I used this service called EmuBands to publish a bunch of productivity "music" tracks to the major stores – it was pretty easy

But definitely use a service for that; doing this the "normal" way is ridiculous

(haven't done it in forever but my last go took like 30 minutes to publish)

Problem with players having so much creative freedom is that with sheer force of will they can do things that we couldn't possibly test for, no matter how many limits we put in place to try to prevent them lol. Like the insane build that led to the patch notes of hotfix #28

Eh it's an understandable frustration, even if October isn't technically done yet. We made the ambitious decision to say "coming in October" months ago, people waited until October, and now we've been relatively silent. Obviously having every single user ask about it all day gets... old, for the regulars lol, but it's also understandable.

The best explanation I can give is that this is our most ambitious update yet, and frankly committing to the October window so early put quite a lot of pressure on us. We only want to release the update when we feel it's ready, and we also don't want to make any more promises until we feel certain than we can keep them, so that's why we've been kind of silent this month. We've been waiting to give a date until we feel absolutely confident that it's a date we can hit.

Yeah even when self-published game dev is always a careful balancing act between update pacing and not rushing deadlines too much. Some of our early updates were definitely a bit more on the rushed side haha.

If you're too obsessed with getting an update "perfect" then it will literally never release (and you'll also never make any money), but you also don't want to be in a situation where your updates are so rushed that they are broken.

Thankfully being self-published we have a lot of freedom when it comes to that, but we still need some amount of pacing and structure to make sure the game stays relevant and that we don't completely mess up all our marketing windows and stuff. It's a careful balance to strike, but the longer the game is out the more we're finding our groove.

Let's just say that, Enshrouded being our first self-published game has been a very welcome change of pace 😅

The problem is never really the "devs" in my experience, the people on the ground level that are making the games. Bad releases usually comes from poor direction, bad management, rushed deadlines, too much publisher pressure, stuff like that.

People don't really work in this industry if they're not incredibly passionate about what they do. It's one of the most stressful industries you could work in, and most people here are extremely talented. They'd probably just go somewhere else if they didn't love games.

Main reason I don't tend to blame the individual devs is because, like, that's still kind of a management issue lol. If devs are bad, they can always be fired, and there's an endless supply of people looking for work to re-hire from. If their marketing had been honest from the start, the game honestly probably would have barely sold anything and fallen into obscurity.

Being completely honest I felt like Enshrouded's release was overshadowed by Palworld I think by one or two days. And for me I don't generally look for upcoming games and I was so wonderfully surprised when I picked up Enshrouded at release. Honestly I couldn't believe it. I have 20k hours in a specific dinosaur survival game and it's funny because it's still plagued with issues. And comes from a studio that has made a ton of money. However I can install Enshrouded and play. I have never had an issue with the game. The other game is so frustrating with the issues and bugs that have plagued it for 8+ years.

I had recently found a baby mouse in an old lawn mower that we bought. It was abandoned in a nest under the hood of the engine. Immediately got some syringes, nips, kitten milk and nursed it. Its eyes hadn’t even opened. We had that baby for like 6 months. So so adorable
