Honestly if you just learned a lot of the core rules I think you would pick it up very quickly, you have a very good eye for framing already.

There's a few rules of photography but most of it is intuition and creativity.

Yeah so much of it gets lost just being in the distance. Plus it's a huge structure. To see it all one will need to move. It's a tricky building to decorate i suppose. I'm sure it'll work out somehow.

I was trying to make one but from the front end of the temple complex the tower was losing all the details that I lost interest and gave up.

It might have worked if my PC wasn't a toaster and I didn't lower the graphics settings but it is what it is.

I would recommend to throw more colors and different shades. So even though the actual details are lacking it can somehow make it up for it..

Nah I washed my hands from it and decided to small compact houses for now. Maybe one day I'll get back to it but for now I'm having super fun building small houses and adding interior designs to it.

It's all good, as long as you're having fun. The mega structure would look quite beautiful once done.

yeah i haven't worked out all the nuances of it yet, but i know for sure you have to wait for the plants to grow to maturity before you drop in the flower soil, and it seems to help if the plants are snapped to the center of a voxel with appropriate soil

OK there was one of those pink birds just banging into my ear canals while I am looking for something. I got determined to find it and kill it, just to shut it up. I followed my ears to where it was the loudest and NOTHING, ANYWHERE! So, I dug down and low and behold this thing was stuck underground and just squawking is rear end off. Why are these things so loud and how do they make this much noise underground?

For anyone looking to add a little detail to simple stairs (i'm sure this has probably been done a million times but just in case it helps anyone). Use a couple of refined stone blocks, place them a block apart to generate a split line, place a candle/light/lumi block etc under and enjoy a little bit of extra detail without blowing your face off. Photo example showing two identical stair cases, one with lights, one without. 🙂

It was slow going from the bottom, and then I figured out a way that worked for me to go from the top down, and it sped up a lot. Maybe 20 hours into it so far? I just now planted another flame altar up on top of the mountain so I can keep going up! (Shoutout here to the resource world, because I'm at least 35k blocks into this just from lining the sides of the cut.)

Split the mountain! Put a diagonal slice through the north Pillar of Creation. Everything above a set of stairs going up. Took more than 100k well blocks to line the walls. (Thank you Resource World v3!). Since the slice is north/south, once a day the sun shines straight in and the North Star is perfectly framed in the gap at night. Took two fully expanded altars to get enough range. (And my build area goes inside the volcano, so at some point, I'll need to build a balcony.)

Idk if this was answered. But I think it’s suppose to be like realism.
When you step outside of any building when the sun is above, your eyes need time to adjust. The same goes for walking into a building, sometimes your eyes need to adjust to the dark as well.
As for a setting to turn that off, I haven’t found one so I work with it like I would irl.

I've noticed the health is a big guessing game right meow. I fought the pike daddy and he only had about ~10% health. Most times the health bar shows 25% health. Not sure why..

I also see purple cubes sometimes. They're translucent cubes the size of your character.

This has happened to me before. If an enemy hasn't moved, as in they're stuck (like in this case), the game presumes they've lost agro, and that they need to resume their normal patrol pattern. When bosses do this, they reset. The game sees it equivalent to running away, or hiding.

That's my assumption anyway, based on observing it the 4 or 5 times it's happened to me.

Flower soil, dirt, fertilized soil etc if you put single blocks on some building materials (like half timbered) will spawn ivy randomly. Not just by the ground. You have to just keep trying different placements until it pops up. Wish we had better control over it as intentional placement and on all building materials though!

yeah, you can hack something together to make it slightly less busted, but mostly using bronze blocks because they stay inside their voxel boundary so much better than other blocks. with bulkier blocks that strategy starts clipping into the door itself

I’ve seen voxel liquids in another game, they’d flow out from where you placed them if they could, stacks of them would get a flowing look to them, and you’d automatically get corner shapes for waterfalls and stuff, but they were kind of gnarly to build with. Lots of single block messing around to get it right.

Farm soil underneath floor. Build your structure over the farm soil. Remove that same structure, plant your plant and then undo in building tool. Puts blocks back in place and your plants are still there.

I do this technique to place large fires in chimneys or rooftops to show fire billowing out of the chimney.

The undo just places your flooring or block back. Doing it this way the game ignores collision.

the soil needs to be 2 blocks deep vertically or the plants wont stay, and some plants have a requirement for horizontal space for them to stay, but i think if it plants it should stay as long as the soil is deep enough.

If you’re talking about the matron she’s at the top of the prison building, there are stairs out side it’s entrance that take you right to her level. Alternatively grandes can open. Wholes in the floor that you can fight her through or get her to drop on your level

we've planted pretty much every plant in the game on a single 1x1 soil block, it's the whole basis behind faking potted plants

the rule, as best as i can tell, is that plants need to be surrounded by a half a voxel of eligible soil on all sides, so if you place the plant with snapping it'll be fine because it's got exactly half a voxel on each side, but if you try to freehand it it will almost always poof.

thank you. its not that color anymore. its since washed out. sometimes I shower a few times less just to keep the color in longer. but.. my hair had to be bleached so it was so dry. I let it go back to its normal color and very slowly trimmed my tips so it would go back to my natural soft color.

They were already there, i was just doing some patching and remodeling. So I didn't initially place either of them. I've noticed this in a few areas of building though, one side with edges and one side is 'seamless'

The collection of longbows has been completed

In terms of damage, wolfsnarls 5 perk advantage still out damages any long bow. 2nd place goes to traitors bow for solid overworld dps and some nice utility, 3rd place spiked bow.

Note that all longbows are easily usable with the right perks.

Top 5:

1. Wolf snarl clear winner on dps, due to 5 perk advantage (also against overworld despite the fire dmg)
2. Traitor's Bow, solid option with utility and 2nd highest on DPS against overworld, faster arrowspeed than wolf snarl 33% shoots straight
3. Spiked bow, like traitors shoots 33% arrow speed, fire option, good against shroud mobs, cool looking absolutely 0 stam drain.
4. Tarred bow, the allrounder vs shroud / overworld, hits nicely aint far behind above in terms of damage, no stam drain and nice perks
5. Nightwind bow a decent longbow also with shroud damage

because the auto formatting of the voxels is so finnicky, probably the best way to get that corner is to make the walls one block thicker so its ACTUALLY a corner and not just the intersection between two materials. Thats all i can think of im afraid.

So what you wanna do is take the red roof block and place it as a vertical beam, horizontal beams you can do with fancy stone or refined wood, depending on taste of colour. Refined wood matches better with roof tile beams however.

I think Im missing whats going on here.. I cant see the block problem.
but I will say that when putting up my roof, I could NOT get the roof to line up. it was ALWAYs one block off even when it was put together in the same line up. I couldnt take away a block line in order to just level it myself because than it was less than. so I think its suppose to NOT line up. which drove me insane! lol

I believe that mountain has another unoperable building on top. I climbed it three times for various reasons and then eventually place an altar on one of the free standing platforms up there.

I ended up with an altar on top of one of the Pillars and near the top of the other. Great gliding spots!

From the south Pillar, with the best glider, I can make it all the way to the coast.

Thats great! I ended up there out of desperation. I was just trying to find a spot to place the altar and had sweaty palms that I might fall again and have to pick axe hop scotch my way back up.

I've never understood why Developers of Base builder games have all these amazing 3D Assets populating the world but don't give Players the ability to procure/craft them to place around our Bases.
