It actually asked you to sign up day 1 and they took it down due to issues
mine has been linked since day 1
That’s irrelevant.
Asf
but yeah, its a shit move
and it sucks for Arrowhead
they already acknowledged it
but i doubt it kills the game
kinda weird though that two months later you still upset at them XD
Meanwhile.. your GOTY...
2.1 million to 40k players
I mean, it's not really a game that need a consistent online playerbase to be a success. Their box sales are a huge success already
How won’t it kill the game
U can’t even play if u brought it outside of certain countries
clearly.. it hasn't... it has 80k players playing right now
We’ll see as we get close to June 4th
The same company who can’t keep employee data safe lol
you so dumb
XD
thats been a thing for years and you wanna bring that up as an arguement now XD
at least you aren't bringing up that anti cheat you cried about since day 1
the one you claimed kill the game before it released
Or, now hear out this suggestion we can just not argue about it at all and keep things focused on more positive aspects of gaming. We'll see what happens but there's no use speculating on it right now.
Yeah, we're not using this discord as a drama farm though.
@tepid wadiDid you ever end up picking up No Rest for the Wicked?
In other news, the V Rising 1.0 is looking pretty slick
Yeah, I've played through the first 2/3 of it so far. Great setting, visuals and combat. Looking forward to having more content and story stuff happen.
There are some things I'd probably do different, but overall it's a great start for a game.
I think im almost done now but it has been a fun ride
the art style is probably my favorite in a long time
what kind of character did you make?
im a fasty boi with dual daggers
Big heavy 2hander guy, my got-
basically just dex build with equip load stats so i can equip decent armor
I dropped this the other day but haven't 2 handed yet myself
Yeah, I'm lightly armored strength build
2Handing is definitely hard, some of the mobs have attack patterns that are tough to find an opening in.
Ironically, I find the bosses to be easier than some of the regular mob encounters.
yeah, thats the one thing about being a fast boi
i can literally just iframe everything
so much mobility that you can easily outplay everything with dual daggers including bosses
Yeah, speed definitely seems to be a big thing
I love the big super attack on the greatsword though, it's fun to chunk like 1/4 of a boss's health
that sounds awesome haha
i already stopped playing hd2
was it originally released on PS? why are they calling it a PS game?
i thought it was developed for PC and console at the same time
if it was PC port from console that was already bad news, and then it would make sense to require PSN account
if it wasn't then it makes no sense to declare it a PS game, just because sony prefers PS
i'm still waiting for them to release the big bug boss
arrowhead game devs swedish also? i recognized the trolling nature of swedish game design in their game 😄
anyway i already own the game so i'll probably have to sign up or not play it
i don't even own a PS console
have been PC gamer all my life
i got a few PS2 emulators once and played them

Experimenting shall proceed later today. . .
In what way? ^^
oh just hell divers 2 feels pretty trollish the way the gameplay is, any game with friendly fire enabled, and 360 degree turrets, mortars that can't aim, and holes a player can fall through, and where if you turn too fast in the mech while shooting you blow yourself up is a bit trollish.
and valheim are also swedish dev team and their game is super trollish and frustrating, basically every 20 minutes you are annoyed, never saw a person in valheim VC not complaining about something.
but to combat this stereotype, core keeper devs are also swedish and it doesnt feel trollish
Not sure cus i havent played those ^^ i am swedish tho so was interesting
there 2 types of swedish people/game devs the super troll, and the super kind person, reflects in the games being developed 😄
Id say i feel helldivers2 are swedish in that they mock military nationalism, as far as i hear ^^
i wonder if game dev teams just move to sweden to make games
but their teams are more multinational anyway
because there's a lot of game dev teams in sweden
Were not very against foreigners in general i guess ^^ well, times i europe are messy atm so, but well lets not go to political
and successful ones i think
Minecraft was a very sucessful swedish game, until notch sold and became.. ego
Notch and jeb held the forth, then uk grum and dinnerbone and us lydia joined which was nice too
Dont remember the others (sorry others <3)
This is a list of video game companies originating from Sweden.
Also sad that dice (i think) got gobbled up into EA
yeah they have pugstorm (core keeper), iron gate (valheim) coffestain (valheim), and helldivers 2 (Arrowhead) on that list.
Sweden also had a strong scene back with the Amiga (also some very known.. uhm seas sailing game-borrowing groups) started there, some crackers became gamedevs, some kept their.. side hobby ^^
lol paradox is swedish
Right that too ^^
that explains a lot
crusader kings 3, is basically 5 hours you getting your face stomped in by the AI
on easy setting
Ive friends that love crusader kings, but im too bad at strategy of that kind ^^
So many things i get lost ^^
I want it simple, here is you, you have sword, this is world go explore. Grawrh! ^^
Or specific turn based like bg3 and roguelikes ^^
Has anyone played V-Rising a fair amount? I'm curious how good it is.🤔
Very good
It was a little rough on initial release, but their last patch made it amazing. I'm super stoked for the 1.0 in a few days
Solid progression, fun combat, great base building, fun exploration. Not too grindy, lots of different mechanics, just all around great.
It was okay when I played a year ago. I didn't like the fact that you could sit and wait for someone to be half way through a boss or finish a boss and then swoop in and murder them.
The bosses weren't very hard until other players were involved and then it was practically impossible if anyone else showed up.
Ah yeah, I haven't played it PvP
I had a lot more fun running a server and setting up events or messing with players.
Some of the later bosses could be challenging
Oh interesting I thought most people played it pvp.
Nah, I gave up on PvP survival games after playing Hardcore Official Ark for like a year
There were 2 bosses that had a difficulty spike but the rest I wished were harder.
You missed out on having the slaves help protect your base and sieging other players bases.
We're probably going to do PVP in our 1.0 playthrough, we'll see what happens
Haha yeah, frog is especially weird, maybe there'll be a use for it in 1.0. It sounds like they're doing a lot of revamps/improvements, so I'm curious to see how it all works now.
Bear was used for like 1 thing. The bat and the wolf were the only useful ones and the rat was questionable
The bat was really annoying though it made it so your base design was very limited.
Hunting for good NPCs and capturing 100% blood types and stuff was always great
I think they added the alchemist in the last update? I don't remember for sure
Having admin was cool I got to see all the equipment they didn't add yet I wonder if it's officially in the game now
I bet a lot is
This def felt like the move. Just the way the game played made it really good for pvp
It was fun taking over servers and battling other players
the pve in the game was just okay imo
Also think that most of the forms were actually useless... i only really used the wolf form
bat was really good for getting into bases people thought were safe.
Rat was solid for recon
the funniest moments I had was with admin. I would teleport into their base as a rat hide in a corner and start talking to them. It scared the crap outa so many people.

what am i looking at?
RIP Helldivers 2
I just realized that most games nowadays does not play a demo if you wait at the title screen and not press a button. Was the PS2 days the last time we saw a demo play itself?
(It's called "Title Screen Trailer", just googled it)
Helldivers fans -- we’ve heard your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update. The May 6 update, which would have required Steam and PlayStation Network account linking for new players and for current players beginning May 30, will not be moving forward.
We’re still…
FOR DEMOCRACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ha...
I tried Manor Lords now for almost 10 hours.
I feel too dumb to play it. First I never get people to move in, second I get defeated in all battles. I'm really good.
ha. a victory for FREEDOM 🇺🇸🦅
Hey. At least I had 100% approval from the people despite the 20% tax. Besides, is it really freedom if the rival lord just kills all my people?
i mesnt for helldivers lol
Oh. Okay.
Spread democracy. I try to Lord my peasants.
Democracy what?
Sony dont want democracy tho. 🤣🤣

Hades 2 hit EA today
out of the big corpo pubs.. they probably have my favorite games
I rather play Sony games over MS, Ubisoft, EA, Blizzard
i dont any of them could ever count as best publisher tho XD
Because they are one of the top choices for small studios indie games.
They are nothing but publishers. Look how they almost f up helldivers 2. 🤣🤣🤣
I just dont know why you gotta say "best publisher" Are there people who actually say that? XD
Technically they are one of the best.
Sony is one of the best imho
Not every publishers can retract their decisions for the sake of community like that
so then why the quotes around best?
Not actually for the community but for the 💸💸
Whaaaat im 😵💫😵💫
Wait am I against it or not? 😵💫😵💫😵💫
Wait the quote made it like sarcasm right?? I made the quote to point it out lol. Not for it to appear sarcastic. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫
lmao
for anyone who hasnt played in awhile and might be thinking of getting back in now that it is at 1.0

After 2 years in early access V Rising has come a long way, today we take an updated look at this Multiplayer, Open World, Vampire Survival game. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/V_Rising_Force Thanks to Stunlock Studios for sponsoring todays video, and for giving us an early look at the game.
Yeah, my group is hyped for 1.0. We started a couple days early because we didnt read the launch notes that we'd have to start over.
We'll have to redo act 1 which isnt a huge deal.
I need to get back to playing sacred gold. I loved it when I first bought it like a decade ago and then fell off it terribly. luckily i found a discord communtiy. ❤️
i dont want to think of how old that game is now, it was old when I found it!
I remember playing sacred gold when it was playable on gamespy mp
https://youtube.com/@Strat-Guides watch this guy's Manor lords YouTube videos. By FAR he has the best videos that I've come across for the game, he gives solid advice and doesn't make many mistakes from what I've seen. Someone can learn 10x times as much from his videos as any other Manor lords videos.

Damn Hades 2.. I was so close to beating D:
Hades 2
The rehadezing
Can't believe MS shut down Tango after Hi-Fi Rush was such a success z.z
Hopefully they get moved somewhere else and not actually lose their jobs cuz that game was fantastic
Soulmask, the upcoming 500-hour open-world survival game where you'll use ancient mystical masks to control NPCs and build a tribe and one of the standout games from February's Steam Next Fest, will be launching into Early Access on June 18. Its open beta has also been extended to May 15 if you'd like to check it out: https://store.steampowered....
I've been playing the open beta for soulmask a bit. It's pretty interesting, but definitely has some challenges. I feel like we're seeing a lot of very similar open world UE5 survival games happening right now and they all seem to be having similar issues.
what similiar issues are they having?
The main sell of Soulmask is the Aztec theme, as well as the pseudo-colony builder mechanics that we're starting to get from more survival games.
The similar issues that they're having is that they're very pretty but all start to feel a bit samey after a while of playing. The progression is stretched to make you play longer, but a lot of the stuff your're doing isn't actually fun. A good easy comparison is Bellwright and Soulmask.
Bellwright is medieval vs Soulmask's tribal theme.
-They both include colony builder mechanics where you 'recruit' people to work on your settlement. But in both of them, the mechanics for the settlent related stuff feel pretty jankey and are difficult to set up in the way that you like.
-They both have 'active' combat to them. While the styles differ, they both don't feel amazing after a bit of play. In Bellwright it's difficult to take on multiple foes, in Soulmask it feels like R1 spam to just kill things before they kill you.
-The building in both feels rather unrewarding. In Bellwright, you build set buildings, but they look super low tech and don't feel rewarding to build because you aren't interacting with them meaningfully (your colonists do it for you). In Soulmask, it's more like Ark/Conan building, but once you build a station, it either takes you FOREVER to craft all the midpoint materials from the gathered raw materials, or you have your tribemates do it for you.
-In both games, the UI is relatively unintuitive in various ways and doesn't feel good to interact with.
Neither game has figured out how to make the colony portion feel good with the normal survival busybox and I think that's going to be a real challenge for a game to nail. It has to feel "right", which these ones don't really do.
Palworld, while a very different game on the surface, feels similar in a lot of ways. You attain "colonists" (pals) to do work on your base so you don't have to do it yourself. You can also bring them out to fight with you, to varying effectiveness. It's unique in the pokemon/pal style, but ultimately it feels pretty similar to Bellwright and Soulmask in the actual gameplay, but arguably the meaningful play in Palworld if even thinner because of the way the player interacts with the world, which is just by shooting pals until they're low and then capturing them in the ball.
All three games also include base raids that aren't interesting to a significant degree. There's a group of enemies that run up to your base, they path directly to your stuff, and fight you. There aren't interesting mechanics regarding base defense, it's just you and your colonists fighting a wave of enemies that is fairly generic and not different from other raids or enemies you'd encounter in the world.
Note; I don't think they're bad games or that they are no fun or no one should play them or anything. But under the hood, they all feel... the same.
I am starting to become 'full' on 'build base colony' type crafting games to be honest,
Need something.. new and different ^^
At most a homebase would be as a background aside and not the focus point all the time sorta
I was about to say this sounds exactly like Bellwright haha
See, I think it's okay that they have common mechanics, but it's not okay that they feel like the exact same mechanics. It makes all of them feel like they're using asset store systems that they just skinned to their game and that makes all of them less fun to play.
yeah, they need to use the colony mechanics to evolve the gameplay in meaningful and interesting ways. But instead it's like you're doing the same survival craft loop, but now you have NPCs that do a lot of the 'menial' work for you. But they also haven't replaced that menial work with anything noteworthy so it makes the rest of the game feel super hollow.
And part of the fun of survival/craft games is that mindless chore loot of gathering and crafting, but now they've interrupted it by making the NPCs do the work instead.
Too much automation takes away gameplay too yeah
There is so much overlap in survival games imo. It really makes games like Valheim, V Rising, and Enshrouded stand out
Yep, totally agree. Those games are all clearly doing their own thing, and it really makes them stand out in a sea of similar feeling survival games.
I love survival games, but just like other genres we're getting to a market saturation point where it's not enough to copy mechanics from other games and stick them together with a new skin.
I like how there was an article stating that palworld "clones" were popping up. Well palworld is basically Ark with a different catch mechanic.
well we all know that is a lie. Everyone knows every game ever, is just a "clone" of Pong.
OXO came before that though
survival builders need to integrate into a story more
this way the story is what really keeps you hooked
I'd say the thing that the best survival games have in common is clear goals and progression.
Valheim has their zones/bosses. V Rising has the VBlood bosses, Enshrouded has story quests... they all facilitate exploration and progression through clear tangible goals.
how would you describe abiotic factor?
I havent played it yet. So I'm not sure
it has zones, i guess, and sort of story quests
But Ark and Conan for example start to struggle when the progression slows down and you arent sure what to do next. Ark more than Conan because at least Conan has the Journey stuff
yeah they give a little too much freedom on leveling to learn recipes should have more go out and find out stuff and everything
Isnt the whole game based around story? And then you get to discover more about it through NPCs you find and emails on computers.
I still need to finish it but I think I'm 90% done
yeah, it's quest based
So like Enshrouded, but with the SCP foundation, got it 😝

I love conan if it wasnt for the light source leaking through the walls.
IDK if they fixed it but its a problem since the beginning.
What is this?
It's a Vampire Survival game that released today.
Never heard of Blood Moon Oasis. Have you played it yet?
I'm pretty sure it's not a game, I think it's just at themed discord community around V Rising
Maybe with mods (but probably not right away with 1.0)
Its UE4 standard if you have live (not baked) lights,
Calculating wall bounce in realtime is expensive resource wise so live building ue4 is often like this.
Ohhh lol. I saw the AI art and thought it was a game release.
I see it now. Who ever made that page needs to brush up on their skills. In small letters it says "A V Rising community" in red letters in a partially red background.
people are saying its like scp and half life
but i never played SCP so i don't know if that's true
abiotic factor is BIGGER than i thought it was though
definitely pretty huge for an early access release
if this was all the game was, it would have been worth th $20 in my opinion
but it's going to have 3 more major updates by end of this year (similar to enshrouded goal of releasing 1.0 end of year)
and i also think abiotic dev team is on track to finish, because their game in some ways is a bit easier to dev for than the latest unreal 5 game that uses 1 million polygons or whatever
since they purposfully chose an older art style/look for the graphics, (even though i am sure it's way more advanced than the old stuff and more work went into it still).
Does the game scale enemies with player increase?
I am playing solo and it is pretty easy tbh
Can't imagine if it's the same with more people
That's not what I am asking
i don't know if it scales, i'm not a dev, i didn't notice any difference
between single player and when i played with 3 other friends
If that's the case hopefully they add scaling
SCP isn't a game, it's a sort of collaborative fiction idea about transdimensional entities and eldritch horrors and stuff
but yeah the game has so many settings, it's actually nice to have devs that were that thoughtful about settings, different audio/graphics/gameplay, and world creation settings
so the videos i see on youtube are not a game?
Most of the good survival games have that. So glad they followed suit
Game is likely way too easy with 4 people even on the hardest setting
it's like saying MYST is not a game no?
SCP originally started as a community run wiki of what are essentially horror short stories
MYST is an experience.
I dive in blind into SCP Containment Breach after being requested to do it by all of you. I already beat the game and am uploading it in parts here with some light editing.

Busine...
looks like a game to me?
just not a traditional objective based one maybe
It's a collective universe run by a bunch of random people, kinda like a wiki.
So similarly there's a bunch of SCP games that are made using the same universe, but they're made by all sorts of different people
So none of them are "official"
so SCP itself is not a game, but SCP containment breach is a game 😛
ye
i see
https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/ this is where they all come from (there's horror/disturbing fiction on this site as a warning)
The SCP Foundation's 'top-secret' archives, declassified for your enjoyment.
cool
Other games like Control, Lethal Company, and Once Human kind of fit the description as well
Whether or not they expressly are part of it
Yeah there are a lot of unofficial SCP games and films and stuff, the copyright of SCP in general is sketchy so a lot of artists make SCP-inspired things without directly naming it
One of the things I like about it is that we all have a sort of collective feat of the cosmic horror style stuff, it's very interesting
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOxarwd3eTs for example this insanely good short film, only really mentions SCP in name but otherwise doesn't take any of the ideas from existing SCP stories

but eldritch stuff predates the idea of scp anyway no?
Hey hey... I'm a developer not an artist... I use the A EYE's to build images. But yeah.. most of the time that image is in the context of V Rising, so appreciate the feedback that the text is small.
Oh yeah of course, SCP is a kind of... Universe concept I guess that ties a bunch of vague horror ideas together
so some games based on eldritch stuff imo aren't automatically SCP... just because SCP cornered something about it
Yeah, SCP has just inspired a loooot of stuff. I'm mostly just referring to stuff where the artists explicitly said they were inspired by SCP
The SCP universe is essentially an alternate reality where horrific horror things are just like... everywhere. And the "scp foundation" is a fictional entity that tries to categorize and "contain" all of them, to hide and protect the public from their existence.
So it's sorta like, a somewhat grounded/realistic take on "what if eldritch horrors existed and where everywhere but we just didn't know about it". The whole SCP wiki and stuff pretends to take place in the reality we currently live in
A lot of classic internet horror stories and ideas have stemmed from it, a lot of the most famous indie horror videogames were inspired by SCP stuff.
so would umbrella corporation count?
or do the monsters have to be non genetically engineered and more anomolous entities?
lol
they can kinda be whatever, it originally started as mostly just a way for creative horror writers to all share their ideas with each other in a way that was at least somewhat coherent, but it grew massively beyond that at this point
Only real cohesive theme is that every entry on the wiki is written in the style of like, a sort of government document
lots of classified data, codewords, stuff like that
Yeah, I mostly use SCP to describe stuff like it because it's an easy way to categorize things and they all follow those similar trends
Abiotic factor really fits because you're in the facility and stuff
I was always a fan of the tongue-in-cheek way most entries are written lol, they're written like a government employee just documenting things as part of their day job, but the things you're reading are the most eldritch horror disturbing ideas you've ever seen. I always found that charming
Unlike most online creepypasta/horror stuff it's not written like it's trying to scare you, it's almost like it's trying to be factual/informative, even though its fiction. I think it's why it has spawned so many spinoffs, it's "well documented" despite being pure fiction.
there is a lot of fear that the government is the bad guy - i think in part because of classified CIA projects back in the 60s etc, but probably better to have a healthy balance of caution and trust for the government... i think SCP is missing an important factor in goverment corruption, but also in power dynamics, which is that corporations can be just as bad or worse than governments and cover things up and have secret facilities with monsters too!
It's not missing that at all lol
though i guess in SCP the government is trying to protect the public while keeping it secret maybe, moreso than creating the monsters or being responsible for the monsters being in the world (like in stranger things).
one of the core themes of SCP is how corrupt the foundation often is
And yeah it's not a world government, the scp foundation is like, it's own separate entity
But yeah it often has themes of that in a lot of its entries, like the SCP documents casually mentioning their use of sacrificial test subjects on the monsters they are documenting or whatever
i do wonder how they caught any of these monsters
in the containment breach game
the monsters seems so powerful lol
how were they even captured in the first place
containment breach uses all monsters from the actual wiki, at least last time I played it, so you could always just look the monsters up on the wiki and see for yourself
they always have "containment procedures"
here's 096 for example which I remember is in that game https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-096
The SCP Foundation's 'top-secret' archives, declassified for your enjoyment.
that's one of the much older ones, was probably written like almost 2 decades ago at this point lol
oh so putting a bag over its head and it becomes docile
so why contain it in a room without a bag over its head?
LOL
just permenantly staple a bag over it's head and it can be an ornament on someones desk
don't need that whole containment room stuff with pressure sensors
and no cameras
Nah that one will relentlessly seek people out if anyone sees it, even if just a photograph or something
nah cause even old photographs or something
tru
given that it seems to have otherworldly strength and power though it'd probably just take it off lol
because they can't even observe the creature
maybe but the way they describe it, they say it becomes docile, doesn't try to remove the bag
it was just funny reading how they contained it in that contaiment room, but basically without a bag on it's head still
so we don't really know if it removes the bag eventually
or why they'd take the bag off at all
only thing im annoyed about is abiotic factor is not more popular, and the wiki is out of date
like it's out of date from before early access, probably demo version
there's no mention of this creaturem, it's missing backpacks, craftable items etc.
which basically teleports near you and kills you pretty fast
Update it xD
eh, i have no useful info on it, aren't their players who get data on things in game and can read the hitpoints of stuff?
it's how they make the wiki's in the first place
i mean not through playing the game, they read some file or something
pretty sure it's how 50% of content in wikis are made and how they are accurate and have detailed values
plus people can pull up the actual model to use as a picture rather than screenshots from in game
so even my picture is useless unless it's put in a screenshots section
My biggest complaint is mainly around the guns.
Sub machine gun is basically useless since we can't craft ammo. Way better off using the pistol to headshot. Also requiring stupid gloves to use the sub makes it even more useless. Why would I lose the perk from the forge armor set just to use a gun I will run out of ammo for in 2 seconds.
well your complaint stems around 1 or 2 weapons, but a lot of the weapons they also got right or are at least fun to use
the game has a transmogrifier which lets you have cosmetic armor
so some armors ill never wear to replace the set armor i have, but i might put them in my cosmetic slots
I don't care about trans mog since it's a first person game lol.
I agree most of the weapons are solid. Except later in the game when you find a pickaxe and crow bar randomly. They are pretty much crap compared to what you already have by that time you find them.
Overall 8/10 game for me.
i'd say so too, probably would give it 9/10 when it full releases
and if they fix some issues by then

❤️
It's good?
The gameplay looks confusing
Its 2D FFXIV raiding + Rogue like
If you enjoy mmo raid mechanics and coop I recommend trying it out. I think there is a demo still?
Yeah! Grab a friend and make them download it too haha
I haven't tried it solo but I can imagine it would be less fun without a group just like mmo raiding XD

Totally fair, V Rising is an excellent game. I'm enjoying the 1.0 playthrough
One of my buddies is out of town so I'm trying not to play too much and get too far ahead, but it's tough. The game does such a good job of making you want to keep moving forward that it's tough to simmer.
Makes sense to avoid the PR disaster of HD2 haha
Luckily. I'll be able to play the multiplayer!
Deserved. Ghosts of Tsushima is overrated.

just curious, does anyone like playing Sudoku?
Not me, i like words but numbers scare me! ^^
Having a blast with no rest for the wicked so far
Biggest complaint is I can't respec so I'm level 9 and still havent used any stat points lol
Been looking for a recommendation for something involving a nice island survival game-- but I can't help but feel like most of them feel either too clunky, or too boring.
Wayward was fun but felt a bit too overwhelming mid-game
Raft, Survivalists, Stranded Deep-- never felt that fun for some reason.
Sons of the Forest was alright, I just suck at it lol
great game
only thing i dont like is how it kicks my GPU fan into overdrive XD

lol
"The main game is just the beginning. Players will be discovering hidden puzzles for years"
"takes up less storage than a single asset in call of duty"
lol
"it's like video games if they were actually good"
I have played it for awhile.
But honestly, sometimes I did mistakes in the paper version I didn't notice first. Would only play it where AI says I'm wrong to see it directly.
I heard alot recently about Animal Well. Maybe I'll give it a look
this one gotta be nonsense. games are never good!
Animal well is a supercozy exploration 'metroidvania' ^^ loving it
it looks hella creepy
Its just an eerie vibe ^^
i read negative reviews for animal well, the people who negative it really don't like it lol
and i can see why, it's not really their type of game i guess? or not worth the price. but it still has majority positive reviews
When it comes to any "youtuber games", steam reviews will always be fairly inaccurate.
Not saying it's good or bad, haven't played it. But if you want a critical review you should probably find a professional game reviewer on youtube or something
whats a youtuber game, i was wondering about that
a youtuber made it?
since when can youtuber code?
lol
Oh, this game was published by the youtuber Dunkey, it's the first game his publishing compnay has ever published
He didn't make it but he promoted the hell out of it on his channel
It wouldn't surprise me if it was good, just saying the reviews are probably skewed extremely positive from his fans
cant the same be said for any triple A game with a good publishing company who throw millions into marketing?
why single out the youtuber reviews because has some money and fame lol
In this case he funded and published it, so to his fans it's "his" game so to speak
He wasn't just sponsored or made a review or something
Dunkey is probably one of the more prolific/famous PC gaming youtubers, usually pulls millions of views per video
oh yeah i guess 7.5 mill subscribers is a lot - in my personal range i still consider it pre-fame numbers
given how i never heard of them
maybe if they have 20 mill subscribers id have heard of them 😛
Yeah he just has a very diehard fanbase, quite a few games have been make or break because of his reviews.
I don't know much about animal well beyond the fact that he published it though
i doubt people would positive review just based on fan appreciation
which either means the game is okay or good for them
At least on day 1 they definitely did, most of the reviews were just dunkey memes lol, and there was like already over 1k
if the game was trash majority of people who are fans would either not leave a review out of kindness or say its trash
unless he paid them off
Given that it still has overwhelmingly positive after so many days though, I imagine it's good
Was mostly just saying it tends to skew the perspective a bit, if you were looking for a truly objective review
A lot of people really want this game to succeed because they want Dunkey to publish more games
if i was a publisher i'd require every game i throw money at to include my name in the game
as an easter egg
I dont know who made it, but i like metroidvanias. Dont need combat and like the flow of exploration and finding mysteries and secrets in a pretty low-fi mixed with modern style ^^
what would my publishing company be called
Darude Sandstorm
my problem with animal well is its 30$
and i'd probably consider $20 too much for buying it lol
What makes that a bad price?
i can't get into a whole analysis of it
because i don't have 2 hours to look up pixel games
and their prices
Graphic style doesnt dictate effort put into making a game imo, and in the extent price.
price is obviously keeping some people from buying the game, ideally you want to market your game in a way to maximize sales, do you make more money selling one game at 30$ or 2 games at 22$
the answer is 2 games at 22$
instead they will definitely lose the second customer now
marketing is supposed to figure all of this out
but maybe they plan to do a 40% off sale someday
so could work out
i typically get annoyed when games are like "yeah i'm so good i'm worth this much and will never go on sale" yeah except you're not, because i still wont buy you. 😆 if a game only seems interesting/good enough that i would spend 22$ on it, and it's 30$ then i wont spend 30$ that's just how it is. and it's subjective sure..
minecraft did the same thing where they never went on sale and their price actually went up. lol and with minecraft i was guarunteed a huge game with hours of play time and still refused to buy it. a friend had to buy it for me.
factorio does the same thing
"Factorio famously never goes on sale. This means that the best time to buy is now, because the price will only increase."
arrogant, though i guess some people are like "we are morally better than others because we don't engage in sales"
no but you could engage in a sale morally
you could decide what your game is truly worth
and then give a true 50$ discount so you're being ripped off
rather then inflate things and be fake about it
"We state it on our steam page, but people are still asking about it so I want to state it officially. We don't plan any Factorio sale. I'm aware, that the sale can make a lot of money in a short period of time, but I believe that it is not worth it in the long run, and since we are not in financial pressure we can afford to think in the long run. We don't like sales for the same reason we don't like the 9.99 prices. We want to be honest with our customers. When it costs 20, we don't want to make it feel like 10 and something. The same is with the sale, as you are basically saying, that someone who doesn't want to waste his time by searching for sales or special offers has to pay more."
haha what answer is this
people who get "ripped off" not buying things on sale
get to enjoy the game 2 years earlier
people like me literally wait 7 years for a sale
there are some games i never bought while the whole world enjoyed them, and then i got them free on epic games or for 75% sale after 5 years.
i don't see the issue, people who really loved the game, had the money, got to enjoy the game sooner
there's nothing morally wrong with that, especially if it was common knowledge the game has sales
just write on your steam page this game will have 20% off sales or whatever
Tried it and wasn't a fan. Nothing put it apart from any other similar game in the genre. It wasn't bad but it wasn't anything special. To me it's more of a 10$ game.
The reviews are really annoying. 90% of them have nothing to do with gameplay and just meme.
Knowing this dude's fan base I understand it. He has a cult like following lol.

That's their real animated trailer, Ashlands drops today officially
They did one for Mistlands, too
i like the real game trailer they did, this is more artsy trailer
valheim the cartoon
lol
would be funny if they end up having a cartoon
reminds me of 90s cartoons like gargoyles
this trailer is basically saying you need a mage in ashlands or you're doomed
To be fair, a Valheim cartoon could totally rock

have anyobe play Valhiem Ashland yet? How is it?
I am ready to if you want to play it, vanilla.
We're still doing our V Rising playthrough, but pretty stoked to hop in there for it.
Fresh start later today
We are excited
Been having A LOT of fun with Kenshi as of late. Looking forward to kenshi 2 in the next 5 years lol.
never thought RTS + survival craft + open world would be so much fun.
Another EA game that false advertisement and doesn’t deliver on what was promised
When will EA be abolished
I mean early access doesn't really "do" anything, it's just a label that can mean whatever devs want it to mean. A dev could also release a game normally and promise future updates that are never delivered in the same exact way.
that's most mmos imo
Also advertising as F2P turned p2p
playing with others is optional and 9/10 times people just play alone unless it's actually a coop game or a multiplayer game that really encourages people to play together
Wayfinder looks like fortnite
in new world everyone played alone lol unless they were in a guild
neverwinter nights online, i was just doing quests alone even though it's an MMO
Ok but when u advertising as a mmo multiplayer game and guilds and neighborhoods then turn around and say no online no match making single player game
only games like Dungeons and dragons online, felt multiplayer
oh yeah that's outright lying then
It’s just stupid. DE left them . They were already a bad studio to begin with before de left
So I’m not blaming DE
Constant delays of content . Constant roll backs of patches because they break the game
wait are you the person i should blame for windows 11 bugs? (Senior Product Manager@Microsoft) 😆
the same issues from windows 8
I really liked the game to begin with which is why i brought into EA. But when u completely make it something else like it’s a brand new game . Just feel scammed .
Like u did all these talks about all these mmo features and how the game is going be a social game with raids guild’s neighborhoods . We already had open world bosses and zones where u can see other players now all of that is gone
No servers no match making
you can't refund the game?
or it's too late?
No
Steam might give you one but they are extremely inconsistent tbh
Beyond 2 hours it's a gamble
you might be able to refund if it hasn't been 14 days, just explain the EA used to advertise all these things and now it's single player and you want a refund.
But if a game fundamentally changes, they will do it sometimes. They did with helldivers 2 when they announced the sony thing, for example.
No they said digital extremes has the money .
Saw someone with 120 hours in HD2 get a refund lol
yeah that usually means more than 14 days
also to add on there’s now no anti cheat and people will be able to mod anything they want
In game
So founders exclusive items are modded
Well, if it's just single player now, then that's not that big of a deal 😝
Maybe someone will mod in multiplayer
All paid cosmetics are free
Didn't Airship delist the game? They are just trying to change into something they want. They don't have to follow the same failed steps as the former owner of it right?
But yeah sounds like a severe management issue with the studio itself, not really tied to early access. Sounds like it would have ended up a mess no matter what
They wanted the game to be a mmo. Idk wym this is not the path they wanted
Understand not liking what their vision of the game is but don't they have every right to do that?
yeah perhaps single player is transitional, and there could still be multiplayer support later through community or from the devs themselves maybe
They just are not a good game studio
They delisted the game back in April because they wanted to change the game
They just couldn’t do anything right when they had a publisher
imo if they want to trash multiplayer, they should have opted for 6 player coop
They de listed because they didn’t know if they were going shut down or not
According to this it was to make major changes
yeah people love matchmaking
Your not in the discord
Kind of a grey zone tbh, they promised one thing and then went in the complete opposite direction.
even if people have 3 friends, it doesn't mean those friends can buy every game or have the time to play etc.
But also sounds like they were so mismanaged that they backed themselves into a hole
if they shut down they might go out of business? maybe they are trying to salvage so they make some money to actually do what they want with future games
That what i see it as. It’s not for the players
When they changed it to pay to play as well
When it was susposed be F2P
one would hope
Like this seems like an easy case for refund. Not sure what the issue is on that. Why should they have to shut down because you didn't like the outcome?
They false advertisement. This isn’t just a combat rework . They literally made a mmorpg a single player game after taking money and cash shop cosmetics and other things u could buy in shop with battle pass
That’s real scummy
So go refund it
U think people aren’t trying
yeah explain all of this in the refund request, have you owned the game more than 14 days?
The game isn’t that big as hell divers to get steam’s attention
The game was below 50 players
if it's not as big as hell divers then tbh steam wouldn't even blink at any financial loss lol
would be peanuts for them to cover
So you tried to refund and got denied?
Well that’s in conconvurrent players
I think at least 30k people brought it
You can refund after 14 days depending on what happened
the whole 14 days policy exists because steam can't get back money that's already changed hands, unless it's within 14 days
But again. Steam denied your refund?
so if steam told you the money is not theirs anymore and it's less than 14 days, they lied
?????
Of a change
okay so you had game more than 14 days
How is it hard to refund?
they can still refund but it's different process after 14 days for steam
The money could be anywhere and we don’t know how long steam keeps your card on file for a refund
People got refunded with 200+ hours
Also DE left
Then refund it to steam wallet
And the studio is saying they have the money
I'm just actually curious if you really tried to refund or just complaining XD
yeah if you refund to steam wallet they are also more likely to provide refund
i think they tried
I can’t feel bad for the studio. They could never do anything right or on time. Delays after delays no new content for months. And the player base died out. Then DE terminated the agreement. So they have no money to keep the servers running .
It’s 100% there fault
Like we are just now getting a new character for a game that’s been out for 9 months!!!!
just get a refund lmao
(That person is "palworld on top", its a known troll so you wont get anywhere responding to mercys rants about errything..)
yeah
Why are u constantly harassing me
I don’t even know u
?
Anyone who enjoys raid mechanics in mmos should try out Rabbit and Steel. Having a blast playing it
4 player coop that is a combination of bullet hell and ff14 raid mechs and rogue like
That definitely sounds pretty interesting, I'm not sure about the art style though
Super cheap as well. Its like $10
Gonna be tough to tear me away from V Rising and Valheim for a little while
Def wishlist it for a later date if you like progging
Yeah. I can't wait to do my runs for both those games. I just recently reinstalled them for 1.0 and Ashlands
1.0 adds some excellent QOL. V Rising just does such a good job with their combat, the boss fights are so fun.
I'm trying to not blast ahead because on of my friends isn't able to play much with now, and it's difficult to wait.
Yeah! V Rising combat is probably my fav in terms of survival combat
You should do a solo or duo pvp run while you wait on your friend haha
The pvp in V Rising is the best part!
Yeah, we're running a PvP server, that's why I'm trying to not get too far ahead. It's been fun finding each other out in the world and dueling
Oh nice!!!
One of the biggest things I think V Rising does well is the progression. The way the bosses are set up, you always want to be pushing forward and fighting the next one. When you're thinking about something you want to do, the next boss tier tends to open up new things. It really pushes you to advance
Agreed

NAh I doubt they work for MS if MS knew of their public conduct they would be fired ages ago. They are a known troll and even harassed me in DMS showing me fake screenshots of their pay calling me poor lol
technically everyone here works for microsoft if you bought windows 😛
Yep one of millions of bug testers lol
i own 10 ferrari's irl, and i can code c++ and i am an uber driver + a lawyer, i also run a medical practice on the side.
100% this lol
My dad owns Microsoft!
The best part is the amount of money they showed me was lower than what PMs make at Microsoft let alone a Senior PM. It's wild they post a affiliation to a large company on a discord they use to call people names and troll on.
even if i did work for spacex or something to go around saying it on internet nobody would believe me, it's the internet
i'm only 80% sure toast is community manager for keen
he could just be some random guy who made it all up 😄 (just a joke)
Very true lol
Better yet why even tell people. I work for a company I bet 80% of people here know but there's no way I am letting people know that.
Pretty sure they don't even play the games they complain about. They used to have their steam account linked. They were spouting off how bad enshrouded is and when I screenshotted 0 hours played and the game wasn't owned they de linked their steam.
what a dork. total lame troll move.
i could say a lot about trolling, but i don't want people to think i'm a troll here lol
tempted though
Everyone trolls at some point. Just own up to it
i have!
sometimes its fun! but i dont really do it to be an ass. just some light teasing sometimes.
but basically the best trolls aren't anonymous online, don't alias, and don't private steam accounts etc. now some people might have good reasons to private account, but in terms of people with bad intentions then usually griefers do that, or cheaters...
guys you won't believe this but I actually work for a videogame studio
I just asked my dad who owns that studio and he says you are lying.
He said some homeless guy keeps trying to break in and won't stop ranting about Toast.
i don't link my accounts on my discord profile, but i also don't care if people know my steam 😛 https://steamcommunity.com/id/TMSuperman/
its trademarked 🤣
LOL yeah everyone laughs at that
back when i was 14 we used to trade mark our names and use special symbols like ® and §
i guess habit stayed with me
I just made my name reach the maximum character length to piss off console users when we cross play
§upe®man™
i reused my name from a rpg it never got used in.
but it sounds more like a username than an actual name anyway
yeah i have a lot of different aliases i use for rpgs too
Oh my name doesn't even fit in the steam profile lol
love the profile pic
Me too I am never changing it
did anyone else exploit this steam exploit to get dozens of steam levels for free
I thought they would have patched it out but they never did lol
is it still doable?
Nope just during that grand prix event
It had little in-game challenges that gave you extremely tiny amounts of steam points for doing
But unfortunately them one of them was in starbound, a game that's extremely easy to mod, so you could just mod the game to turn what would have been a marginally rewarding task into one that just showered you in points.
that's crazy
it would have put the copy of starbound i bought to use too
since i never played the game yet decided to buy it lol
I am also part of the problem because I'm pretty sure they never did in-game challenges after that event lol
i've periodically over the years put $5 in my steam wallet and just completed cards for games i own to raise steam level
completed badges i mean
like usually every christmas i put $5 toward that
I never messed with that. This is sadly my second steam account. Pretty sure my first one I setup as a kid was with a throw away email address lol
oh yeah i have this
but i didn't know of the exploit at the time
probably didn't even own starbound then
Yeah idk if most people did know about it or not, I just think it's funny that I'm level 92 without ever buying the trading card thingies
some people commented that steam corrected the levels of everyone who abused it cough
maybe the extreme abuse, like people who got 20k levels
Yeah never fixed mine lol, but I also got bored after a while so I only got to 92, I remember some people had like 200+
They probably just took everyone who got over X xp from the event and removed it because it was obviously impossible
Suuuuuuuuuure
😆
Its really hard to believe someone with a level 92 steam account
Anyone wanna explore Valheim Ashland's vanilla?
Sorry I prefer chocolate.
Then go eat chocolate, why comment?
You said vanilla valheim. I like chocolate valheim
new icecream flavor just dropped
Chocolate Valheim BIS
Seems the devs keep pushing towards teamwork in newer biomes so I thought it might be nice to sail with someone
I'm nearing 100 in most skills but will probably use my secondary until the threats are known

@silk pumice . Hi C. Why did you leave the vigor group? Guess i was right again
Hi C4S. We don't know what you are talking about. Guess I don't know who is right again.
Kingdom Two Crowns is a side-scrolling micro strategy game with a minimalist feel wrapped in a beautiful, modern pixel art aesthetic. Play the role of a monarch atop their steed and recruit loyal subjects, build your kingdom and protect it from the greedy creatures looking to steal your coins and crown. In the brand-new campaign mode, monarchs m...

it's definitely not 710$
lol weird
i played it, it's a beautiful looking game
sort of tower defense, build your kingdom as a side scroller, and find sites to build specific things too
i vaguely remember when you win one world you move to the next
Tbh.
If possible I'd love to play some games of my past. Like...
Secret of Evermoore / Mana, Terranigma, Soul Blazer, et cetera. All big quality games from my past... And I couldn't play them for awhile, because their format isn't supported anymore...
and it might have some secrets
And how did I get there?
Because the art style reminds me of games of old.
what are they originally released on?
SNES
dosbox is how you play old games, or an snes emulator
ZSNES i think is the emulator
I have the consoles, but no clue if the internal RAM of these games does existany longer (they seem to wear off with time), neither do I possess the ability or knowledge to get the data from it. Hence, I cannot even plug that at my TV anymore.
that's cool, i think the games would still work, if you can get the console to work with a tv lol
people probably buy used games online still
I have a full box with my precious treasures, where I stored them for at least 20 years now.
Just get an actual crown for that much
the game records itself
I was told Diablo update makes the game suck significantly less
Its starting to take steps into the right direction now yeah.
Might check it out this weekend then. I saved my pass thingy
Nice! I'm currently doing a Valheim run for Ashlands update but will probably grind out a season or two after season six.
Give them a bit more time and drop a proper season since this is just an update.
Ghost of Tsushima dropped for PC so that will probably be my next game!
I heard it's not stable 😦
Only real issues I saw were people using the latest gpu drivers and frame generation. I'm gonna give a try since I loved playing it on my PS5 after this Valheim run so hoping these issues are resolved by then
Runs fine for me (i5 11400f, 16 gb, rtx 4060 ti) at 1440p with things on high, dlss3 quality and framegen, about 90fps. Its lighter on the grfx then forbidden west was and it also ran alright (are on latest drivers).
Some people with something odd going on in their systems seems to have issues in both games with both worse and better hardware for some reason
@turbid trench I loved playing Enshrouded so much, amazing game! 🤩
I don't think enshrouded is a "other game" lol
@candid quiver @timber prism ty I'll give it a try tonight then! Probably just the vocal minority complaining lol
Lmao I was cooked, thought we were deadass in Helldivers 2 discord
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZ-dkZsbWW4 Nightingale is going to have Offline Mode now.
Realmwalkers, Update 0.3 introduces Offline Mode! Find out all the details in the latest Developer Update, as well as other incoming features like build from storage, new quests, our first community event and more...
Nightingale is available in Early Access on
Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/19...
Epic Games Store: https://store....
The future, where we can get actual offline tacked on to games later on if we are lucky ^^
Id try it again with offline, when it also has some more life to its rng biomes and isnt too samey like starfield planets atm.
The video mentions tougher monster variants, like Apex creatures. I guess you can think of it like Valheim's 1 star or 2 star mobs. I never touched Nightingale, but I have been keeping an eye on it for a while.
Lemme know how it goes!!!
I tried it at launch, didnt work well as a singleplayer and server issues.
But also, world felt a bit empty a bit
Stronger monsters doesnt add to much variety, need pois, things to find and explore. More of those things i feel a bit.
I kinda need more in game worlds then stronger and stronger monsters, variety and exploration otherwise its just killing a group and then another and then another
Yeah, they have the common proc-gen problem where the library of POIs is small enough that after ~10 hours of playtime you'll probably start to see repeats. And that really takes you out of the game. It makes exploration feel way less engaging.
It was okay nothing special
Games needs minecraft amounts of procgen,
But... theyve had forever to expand on it so a bit unfair ^^
Those that chooses procgen that is, bespoke handcrafted worlds are awesome
procgen?
wait. nevermind.
i never found minecraft very rewarding to explore
mostly just build.
but my imaginatiom was lacking.
Anyone wanna play Valheim?
please stop DM'ing me. I dont know you and I dont want to play Valheim with you.
@timber prism Saying that publicly instead of just responding makes you a jerk
I hit you up twice because you play and responded once in chat before that you do if I recall.
I think about this a lot, I think the best way to do it is to have multiple 'layers' of procgen. So like the overworld is generated, but then POIs are also generated. That way if you're encountering a village, it's layout is generated but also the houses themselves are generated. That way even if they're similar and make sense, they'll still all be a little unique.
Too many games just have the world be generated, and then the POIs are just plopped in there. coughstarfieldcough
Lab1 or lab2 "alright team weve enough locations for 1001 planets rng" ^^
Do you want to play chocolate valheim? 😂
haha
Anyone interested in playing Valheim?
You might want to try asking in the Valheim discord, they have a LFG channel there that will likely be more active in that regard.
I know you're trying to be helpful. It's ok.
do you want to play the worlds smallest violin with me?
if i was evil i'd design 20,000 discord bots to dm the valheim PR guy once a day and ask him if he wants to play valheim
i'd actually be horrible if i was evil, lucky i am good
Weird flex but okay
that would mean he gets a dm once a day for 20,000 days
wow that means for 60 years

what is it actually 2.99?
that's a steal
game is at least worth 20$
oh yeah it's 80% off
good on me to accidently find the most epic deal
even their regular price of 16.99$ seems under priced to me, because it's a really fun game, at least for me it was
2 is also 65% off

NO SHIT
of course epic got an esrly exclusive. -.-
im tempted. i always thought it was a neat series but they whimped out on the ending i think?
anyway im tempted to give the first game a try.
does this game have a comprehensible story?
😂🤣
If it has kingdom hearts in the title you can just assume no
Here is a quick recap to prepare you for Kingdom Hearts 3.
dunk store https://dunkeyscastle.com/
Sorry. You will need to buy the additional Kingdom Hearts Ultimania to figure it all out XD
why. we can already play it on pc thorugh epic? i'm happy but what will this change
There is a demographic of people who refuse to use EGS for various reasons
Ah
EGS offer better service than steam
you get a bunch of free games every year, some of which are good, steam doesn't offer this.
aka epic games is technically a better service
Some people like to have their whole game library in one place
No one said it is, but that's why people might not want to use EGS
one could only use epic games and boycott steam
for the same reasons they are boycotting epic and using steam
it's just they have brand loyalty or something and nothing else
There is no way lmao
"There is a demographic of people who refuse to use EGS for various reasons"
yeah it's just various reasons + refusing to use it for that reason is hypocritical really. one can use epic and refuse to use steam imo.
Steam has a much better storefront, profiles, chat features, community mods
epic has some minor flaws that don't matter on a modern PC with a 16 core processor. but also the reason they are behind on some stuff is because steam dominated the market.
meh, sounds like petty things that ultimately don't matter, i could use a program that was just pixel text, as long as i have a library and can click to play a game.
in fact some people do this ^
they use universal third party programs
to consolidate their libraries from different services in 1 place
Honestly epic works fine for what 99% of people want it for, a place to buy, update, and play your games.
But yeah, most people really hate having multiple launchers, and steam was first. So any new launcher is met with significant hostility. Tale as old as... Launchers
once i click play on a game, all those steam features might as well be garbage, i am in a game now.
and i've never used steam to find games i want to play
The classic "doesn't matter" its the same reason why people use Spotify. People care about social stuff.
Yes. You.
i use youtube on a guest account
so i don't even save any preferences
i type to look up songs still
i have 3 seconds
yeah
I mean spotify is frankly a very similar story, it was the first to really nail the formula, and now why would people want to switch or split themselves among more than one platform
youtube music and apple music are both also fine from what I know, but why would anybody switch
it makes it better than steam, regardless if steam has a fancy store front or anything else
i am getting 70$ of value sometimes from epic
steam is giving me pixels.
you take your pixels, i'll take the money
I don't particularly like any of them, but it's certainly nice that EGS takes almost like, 1/3 as much money from devs as steam does. 30% cut is pretty wild, even if it's "industry standard"
whats hilarious is that steam is rich
and they cant compete with epics free stuff
they could, they are just greedy imo
Lmao
if steam makes it so i can gift used games to friends and get rid of them off my library
i will appreciate steam more
until then i don't really value them over epic games
its the same deal, and i get free games from epic
You can literally family share on steam
i don't want the game, will never play it
does family share remove it from my library?
And anyone can play your game without you losing it
i also don't have family that play games on steam
yeah but its friends plural
my 1 or 2 friends will not want all of the games i don't want to play
this narrows down from giving away 10 games, to 200 people
to 10 games to 1 person i actually trust
since the 200 people on my steam might steal my account for all i know
?
"You can't play the same game as someone else is playing."
plus if i give access to my library to someone they will play games i want to play
unless you can family share just 1 game
??? How is that any different you selling your game?
You already said you didn't want to play it
I'm pretty sure you can choose which games you share via the family plan
i have like 10 games i'd rather delete but i'd lose the money, so i want to give them away instead, but i can't. if i family share i can't family share to even 1 of 200 people on my friend list because i don't know them that well to trust them that closely. this narrows the list of who i can family share with... but also i'd be sharing all 300 games in my library, when i just want the person to play those 10 games i dislike. if they decide not to listen to me i'll not be able to play a game they are playing that i wanted to play... but even if they respected i only want them to play those 10 games, the games are still in my library... and they might not want to play all 10 games, maybe they are just interested in 1 or 2. which means i need to family share again, and again, and again, until i share these 10 games with someone... to just share the game? not actually give it away.
i want to give these trash games i will never play but someone else will treasure, away!
i don't want to sell them
i don't want my money back
but i don't want to delete them off my library forever (which is the only option steam allows).
you can already buy a game and gift it
i have games in my library with zero hours, or 2 hours, but i had them for 2 years so i can't refund
and im not interested in them
like 10 hours in orcs must die 2, i'd give that away.
66 hours in new world, but i'd give it away
killing floor 2.9 hours
divinity original sin, and dont starve (161 minutes between the 2 editions), and ever space (32 minutes), dont want these either
hitman series (no hours), i don't even think i bought some of these
deus ex (no hours), and darksiders 2 (40 minutes)
and dark souls prepare to die edition (78 minutes)
these times in the games, don't even justify they are my copies, i should be allowed to turn them into gifts imo
some of these games take 100+ hours to complete or experience
nobody can be like oh you experienced the game and got your moneys worth lol
It used to literally use 80% of my CPU while just running in the background. I wasn't the only one. Many people thought it was mining Bitcoin it was so bad. There were other issues I had with it over time that made me only use it to claim the free games and then never touch it again.
yeah it's a bit slow even now, but i think its more on my internet connection than anything else
steam loads faster despite by bad internet
16 core processor doesn't even take a dent from enshrouded
I also don't want to support Epic lol
in fact my 16 core processor didn't even take a dent from the processor test program
which could only bring my processor to 80% usage
and 70 degree max temp after 2 hours
lol
Gaming doesn't need 16 cores though
And how many of the 16 are p cores ?
7800x3d only had 8 cores and is pretty much top gaming cpu
Oh you have a rendering cpu
oh its prime95
yeah my processor didn't go above 60c
i think epic is slow, but i dont notice it as much, and i notice internet being slow on it more
like loading images etc
I prefer the x3d variants as they have better gaming perf and cost less typically
Yeah epic is definitely more of a resource hog.
Does EGS allow you to give away games you played to others?
Epic is worth like 4x what steam is though
Fork knife prints money lol
Guys I have a much more important topic of discussion

Other music platforms are starting to adopt similar features now due to popularity
I use youtube music just because of legacy effects. Had my library on google music and it got converted into youtube music 🤷♀️ Spotify seems better, but I'm too lazy to rebuild my playlists from scratch
oh whow that trailer dropped 2 hours ago?
yep
I use Spotify for social stuff and new release Friday Playlist. I use Amazon for daily listening and Tidal for critical listening.
Sounds like a lot of upkeep effort
I have no idea what the DLC actually is but the aesthetic is cool lol
If it's like other fromsoft DLCs, it'll be like half a game in size 🤷♀️
I'm not complaining, Elden Ring was excellent, another playthrough will be awesome
Yeah nothing wrong with more Elden ring. Its a pretty good game

are they really worth more? i didn't know that, steam charges more and has more customers thought they'd be the richer one.
Hard to say what the actual platform is worth, as a company epic does a loooooooot of stuff
Valve is mostly just steam, with a couple games
nobody does, if epic did that they'd seal the deal over steam basically. i'm just saying what steam should do if they want to erase epic entirely in features.
like if steam did this, i'd consider steam the best
even over free games on epic
Also remember that Epic owns the Unreal Engine, which is used in a lot of modern games.
yeah which means epic is a real competitor, they have the money to be part of a duopoly for a long time
for all we know in 50 years steam wont even exist lol
and it's just epic
reminds me of demolition man, where taco bell took over as the franchise in california
UE alone probably makes crazy money tbh, they take a relatively small cut, but on any project over 1m in gross revenue they take 5% of all profits
Given just how many use the engine, that adds up reaaaaal fast
Yeah definitely. Between that and fortnite? They're making the big bucks for sure.
though honestly fortnite probably completely dwarfs whatever they make from UE, it's just so big
Battlenet, technically
I think EA shut theirs down? Maybe it's still working for some things
oh blizzard, yeah i barely use that or have any games by them
oh explains a lot, it's all the trash games 😄
Technically Riot's launcher is also a multi-game launcher now too
all the competitive shooters and wow
Also gamepass/microsoft store probably fits the bill too
So there's a fair variety of them currently
Steam, EGS and MGS are probably the big ones though, because they're more than "Look at all the games we made" launchers.
they all need to get together to design an app that houses them all with 1 UI
whats MGS
microsoft games?
Microsoft Game Store
I mean... Steam does that. You can add non-steam games to your steam library
oh, yeah but they are only around because of windows
I dunno, xbox is still decently sized
In terms of ones that launch all kinds of games, and not just the ones made by the respective company, GOG and Itch are probably the other two main ones that like, actually serve a purpose
There's also the windows store but it just sucks lol
but itch is awesome for indie/solo devs, and GOG is great for people who really hate DRM
We don't talk about that
I only found out about itch due to degen reasons lol
Itch is really nice for solo devs who don't want to deal with the fees/authentication of steam, or who want to do a very early release of their project without worrying about their steam reviews tanking from an early build
A lot of solo/indie devs tend to release on itch first to get feedback and test the waters before committing to a steam launch
Makes sense really. You only get one chance at a mainstream launch
Yep. It's also good for people who just want to release something and don't expect/care to make any money
A lot of free games or really tiny passion projects are on itch, because dealing with the 100 dollar steam license and stuff isn't worth it if you just threw a little game together for fun or whatever
Buckshot Roulette was a fairly recent and successful example of a hastily thrown together game that was initially released on itch, but after getting a fair bit of attention on there the creator put more work into it and had a steam release, and it is now a fairly famous little indie game https://store.steampowered.com/app/2835570/Buckshot_Roulette/

its just silly
that i can buy a game for myself
or i can buy a game to gift it
but that i can't turn the game i bought for myself into a gift
lol
under 2 hour play time for sure should allow us to convert to gift
steam gave us nsfw games before this, i don't want NSFW games, i want better gifting options
The thing is you don't own the game, you own the rights to play the game while they allow you.
This is why physical media has always been superior
gifting is already a thing, you're allowed to buy the rights for someone else
click a button, convert it to gift, rights are removed from my library, it's not hard.
That's completely different. When you buy a digital copy of a game you are buying the rights for YOU only, non transferrable.
Why would they let you do that when they could get someone else to buy it too?
weirdly too
Or make you buy it a second time to gift it.
There would be loopholes and logistics pain to solve to gift already bought games
that's what i mean they are greedy
Its not that easy either
not really
