Quick question, because i can't find a answer to this on the web.
I want to start this game with my wife, when update 7 goes live.

If i rent a server, will time go by, even if we are logged of, or is the server on hold? If yes, is there a setting to either pause/unpause the server with zero players?

As someone thats done it both ways, having a server up is by far the better route to go if you have another person thats going to be playing any amount of time without you. Time passing is only a good thing for you as you get crop growth and crafting timers done passively while you're away. There are no negatives and you won't miss anything (unless you just really really like watching timers on crafting benches count down).

I mean there are some quest rewards as you go - but not really? It is getting reworked with the update a bit though. You also wont be able to farm chests like that anymore.

Exploring is more than just finding cool weapons though. There are all the POIs to see, lore to read.

Valleys to delve and mountains to climb.

Shroud lairs and shroud roots to clear.

tl;dr: the connector (the 12pin one) is faulty BY DESIGN and no one wants to own up to that. theres plenty of videos and articles on it. One of the key problems is that by spec the power and ground and all joined at the connector. that makes it impossible for a card to detect if one or more pins are overloaded

Also being that so much is changing, there is always a chance that an update may break old saves, so we recommend backing up saves regularly that you care about. As this would be something that could be the end of the world for players.

We will do our best to avoid this, and it's not something we're planning intentionally we cannot guarantee this will "never happen" either since there are a lot of unknown variables in the future.
