Fallout 4, a game committed by the game studio called Bethesda. I am not sorry.

Hour long video, but it's a pretty hilarious breakdown of how Bethesda sucks at storywriting xD
Good Sunday afternoon watch
story is as, UI and gameplay are decent.
it's fine if you just like to loot and shoot.
also i love having all sorts of settlements to build up. although some are way too small.
good game, awful story.
That's a lot of what he dives into, and why Fallout 3, 4, and 76 suck
At least from a story perspective
Basically at the end he concludes that the 'real' Fallout games are 1, 2, and NV
But also he talks about how some elements of the game and story seem like they were actually tacked on and changed haphazardly and there's the core of an actual compelling story in there
there's one perfect example of the issue with fallout 4 I think, and it's the robot derby.
you come across it, hear the announcer, and from a distance it sounds like a cool place with interesting NPCs, maybe you can even bet on the robots!
nope, just more enemies to kill!
there was a moment in that new wolfenstien when you're sneaking around and you hear an officer on the phone, terrified of his superior, worried about his family, a human moment from someone from an evil evil army, a reminder of the gray areas, but the momeny he spots you theres no hesitation, there's no interaction, just instant "raarg die player character!" same for the check in guy for the moon base.
just a blip and it's back to shoot everything that movies.
Yeah that's a lot of what he calls out with Fallout 4. Everything is basically just a reskin of a raider
And no depth or interesting player choices or dilemmas, just a big sandbox to shoot your way through
oh man, dont get me started on the gunners
should have been a neutral party but nope, just better armed raiders
AND THE NPCS WILL NEVER SHUT UP ABOUT THEM
ya, the only good parts of fallout 4 is the quality of life upgrades over new vegas (went back to new vegas and man inventory management is AWFUL)
and the weapon customization and base building.
also the pipe weapons are utterly pointless, before i even leave the vault I already have better weapons.
You should check out that video when you have time, sounds like you're going to agree with a lot of it
lol probably.
I'll throw it in a background tab.
right now i got a chateau rebuild going on my second monitor next to discord
It's been a while since I last played NMS
same. i keep saying ill go back one day, but flight controls are hard to relearn.
I love the concept of NMS, but even with all the added content, I find that I "see the seams" in the procedural generation after a while and it gets boring. That said, I'm super stoked for Light No Fire
Every update they do to NMS, you can tell they're making big engine upgrades for LNF and it makes me more hyped.
Same, given history I'm taking a wait and see approach to LNF but they've definitely got a strong foundation to work from. I feel like the proc gen will be less intrusive on a single world vs generating infinite ones
Because yeah, by the time you've hit your 5th or 6th solar system you start really seeing the patterns
Yeah, my friends and I have often talked about the concept of taking the power of the universe generation from NMS and using it to generate a single interesting planet.
I'm so glad they're doing it
is LNF like, a medieval game or something?
but ya, planets got dull fast and I played a good chunk of the game before most of the new content came out and now i have enshrouded soooo
Kind of. Think NMS, but in a fantasy instead of sci fi setting and on one massive planet and online instead of instanced
Like, scale wise I think they want the size of the planet to literally be Earth sized
i want to try NMS in vr
I've heard NMS in VR is one of the better VR experiences
nms is a good game
if you last it played it over 2 years ago or more? then you might be surprised if you play it now.
they added massive content and improvements, and even recently improved planets
the only thing still kind of lackluster is the base building system
you can probably still recognize the patterns in the generation, but it's still so much better, i would argue it was wierder to some extent in the early days but also more barren sometimes.
early days being 2015 or whatever
finding earth like planets is probably one of the best things too
though its difficult, i've done like 200 jumps and only found like 10, and only 1 of those was truly earth like
and only 1 had water
imo i like the base building. unlike games like enshrouded or ark the building system isn't obtuse and a relatively basic base actually looks good instead of being a ugly crap shack
its dated needs a lot of work, and hard to get something looking good
its basically fallout 4 level building
wire system, power system, dated
snap issues, texture issues, lighting issues
storage issues too
i'm not saying its terrible, just that they updated literally everything else in NMS, they could revisit building and improve a lot.
like not opinion based, i could show you screenshots of all of this
well documented
ive also made pretty bases, but it's also taken me like 10 extra hours of learning how to do it than it would have in a more qol building system
especially because i'm picky
so ill struggle with any little tiny thing that i dont like how it looks for like 1 hour
plus ive never really been a fan of free placement games
having to free placement lighting, on ceiling or walls? and no snap feature for furniture or other things.. the tedium...
the built in lighting in walls having zero effect on lighting your base
in the prefabs its good, but the wood walls come with some built in lighting too that doesn't seem to work
snapping stairs being a disaster sometimes too
cargo containers free placement, no snap
they actually snap incorrectly.
like someone in the dev department? coding? has to go into the game and fix it, they dont align properly
i have screenshots of their snap being broken
its just a long long long list of troubles in the building system
one of the things i hate the most about NMS is the ladders.
Anyone playing Tainted Grail and have issues with it? My game worked fine until today; started crashing whenever going to the Keep.
I played a hour last night with no issues @torpid briar
That's good. I have 11 hours and today it started crashing when trying to go into the keep. Going anywhere else seems ok. I'm still at Act 1 though.
That sucks. I didn't really like the game so Uninstalled and gonna get a refund
That's fair.
I've heard it didn't quite live up to expectations
Well, I didn't have much expectations, but it needs fixes badly.
nothing can compare to elder scrolls!
so I've been thinking have graphics actually gotten better over the past ten years?
I've heard pretty good things about tainted grail, actually. I haven't fired it up, but I own it because I bought the roguelike they made forever ago
seems popular. ill pass on it.
I think so. Games like Alan Wake 2, Space Marine 2, FF7 Rebirth all look better than prior games in the series
It's like... Elder Scrolls but Arthurian lore. Probably doesn't meet the same bar as ES games, but since ES6 is slated to come out in 2143, it's probably a good time.
its not arthurian lore.
its grimdark what if a bunch of awful stuff happened in arthurian lore.
Same difference to me, I guess. Grimdark <lore> is still <lore>
That's why they keep re-releasing the same ones
I'm going to pass on tainted grail because tbh i hate the idea of evil King Arthur its the same reason i was turned off by sworn
My understanding is that king arthur is still a good guy, but things have gone to shit because he died a long time ago, and you're a vessel for his spirit trying to fix things.
Its not a bad game but for me it was just kinda boring and the combat didn't do anything for me. You have an active dodge and I could just walk forward charge attack, dodge backwards and repeat .. on ever single mob I fought in that hour I played.
Yeah that's fair
I'm playing Tinkerlands with a friend and that is much more enjoyable
It feels like a cross of core keeper + terraria but with mapping
I've been playing a lot of deadlock while I wait for Dune to come out. Been feeling dry on survival games lately, and haven't been quite ready for another Enshrouded playthrough yet.
There was update for Tainted Grail and I can walk into the Keep again without crashing!
speaking of dune
poly bridge so annoying
i always hit the next button by accident
instead of replay
and it doesnt save what you did
so you need to build the crap all over again
they needed better ui
good lord the roamer is a tank

I think I botched my opportunity at obtaining a freighter in no man’s sky
wdym?
can always get another
Well after I took care of the pirates the captain gave me the planet in distress mission and I existed out of my game shortly after while it’s true their will be other opportunities it’s still frustrating
eh, at the end you be huntin for S rank Freighter anyway^^

Who else is excited for Nightreign
Free to claim till June 5th
Might actually try it now
its okay.
I've heard it's good but IDK how much I trust Gearbox after their latest TOS
ya its alright. one of the 3 good BL games.
although its a reminder that tina is only entertaining in small doses.
Tina wasn't the worst character in the game tbh
no. i liked her.
im just saying that listening to her for an entire game is a bit much.
id rate her mid tier. she was fine. not a favorite or hated.
Out of the 3 main character she probably was the best
Torque I liked. Torque was always funny.
Tina was a main character?
oh you mean in the tina game.
i mean compared to those other two, ya.
I mean it isn't hard to be better then those two
The game obviously isn't even close to bl2
Yeah, for me Tina is one of those characters that's great in limited doses. I could see it being a little much for an entire game's runtime
Like in BL2 she was great when she was being hyperactive and irreverant around a bunch of more "serious" characters
Her dlc was my fav but I also feel like she is only good in small doses... which is why I never played this game
Also bc 3 was absolutely awful so I stopped caring about their games
Will probably try BL4 once it's free
Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen kind of has my interest, but recent reviews are mixed and I'm skeptical about an in-development MMORPG that's looking backward instead of forward
Like, maybe if they smooth the experience and iterate on it but as is it just seems like a prettier, less complete version of EQ
Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S) is a classic first person RPG with a bleak gothic spin. How is it? Let's talk.

Every single upcoming MMO I could find that is releasing in 2025 and beyond. Whether it's just a tweet from a developer who might be working on a game that might be released in potentially 5 or more years, I've documented every release we know about here.

The most shocking thing from that video is that apparently Camelot Unchained is still being worked on somehow xD
Got one
Nice!
@limber barn Had a quick question about fountain of youth. At what point in the game did you decide to actually build a base thats more than a simple shelter?
Fairly early on, when I reached the small harbor on the Island of Hope if I recall I was looking for the spyglass the captain left behind per the quest.
ok was just curious got back into it and just got to the second set of islands. wasnt sure If I should settle down at this point and start building my equiptment and armor up
Honestly the only two islands I found any good for a base are Hope and Copper. The other islands are just too stormy and or dark all the time and some of them like crocodile and sulfur island the environment just sucks. My first largest and main base is on Hope, all around it's the best place to build and probably the most prime spot is the southern corner of the inlet to the harbor a lot of open and pretty level ground, room to expand and plenty of shoreline to add docks and there's a fishing spot right there. When you can survive the heat Copper is a really good spot the best place I've found there is on the southern shore there are several palm trees and very level ground to build on
Awesome thanks! I think I will head back to hope and build there. Apparently I missed alot of stuff there since I left there before EA was done
are you trying to get zerax obsessed and unable to stop typing about this for 1 week
congrats on helper, what would you say you help with? is it channel specific?
xD I've personally been an MMO gamer since 97/98, I respect Zerax's opinions on the genre xD
Nothing particular, it's just Keen saying I've been around for a while and might know a thing or two about Enshrouded xD
nice
how many hours do you have in the game now?
400-ish
Which isn;t a lot in terms of hours, but I've been playing since literal launch day and been on the discord since before that xD
ive been waiting for full release to get back into it
imo its good enough for helper
400 is more than one would think, i mean provided you didnt afk whole time
Nah. I'll admit some of it was afk waiting for crop plants to finish but the vast majority was playing hours
in 160 hours i have 3 chars maxed out, and basically 2 playthroughs, though some of these playthroughs without the latest game updates
Mine were one character
yeah my group hasnt started again, so if they never start, ill have to find a new group or just play solo once the game is in 1.0
I can't speak much to magic or pure melee, but I have thoughts on bow/daggers xD
Daggers are my favorite. They're so fun and so much more dynamic than any other melee style currently available xD
Great at parry, great for making use of merciless/stun, and they have a varied move set
I just like a big friggin hammer to smash things
No style, no finesse no dancing around, just smash and laugh
I like the finesse and dancing around. It makes me feel like a classy gentlemen xD
As I stab them in the face xD
And is this not the look of a classy gentlemen xD
I have approximate knowledge of many things
That's an opinion I can respect because it's one that I share xD
i wish timesplitters and resistance were on PC.... stupid sony.
Not stupid because srsly, why aren't they
Also Bloodbourne remake when
sony is stupid cause they wont let me. if they're the reason.
man i just want more old console FPSes on PC....
tbh fpses never belonged on consoles
????
i REALLY want to play resistance fall of man but i am NOT spending cash on a PS3
Halo to this day is still great on console
n64 controller sucks
sounds like user error
noooooooo XD
XD
worst controller ever
i love that controller
you're a masochist
its so nostalgically great
fps games were designed for mouse and keyboard
mouse aiming is vastly superior to joystick
okay?
like 100 - 1
oh okay
ya.
sick
but yeah, i prefer keeb and mouse as well

I'd totally watch a Netflix show with that premise xD
same people or same company?
why netflix? why not a company that wont cancel it after 1-2 seasons?
if only netflix had been smarter with their shows and released them one episode a week TO STIR UP CHATTER ABOUT THEIR SHOWS.
Yeah xD I was just using Netflix as a general easy example
but ya, it does look entertaining.

why does he look so scared? what does he see?
He saw that video where they talked about Camelot Unchained still being in development xD
you play a game where you pee in a toilet?
is that game voiced by george clooney
what the hell
reminds me of these games a little bit
i was close
it's Jeffrey Wright and Aaron Paul
Definitely. Duke Nukem 3D xD
sims also
Most recently.. Inzoi
I saw you got ur hands on ur first freighter - already on the hunt for a pirate one?^^
i did fight a pirate dreadnought although i failed at taking it out down regardless I'm going to be giving my ship more fire power so the next one isn't so lucky
you can find a system that always spawns them
yeh, good luck for that.
if you want a tip in the future how to disable these guys to take em over, lemme know^^
jeah... first one took me about the same time. on the second charakter it was actualy the third one xD
nice
i been grinding forever trying to find earth like worlds with water
very hard to find for me
can only find them without water
realy? mh. weird. i found it pretty easy tbh. although larger ocean earth likes are a bit more rare yeah
yeah i was even in the second system with more spawn
i've also found finding water covered worlds pretty easily too
thats what people tell me
Green system?
hm, guess you are just realy unlucky then^^
yeah
i found a lava planet with a ocean
im honestly more about the exotics (like that for example) because literaly everyone builds bases on earthlikes^^

i see ea is becoming the Netflix of videogames
If anything, Netflix is the EA of streaming services xD
EA has been a studio sausage grinder for years
Going all the way back to the mid 2000s when they bought and killed Westwood (RIP, that one still hurts
)
you'd think they would be like disney and try to utilize the acquired assets
Nah, their entire business model involves going through the industry like pac man and gobbling up smaller successful studios, taking their IP portfolio, then getting rid of said studio to "streamline assets" and "regain our core focus" (IE; show greater profits to the shareholders by closing studios)
HULK SMASH!
https://www.windowscentral.com/software-apps/windows-11/windows-11s-biggest-update-in-months-also-includes-a-major-fix-for-gaming -this might explain it. I've actually had a couple freezes that required a restart with Enshrouded when I've never had that before. I was worried something was up with my GPU
im still on w10. i want to go back to w7....
Aside from the security flaws I miss Win10. Especially the ability to move the task bar to the right side of the screen like a civilized human
You can unlock it and move it. The horizontal edges take up more real estate than the sides on modern monitors but for some reason in 11 you can only do top or bottom. Drives me crazy
So all I can do is have it auto hide
https://www.ign.com/articles/nacon-revolution-x-unlimited-review -just in case anyone was curious about what $200 worth of controller looks like
Got motivated to mess around with Cyberpunk modding again, and decided to try and create a dress inspired by this one by Cooltrede
It's still very much a WIP, but I'm having a lot of fun messing with blender again
I keep forgetting NMS added underwater stuff
a lot of water stuff

left side.. but yes... not a bottom commoner XD
The top and bottom are literally the worst spots on modern monitors >.<
And with modern programs at that, they're all designed for widescreen, meaning squishing them vertically by adding a taskbar to the top or bottom just makes them even smaller. I have allllll this horizontal space, let me align it on the side >.<
I'm just saying, Final Fantasy Tactics is one of the greatest games ever made

Please give us FF9 Remake and FFT Remake announcement this year
A true FFT remake would be amazing
Not a rehash/remaster, a real remake
To this day I think it's still one of if not the best game in that particular style
its my favorite FF 100%
as tactics games goes.. I think the Disgaea series has to be my favorite
After finishing Expedition 33.. i started a modded FF9 playthrough haha
unfortunately you will have to wait for a remake. Might I suggest a replacement instead.
https://youtu.be/HTbRSZmqFs0?si=S2DMiC_IF2tm7XR0
I know, tech Demo but my god Ciri.
Looks alright... not sure why there are so many few units in the gameplay vids though... the beauty of FFT and Disgaea is the amount of units you get to field.
And especially the number of ways you can evolve a base unit
i only ever played tactics advance, got far but never fimished it. had a character with the randomly generated name FUBAR. was quite funny.
Tactics advance is solid too, and honestly a better experience unless you're emulating the original. I'm still not sure how we survived tolerating some of those loading times xD
That's why it's crying out for a remake
i had thw final fantasy and chrono trigger remakes for ps1 and they were awful.
best CT version is the DS one.
i swear they ruined the steal skill in FF6 cause all i ever got were tonics. NEVER got my mithril claw! -.-
i also swear they removed a section of the train but i dunno. maybe im crazy.
i heard FFTA had a worse plot than the original but i never played the original. most tactic games dont interest me but i did love me some xcom.
It always has been. They are just finally starting to collapse under the weight of their own stupid.
Yeah but the mechanics were there and again, no loading. That does a lot more for the experience than plot IMO. Though FFT did have a good plot
https://www.polygon.com/news/603493/no-mans-sky-beacon-update-switch-2-compatibility -apparently they're adding town building and management now
The tl;dr:
Players can become town mayor and take ownership of multiple settlements. You can construct buildings and upgrade each one, with new building types like jukebox bars where you can choose the music, merchants where you can build custom starships or even ponds you can chill and fish at.
Each inhabitant can be conversed with, with their own abilities and attributes to manage. As town mayor you’ll be enlisted to welcome new settlers, resolve disputes, and make choices to create prosperity.
A well managed settlement can make their owners rich in resources, but they need to be protected. Travellers can hire a squadron of wingmen, who will now defend towns when they come under attack from roving pirates.
This.... Wasn't this already in the game with Settlements...?
No idea, it's been ages since I last really dug into NMS
I know I have a settlement that I can expand with new buildings now and then, and govern and get materials from. Perhaps they're just expanding that...
Making it more actively engaging.
Probably, I found settlements to be pretty boring, personally
Good to see them expanding on the foundation of it
👀 👀 👀 👀
WITCHER 4???? YES!!!!!
this is everything NEW with the update
Damn, seems like a big one. But also my brain goes "Advaned settlement tech? Sounds like something prepping for Light No Fire!"
Maybe using NMS as a test kitchen?
Or taking things they've already done in LNF and bringing them over 🤔
yes to both. You can tell things coming to No Mans Sky are tech being tested for Light No Fire. The Water Planet update was a huge one to show what they are testing.
i currently own a settlement pre this update it will be interesting to see what changes
Both, would be my guess. A lot of the updates in the last year look like they'll be good for both games
@peak marsh
Wait, Ivalice Chronicles? Does that mean a mash up of FFT and FFTA?
Nah its the OG 1997 and War of the Lions
So you get both versions
Bah, Playstation exclusive
Fully voiced dialog too. Be nice if there's a PC version down the road
i should look up the plot of FFTA maybe
I have been debating back and forth for years on a big question.
Should I play and finish Golden Sun Lost Age?
or just try and find a youtube video covering the plot and save myself time?
honestly I feel the second option is what I should do for like 90% of the JRPGs I missed out on.
i recently watched a retrospective on dark cloud 1 and 2 and SHEEESH I dont have time for that!
Dark Cloud was a great game though
it was alright.
Especially now that you can emulate it with upscaling xD
I have mass nostalgia for DC2
DC2, ToSymphonia, Rogue Galaxy, these games are like, peak art style for me.
I love the art style for the 3 torchlights, each of them, and the First and only the first fable.
TSFP is decent too.
also cell shaded games. 🙂
I have a soft spot for cel shading. The first time I really remember it was Jet Set Radio on Dreamcast and I've liked it since
Which reminds me that I still need to get Bomb Rush Cyberfunk (kind of a spirtual successor to JSR)
Team Reptile brings you Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, a future world from the mind of Dion Koster where self-styled graffiti crews equipped with personal boostpacks are battling each other for control of the streets. Start your own cypher and dance, paint graffiti, collect beats, combo your tricks and face off with the cops to stake your claim to the spra…

there's a few minor things that left me disapointed in that game, and one big thing. but ya it's cool.
Looking forward to new Sega JSR
Shinobi looks really good so im sure they will do JSR justice
I'd LOVE to have a completed save file of JSR for PC so I can just freeroam and vibes. but man im getting salty over the controls from the last time I played. also why no JSF on steam?!
it's a shame the dreamcast failed, definitely one of the greatest consoles of all time.
and I say that unironically.
Here's hoping
oh ya, wasnt there a leak for a future game at some pont?!
im seeing red thinkingf about the time I tried to jump off some rails. that game had bad controls at times.
For sure. The controller wasn't well thought out (or the anti-piracy
) but as a console it was great. If not for the combination of Sega's screwups with 32x and Saturn plus the rampant piracy, it would have been top of it's generation
Which comes out this summer
I had the PS2 shinobi in 2009. It was okay.
Also crazy taxi
the VMU is awesome.
2 things I miss.
- GC's menu, the floating cube, the ambient sound, so cozy.
- PS2's save file icons and all their animation.
that was peak gaming era.
The VMU is awesome, but the design was outdated considering PS2 was already a thing, the wire stuck out in the wrong direction, and the analog stick was just bad
the DC controller wasnt perfected until the xbox one.
Yeah, me and my friends discovered that early on and made money around the neighborhood burning DC games XD
im surprised that many people owned one!
My friends and I did the same and played all the Japanese ones
I mean dreamcast is goated
RIP Shenmue
Soul caliber on launch with a first party arcade stick
Soul Calibur was amazing. Also Power Stone
Yeah
Also Marvel vs Capcom 2 basically arcade quality at home
Ready 2 rumble boxing
R2R was awesome xD

Alright, we're back on the hype train then
The only one's I saw talked about PS4/5 only
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8ogtUklbPs - I'm kind of split on this. On one hand, I don't think review units are especially necessary in this case because we more or less know what we're getting with Switch 2, on the other I agree that it's a consumer unfriendly precedent to set. Though I guess it's just the logical extension of game companies treating early adopters as their unpaid beta testers

Ultimately the moral the industry keeps teaching us is "don't be a day 1 buyer"
never.
Like, it's not just "no review units", literally Switch 2s need a day 1 patch in order to even function
They're paperweights until Nintendo says so
ya, like you should NEVER play a game that's in early access, let alone the first month of launch.
-cough-Enshrouded-coughcough-
xD I mean especially for hardware. I want a Switch 2 but all things considered (limited supply at launch, not revealing hardware specs before launch, not allowing outlets to review 3rd party games for performance before launch, etc) I'm more convinced than ever to wait 6 months and see how it shakes out
And especially considering the issues with the original Switch hardware, namely the Joycons. I'd find it hard to believe they haven't addressed them after that but that too has me in more of a wait and see mindset
i'll buy a switch 2 if I can get one for under 400 and the new zelda game makes link a lefty again.
otherwise hardpass.

I mean, between the pretty huge 3rd party support and the 1st party titles I know I'll want, I'm getting one eventually, they've just convinced me not to want one in the next 6 months or so, so I can get a full picture, maybe find one discounted, but also the library at launch is nothing worth rushing out for. A bunch of games you can already get on Steam plus Mario Kart and that Donkey Kong thing

Has anyone managed a good 007 game since Goldeneye?
devs behind Hitman though
but goldeneye wasn't good as much as it was "best we had"
although maybe it's just me, going back to old console controls for shooters is often abysmal and that N64 controller...
Goldeneye introduced the console generation to FPS's. That was why it was so popular.
perfect dark was suppsed to be a goldeneye sequal
i mean, ya, to be fair, perfect dark being better is kind of a, well no shit.
I think If I ever had friends who wanted me to bust out my old N64 i'd go on ebay and buy a bunch of those reshaped controllers.

with better controls, sure.
That's what I mean, if you take the of-the-time aspects away and could do a modern remaster with modern controls but still have it be beat-for-beat the original, it'd probably still blow away modern attempts

Well I mean specifically 007 attempts, but it'd stand up with current shooters. Maybe not as the best of the best but at very least on par
But also I feel like every attempt at Bond the character since Daniel Craig doesn't quite work. In that trailer the impression I got is someone got some Nathan Drake into my Sam Fischer. It doesn't scream "Bond" to me
Trailer looks good, it just doesn't give me a Bond feel outside of the theme music
the best era was Roger Moore with all the spy gadgets.
for me the one thing I liked about james bond were all the cool spy gadgets.
a lot of the rest of it I hated.
Moore was a good era. Connery and Brosnan too, those are probably my top 3
We don't talk about Timothy Dalton
totally. although brosnan had some bad movies
honestly the movie goldeneye wasnt half as good as the game.

Best announcement that whole state of play
is that an MGS3 remake? I never could decide what difficulty to play on.
Also I always wanted to play Twin Snakes 3 times in a row but after each time I bought it I for some reason deleted my progression like an absolute fool and never got my third playthrough with both reward items. and each time I played it I did worse than the last. so weird.

For modern fighters, ASW has been top of the class for years
I mean yeah, Arc is solid, but hard to say better than Capcom? IDK, only the actual game will tell
TBF true, they've been more interested in releasing compilations lately
Granblue, Dragonball, Guilty Gear Strive are all super good
I will also love Capcom arcade fighters but they really haven't done anything
And the budget they gave the latest MvC was so bad
That the game ended up dog tier
The trailer for the new Marvel looks really good. It will be interesting how they handle it
Supposed to be 4v4 or something
Which means crazy roster
4v4 would be some wild matches
But also what kind of roster will they have? One of the reasons MvC worked is because once you get past the relatively small list of A-Tier Marvel characters, they get pretty odd
For 4v4 you're going to need a pretty massive character selection so fights don't get repetitive fast
The character designs are so amazing

Max is my spirit animal
Admittedly it's nice to see Ghost Rider represented. I loved Ghost Rider back in the day and I feel like he never gets represented much
In spite of having one of the better character designs. I mean, biker with a flaming skull for a head who fights with chains xD
I mean that, but in general Ghost Rider has had/been in hardly any games and one cheesy movie with Nicholas Cage
You got so many. All of the mcu heroes and villains
Fantastic 4. Xmen
That's what I mean, outside of the core X Men and Avengers, and a handful from Spider Man, the characters in the MCU get pretty weak pretty fast (not physically, like conceptually)
It's not long before you're dragging out characters like Lockjaw or Darkhawk
I am going to play the HELL outa this when its out. LOVE the anime style rework the characters have
Like marvel has the biggest roster to pull from
I mean again, they have a LOT of characters that are just kind of odd or don't really hold up on their own. It's part of what's great about Marvel, they're so experimental, but also outside of the handful of big names the Marvel Universe gets pretty weird pretty fast
Not saying it can't be done I'm just curious what kind of roster they'll wind up coming up with
Like without another property to help balance it out
Imagine if they brought out frog thor......
Venom, Carnage, maybe Electron and Goblin. So add in Black Cat and you have 9
Plus Spidey, 10
Maybe Rhino
Mysterio
Vulture and scorpion too
Yup
Vulture is kind of digging
there is no shortage of marvel characters to pull from without even touching the likes id Frog thor
Hobgoblin
Yeah but now we're already hitting variants. Goblin/Hobgoblin, Hulk/Red Hulk
I mean, I'd assume Hulk would be in there
It'd be kind of weird if he wasn't
And granted Gob/Hob are two different characters but like for a fighting game how much different would they be fundamentally
nightcravler
Wolv, Cyc, Storm, Jean, Nightcrawler,
Deadpool!!
Sabretooth
and he must have Ryan Reynolds voice!
Haha
Throw in nicepool for flavor🤣
Juggs
Mr sinister
Magneto of course
White Queen
Haven't even talked about all the GOTG, Fantastic 4 heroes and villains
Isn't Fantastic 4 still in a chokehold because of Fox?
Im sure they will be fine filling out a hefty roster of well known characters
Nah. They even have trailers of the new movie
Fair. Plus I'm completely overlooking that Dr Doom was in the trailer xD
I think its the next MCU movie since Thunderbolts had them in it
Doom looked absolutely sick
That'd be nice, because Fox hasen't done anything with it in 20 years
I have so many fond memories of mvc and schooling my friends in the way of whoopass
xD Way back in the day there was a MAME plugin called Kaillera, that allowed for netplay on arcade emulators with public lobbies. I spent many, many hours in pick up games of MVC and KOF 2k2
Even had the setup where you could have 4 players on MVC where each player controls a different character
KOF also, you could do 3v3 with 6 players
Mvc2 for dreamcast
Was a core memory
Unlocking to a roster of 56 characters was so fun in that game
theres some old pc fighting game that might be other there with hundreds of fanmade character like goku ssj5 and stuff.
cant remember what its called.
Mugen sounds about right.
Sounds like Mugen. Rather than a game, it's more like an open source fighting game engine where people can basically add whatever they want
So naturally hijinks ensue and you get fights like Goku vs Big Bird etc
yeah
i have a mugen with like a crazy sized roster but its not like balanced for shit
which is also mvc2
i havent thought about that game since like 2007
i recall silver haired goku. thats it.

250 hours, man, imagine sinking that much time into ONE game!
Force sinks that much time into every game lol
He definitely breaks the game reviewer stereotypes, he is super dedicated to the games he reviews
oh I was just making a joke about how I have like 930 hours in enshrouded.
he can actually beat the first level?
Lmao I’ve sunken around 600hrs into enshrouded. Finally found a game that passed my 500 hours in fallout 4 🤣🤣😂😂
930hrs is insane! I love it 😂😎
it's going to be at number 2 for a long time for me
all the bethesda games are 200-400 hours for me (except FO3 which i mostly played on my brothers Xbox)
Torchlight 2 and Terraria are in my top 5.
i have 600 hours in ark
It'll be a while till anything passes ESO on my list
This is a bit part of why I like his reviews, he really plays each game thoroughly and if anything changes his thoughts he updates. That and he has pretty balanced, reasonable takes
i got like 3300 in gta online

Like I'd buy the whole "this is just a technical presentation to show the things we're excited to bring to the game" if they didn't have a guy on stage pantomiming with a controller like he was actually playing it -.-
at this point i don't know how another video game crash has not happened yet
doesnt CDPR own GOG?
they do
shame. gog is so cool. how ironic.
Well like, they own it but they didn't create it, do the things that made it cool, or even maintain it. It's just a thing they own
Actually I take that back, in a respect they founded it
GOG.com is a separate subsidiary of CD Projekt, though it is often seen as a sister company to CD Projekt Red
hmm
Though I think it's completely segregated from what CDPR does

I'm less surprised that they were damaging Switch 2s with staples and more surprised people are still going to GameStop for preorders
where else would you go? walmart?
Directly through Nintendo. Maybe Best Buy
I mean if you're preordering a Switch 2 I'm betting you have regular internet access, literally no reason to go through GameStop
Why in the H E doublw hockey sticks would they use staples and not tape????
I asked myself the same question and the only answer I can come up with is "because GameStop"
And their long, storied tradition of having some kind of massive, catastrophic screw up every time something big launches

The Nintendo Switch 2 is finally here, let's talk about my first 24 hours with the console. It has some neat new features, but in the end it feels more evolutionary than revolutionary.
Best Buy: https://bestbuy.7tiv.net/jeZv0v
Walmart: https://www.walmart.com/shop/switch2
ONN microSD Express card: https://www.walmart.com/ip/ONN-MICRO-SD-EXPRE...
you know what i hate about the switch? it's just a bloody tablet with some controllers attached
ive been dying since the GC for them to just make a normal damn console.
Owning a Switch Lite and having played the OG Switch, it really does feel different. I had an Asus gaming tablet around the time of the Switch launch and the experience really is leagues different
Like it feels like what console gaming should be headed towards
Just the ability to take your game from the TV to the bedroom to the toilet and back again, vs PS/Xbox which both just feel like specialized, less powerful PCs
I really can't fault them for the innovation
That said other handhelds do it better in terms of power or ergonomics or functions, but as a single package Switch does a lot of things very well
In speaking to the Switch vs Tablet thing, playing on tablet with an expanding controller was cool but felt a little fiddly, and you could only do so much with it. Picking up my Switch Lite, I feel like I'm playing a current gen game and it just works. No frames, no stutters, no settings or setup. Pick it up, play a game
Until you get on the e-shop -.-
The Nintendo e-shop runs on pencil lead and has the performance of a snail trying to cross a street
i just want a console to be a powerful cosole, and im sorry, but, I miss the game boy line. I liked when there was gimmicks tying gameboy and console games together, well, sort of.
i hated using the GBA controller instead of a controller for 4 swords and crystal chronicles
im also sad the PSP line failed.
That's one gripe I have with the Switch/Switch Lite, the controls are designed for tiny, tiny elves
to be fair though im tied to my PC too hard.
i barely touch my portable consoles anymore.....
This times 1,000, the PS Vita was great and too ignored
one day i'll finish chrono trigger and golden sun lost age......
i did recently buy a new psp battery, and then latery found one in storage that wasnt bloated lol
ive "tossed" at least 2 bloated psp batteries.
These days Sony seems stuck on the PS Portal, which is a terrible substitute
Like apparently it's gotten better but like, what's the point when you're still married to the console itself?
I'd rather use a PC handheld that does more or wait for a Steam Deck 2 and grab the big Sony titles when they eventually hit Steam

See CDPR? You can say it's not actual gameplay in your trailer
So I'm not alone in feeling it feels kind of milquetoast and stupid to base an MMO around a giant box xD
"So like, think Halo, but square"
Is this the Skinner Box we've been talking about? xD
Well, to be fair the setting of Atomic Heart was the most interesting piece of it. But the stuff shown in that screams "extraction game" more than "MMO" to me
I'll bet you $50 right now that the gameplay involves going to the cube, gathering resources and defeating enemies (and maybe other players) and extracting to the "base".
That too. Also the lingering shot on the female characters belly button annoys me. Just make a good game, don't try to pander to me as your "target male audience". That alone sets off my alarm bells
If you had enough of the right gameplay, gratuity wouldn't be necessary
Yeah, I agree in general, though you can have both. It's amusing how many asks there have been on the feature upvote for sexier armor in Enshrouded 😝
Every frame of a game trailer is a highly cultivated thing. People spent weeks deciding what to show and feature and when part of that is just a female character model in a skin tight extremely revealing costume with lingering shots, you're telling me that your gameplay wasn't enough to showcase
Indeed
Literally she isn't doing anything cool, she's just kind of.. walking
Something something reveal trailer
But yeah, to your main point, a rotating cube as the primary environment for a MMO doesn't have me leaping out of my seat
Well and like, there's no intrigue. No antoganist. What are we fighting against? CUBE What is the main driving force behind the plot? CUBE Why do we need to become stronger and what do we need to overcome? CUBE
What makes me want to live in Cubeworld, not that Cubeworld but this Cubeworld, and why do I care? xD
Yeah, ironically it feels kind of... one dimensional 😝
Seemed like the cube was more a representation for a portal for groups of people to enter into other worlds to explore.
I dunno it seemed like there were a couple scenes in there of people leaping onto different sections of a map as it started to diverge
But obviously it's not gameplay, so until we see that I'm going to assume it's a cover-based shooter ala Outriders 😝
I'm expecting a kind of Once Human thing where it's actually based around a different genre but tacks on MMO to try to bring in more of that crowd
It doesn't feel legitimate
Like what is the world? Who are the powers at play? Why do I care? xD
"OMG we got this big F-ing cube!" Okay, what makes me care about it?
Yeah, as a reveal trailer it misses a lot of obvious hooks for MMO folks. Like I said, extraction is the vibe I get from it.
Stop me before I start ranting about community and large group interactions being the key element of MMOs again, heh
okay who has a belly button fetish....
I mean, it isn't that but over 30-some-odd-years of being advertised to as a gamer, I recognize pretty immediately when I'm being pandered to
ya. honestly while i have zero issue with fan service, i also dont play games with it. for reasons.

Like, when you have to push your female character's femininity so far foreword, it means you don't have any actual gameplay reasons for me to be interested
It's filler designed to distract me from the fact that there isn't enough substance to fill a 3 minute trailer
Not to say that can't be artistic and cool in certain applications, but when it's as abrupt as that you're telling me a lot about what you have to offer
If it was say, a Lara Croft game where a female protagonist was at the forefront, okay. For an MMO? 🤔
Femininity can be a really strong character trait, if that's the character. This isn't one of those games xD
One of the great things about MMOs is customization, and I'm not sure that this trailer really showed off anything that showcases that. Like one of the main things that makes that sort of hyperfeminine options is the existence of other options for people who prefer to look otherwise.
Also I had to rewatch it to be sure, but I don't think we see a single shot of a male character in anything other than standard military-looking gear.
There might be one brief flash of one
Mildly amusing
Which kind of drives my point xD
Yeah, I mean MMOs generally have a hard time with reveal trailers because there's just... so much to a good one.
It's hard to capture it in a 90 second trailer
I mean again, you could talk about the driving forces behind the world, show some cool gameplay hooks, showcase your character customization or how you can customize your place in the world. This game? "We got f-king CUBES"
"What are they? WE DON'T KNOW! F-KING CUBES!"
this was such a disappointment
Description/screen seems cool
unfortunately it won't be coming out because the dev was outed as a pedo
i would legit play Cones of Dunshire.
Like I get what you mean, it sucks that what looks like a good game was scrapped for not-game reasons but like, all for the best
what i mean is its disipointing the creator of the game is a pos
It always sucks when promising things are tainted by the actions of their creators, that's for sure.
I mean realistically all we as gamers care about is the end product, the game. Like it sucks the game isn't happening but also like, it isn't disappointing that the creator was outed as a POS it's a net positive, because he can't continue to be a POS and better, more respectable developers will finish what he couldn't because he was too busy being that POS
As ever game design is an iterative art form and even if one promising developer winds up being shitty, several more will step up and take their place
watching his devlogs was fun though 😄

Thiers going to be a demo of this during next fest
roguelite.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
???????
JUST LET ME PLAY THROUGH THE GAME
im sick of so many cool shooters just being roguelikes, it's just lazy.
cause hey, i make mistakes, more than most, so I never make it past like level 3.
so i wasted my money on a game that should have had normal progression.
Siiick. I love roguelites!
im sick of them. booooooooooo
its just a lazy way of of avoiding actually making a full length game.
@vague galleon just sounds like its a genre not for you. Especially if you can't finish one.
maybe, but I love good shooter and I just feel tricked.
the only roguelike I enjoy is/was RoR2
Not sure what's tricking you. Too challenging? You get perma upgrades so that you should eventually beat whatevers gating you from winning a run
Oh wait. You wrote roguelike not lites
is there even a difference?!
Yeah
thinking I found a fun new shooter and it's just a "ooweewoowee procedural levels!" and not an actual lengthy game.
Roguelikes dont have anything that carries over
That's the fun of that one
And its not harder
Its potentially much easier depending on the trait
Not shooters but if you want a good roguelike experience that can show you the potential of the genre try Hades or Dead Cells
Both great games that do roguelike really well
Delver was decent.
Yeah, lite not like, but as far as the core gameplay loop
my brain is never going to get that right, words too similiar.
Like = truly start over every time you die, gameplay loop results in trial and error to get further each time. Lite = start over but keep some form of progression from the previous run, resulting in growing stronger with each new attempt
Get stronger "every" run? Roguelite
ziggurat requires too much grinding to gain any advantages.
my one complaint about risk of rain 2 is not being able to save my run for later. would be so cool.
like let me save 2-3 runs. >_>
i never could beat the final boss in FTL and the one good mod was never updated for the dlc.
How I met a real mother f’er.
I love that he did a Doogie Howser bit for it xD
i hope we get a demo or playtest of this

am i the only one who thinks the way steam is doing its game events is ultra confusing
its not their events so that is why it looks so confusing. There are multiple things going on at the same time.
Yeah, there's Summer Games Fest, The PC Gaming Show, and Gamesummit all happening at once along with the Switch 2 launch. Journalists are existing entirely on caffeine right now
its too much
They're all getting their big announcements in ahead of the holiday season but also summer when school is out and a lot of the world goes on vacation is the best time to get a lot eyes on your new trailers
i tried the fall of Avalon demo
How was it
One of my buddies loves it, I fully intend to load it up at some point
Grimdark Arthurian Skyrim is a solid combo for me
It has my interest. Especially considering the full list of confirmed MMOs releasing this year are 7, and 4 of those are cross platform with mobile -.-
you guys post a new game every day, you gotta be millionaires to buy and play this many games 😆
lol
Watch as one of the developers behind the upcoming first-person open-world RPG Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon walks you through 26 minutes of gameplay. It is in development for PC.
#IGN #Gaming
i dunno none of these games scream buy me to me
this video starts with npc talking forever and putting me to sleep
Following and learning about games is exactly what you do when you're not a millionaire. You make educated choices so you don't waste your money
is that as fast as you can walk in this game?
the rate at which he is walking is getting on my nerves 😆
can he shift run please
is the character wearing full plate mail or something
why is the character so slow
cinematic gameplay mode
the game doesn't really capture anything, at least in this gameplay video
it's just a mine, with monsters they invented
typically not a fan of horror games, which invent monsters
puts it in high fantasy for me
like high imagination or horror culture, vs mythology/established monsters
you could invent monsters that have a mythological basis though
like you say avalon, and king arthur, but im not getting anything that feels like that lore or magic or location, the castle and the guy speaking in a british accent is not enough. you can get that in games not even located in britain.
seems more like a psychological horror/myst puzzle game at the rate this guy is walking making everything cinematic lol
so its loosely based on avalon meaning they used the name avalon and thats it
would be cool to have a game actually based on welsh mythology
The Otherworld is usually called Annwn in Welsh mythology and Avalon in Arthurian legend. In Irish mythology it is Tír na nÓg. There is also Mag Mell and Emain Ablach, Tech Duinn, the last of which is where the souls of the dead gather. the Otherworld in Welsh mythology. Ruled by Arawn[1][2] (or, in Arthurian literature, by Gwyn ap Nudd[3]), it is a world of delights and eternal youth where disease is absent and food is ever-abundant.
if devs read history/mythology it would be nice
Achren has been thought of as a goddess. She is mentioned as fighting in the Battle of Godeu. But the manuscript that speaks of her is very late – in fact, from the 17th century! We are told in this late source that the god Bran was also in the battle, and that if anyone could guess either her name or his, then the side that person was on would win the battle. Bran had with him sprigs of alder (or alder depicted on his shield), and it was because of this that Gwydion was able to guess his name. For was not Bran’s son named Gwern, which in Welsh is ‘Alder’?
But Achren herself was not a goddess – she was a divine bird from Annwn, the Otherworld. In the Welsh Triads we are told that the cause of the Battle of Godeu was the theft of a plover, white roebuck and a whelp from Arawn, Lord of Annwn, by Amaethon son of Don. When the tale is told in the 17th century, only the white roebuck and whelp are said to be the cause of the battle. The plover is oddly missing.
So what happened to the plover? This bird in the early Welsh tongue was ‘chornugil’, and in the text of the Triads chornugil is preceded by ‘a’. Achren is nothing more than a corruption for ‘a chornugil’. In other words, Achren is the plover of Annwn.
This is why she is paired with Bran, whose name means ‘Raven’. They were both sacred birds of the Gangani or ‘Branch’ people. The plover migrates very long distances, and often does so without stopping along the way. Its flight is rapid, and it also is quick to give alarm calls, and so is the sentinel for other shorebirds.
like i want to play a game with goddess birds
In Welsh mythology and literature, the Pair Dadeni (Cauldron of Rebirth) is a magical cauldron able to resurrect the dead. It plays a key role in Branwen ferch Llŷr, the second branch of the Mabinogi. It is one of a number of magic cauldrons in Welsh legend and folklore, including the cauldron of Diwrnach the Irishman in Culhwch and Olwen, the cauldron of the Head of Annwn in Preiddeu Annwfn and the cauldron of Cerridwen in the tale of Taliesin.
like there is crazy magical stuff in welsh mythology
probably moreso than norse
In Welsh mythology, the Pair Dadeni, known as the Cauldron of Rebirth, appears in the second branch of the Mabinogi. It could return the dead to life but without the power of speech.
the only recently invented lore i ever really liked was ultima online, but thats because they wove in virtues and good music.
put in good music and you can sell your lore to me
good this the kind of game i can sink my teeth into
play the demo. it does a better job than this ign video
Without diving too much into it, King Arthur and the knights of the court are all very important features to the game.
