There are some people who feel that 10 isn't enough, yeah. Though that limit is largely in place for technical reasons, not just to arbitrarily restrict players.

The initial thought in me says it has something to do with memory usage and possibly related to blocking out respawns of things.

It's more protecting users from themselves in a way, I guess. You can already really start to break the game and cause performance issues with the current 10 altar limit if you really push it.

Simply placing altars down doesn't automatically break things, but it makes any changes to those areas of the world permanent, and if you start changing significant amounts of the world performance can start to tank and things can start to break.

So, we aren't dead set on leaving that limit like that forever. We've already found ways to optimize what players can build, and the limits of what you can build now are already quite a bit higher than they were at launch. If we make significant improvements in the future, I wouldn't be surprised if the altar limit changed with it.

That's what i was waiting for 😄 Down in troubleshooting we have seen some that have used unofficial means to get more than 10 altars and it has caused various issues in their worlds.

But for example our most recent hotfix had this line in it
Fixed an issue that could lead to an unloadable world when there were too many objects (we’re talking thousands, not hundreds!) placed in the player base. We changed the logic of how the objects are loaded, which should prevent games from being unloadable in the future.

And the users that helped us discover this bug were well within the current flame altar limit. Their world save became completely unusable until we implemented this fix

I think it just becomes a lot less certain they can guarantee it'll work 'properly' for the majority above that amount.

I was hoping to add a feature to my app to export an altar build area to be able to import it to another save or some such. But I think I've hit my limit of being able to decipher the blob formats without some real nitty gritty reverse engineering of the game code. Which I don't have the patience for, nor the skill set. Let alone the ok to do so.

I think I know how I could try to fix my broken quest state in my world save. But it's sooooo tedious. To either brute force compare a knowledge blob from another save which has it completed and try to figure out which IDs are not in both. Then figure out which ones are related to the quest in question. Without just blanket adding all the delta IDs and just breaking it more.

The two systems I find most annoying right now is the timed crafting on the benches and the gem forge.

The timed crafting is reasonable when its always online but not for a game that I primarily offline for. Like why does it take 7 minutes to make a bundle of dried leather?

And gem forging is very specific and its kind of annoying that I now have to farm the very early levels to socket a gem when im in the savanna region

This is my seed bed setup. I mean, it's standard to survival games and certainly isn't anything new. You adjust your production for your needs. It's part of the gameplay

No, but the game that this game takes a lot of its mechanics from (Valhiem) doesn't make you wait production time unless its smelting even though it makes you get more stations for better gear.

You start at nothing, you build up to the point you can produce resources, then you build up that production. It's a core gameplay loop

It's supposed to be. That feeling of wasting time is supposed to inspire you to improve your production. Game development is based around creating friction points, and ways to relieve that friction. If you're feeling friction in a mechanic, you should be asking "does the game give me a way to not feel that friction?"

To build more stations you need more resources. I'm already out of room from stations not working fast enough, if I dont have resources for extra stations I must now go grind to make extra stations. Grinding extra stations means j need at least 10 each of 4 resources and depending on what kind of resources they are it becomes a fast travel farm adventure and it just feels like a car ride between job sites

That is what im getting at. This is the first survival game I've played that actively forces you to grind for a resource then makes you wait on said resource to produce thats not metal in a furnace

I mean, if you aren't playing the game to rush the endpoint, building up your base, your production, and your character are why you're playing the game. To improve and be in a better place than where you started. Resource stations don't require that many resources to call the grind oppressive and the end result is worth the time. So I guess, what are you spending your time in the game to do exactly? If it's that bad you can just cheat everything in with a resource server so it's not like you don't have alternatives

The main issue is just with the fact I don't enjoy that type of mechanic in a mostly offline game. Online servers it makes sense but since im mainly solo it makes no sense, especially when the only games other than enshrouded I know of actively use that feature are online only mmo games.

Is it a good idea to use some of the melee armor set while using daggers since daggers are technically melee?

My build idea is two pieces from the huntress (pants and boots) for stamina regen and the rest be from the blacksmith for melee damage since bow dmg gets majorly boosted by the skill trees

I use a mix of sets on my ranger, but use tank chest as it has more physical resistance more than any of the ranger chests. Otherwise the other pieces have now damage boosting effects, which are all leather armor.

Back on my mage, I used healer top on my staff build since healer chest piece boosted water aura massively. Just use whatever you feel like

The trick is really good acting. Tell the game in no uncertain terms that you don't want daggers. You want staffs. Tell the game you will salvage any daggers you come across. Sell it hard.

I can't really speak to the behavior from a year ago. But a current install of the dedicated server in the default configuration will put the saves in a folder savegame under the dedicated server path. The JSON config file specifies the path to use when the server starts up. So if your config file was modified to use a different folder they would be there. And if the config file was "reset" after you had previously changed the folder path, then it could be specifying the wrong location. There's a lot of variables in play here.

I would first start by locating the server config file and checking the date and time on it. Primarily to see if it may have been modified recently which might indicate it was replaced.

There's a program called Everything from voidtools https://www.voidtools.com/ which is useful for locating files that could quite litterally be anywhere on your pc. You could use it to search for the save file name 3ad85aea and that could tell you where they are. Provided it's still on the pc.

Just be aware it would also show you the saves from the client, not just server. Since they both use the same name for slot 1.

I have a question for anyone who knows the answer: in the 2025 roadmap they mention 'Base raid island' features would this be like other players can raid your base or that there would be world events where your base is raided by npc factions, probably who ever you piss off the most.

I personally hope for the second option because it makes sense your base would be attacked when your in a world controlled by the shroud basically and I don't think it would take kindly to you making a 'save haven' in its world.

As i say, i've seen 1 or 2 screenshots of the world being 'naked' but i couldn't tell you how they achieved it. There are no mods, only crude bruteforcing of numbers (Inhouse engine, no modding kit, no ones likely to put the effort in before a kit is available) You could look at NexusMods see if anything is on there, but it's all at your own risk of course ^^

Well, I guess I made a bad choice in building it close to the starting area, now my flame is lvl 8 (not sure if I can move it. I spent many hours building a big cave to store all the soulless annoying NPC) and don't want to start all over from scratch.

The flame strength (lvl 8) Is part of the world, you'll never lose it once you have it. The Altar size, which is max of 4, is the only thing you'll lose if you destroy an altar. There's no current way to move an entire Altar and what's in it and always remember, what you've built will only exist within the Altars build area (Everthing outside the flame altar resets every 30 minutes with no on in the area/upon a world reload.)

Mightve also just been a bug, i needed shroud cores for magic chests once so i spent a couple reboot cycles farming the big guy in the first elixer well and during one of the reboots a little square of weirdness appeared in the distance, as i moved the cursor to get a better look it expanded across the entire screen and it just made the visual fog disappear from right next to me all the way to the deadly shroud off into the distance

Are there any good games that aren't £40+ on the switch that are good? Xbox has some really horrible low quality games but it also has good games. Unrelated but does anybody have recommendations for a solid mouse and keyboard combination? Doesnt need to be anything fancy, I dont play games in a serious way, just anything solid and reliable, no RGB or any of that stuff needed (unless it doesnt burn my retinas lol)

I'm using "technet" mouse at the moment. again, cheap, and it's lasted a good amount of time.

Have a look at Logitech wireless stuff. The lower end goes pretty cheap and they're generally quality

If you don't need wireless you can get some cheap mechanical and "mechanical lite" keyboards but performance might be iffy. I've gotten some cheaper wireless/wired keyboards in the past that have strange quirks, like not registering keypresses or registering multiple keypresses on a single press

Though, just going to throw this out there, your KB and mouse are a big part of how you 'experience' your PC. Unless you need just a quick replacement it's worth saving up and getting quality

Always boggles me that people will pay hundreds (if not over 1k) on a shiny new GPU, then turn around and spend a total of $45 on their KB and mouse when they really do make a difference

A quality mechanical KB (or high tier membrane if you're into that) and a good multi button mouse are highly worth it. I've had my Logitech G604 for like 6 years now, still solid and can't imagine going to anything else xD

Might seem like a lot at first blush, especially if you're used to standard mice, but having the buttons on your thumb instead of reaching to your number keys is pretty clutch

If you look at the pic I posted above mine is 6 buttons instead of the full 9, but for MMOs especially I find myself missing those extra few buttons

The nice thing about that one is the button pad slides so you can adjust it to fit your thumb, most others don't have that and can result in having to bend your thumb at strange angles

(I'm also not a fan of the G4M3R RGB LITES but sadly the market is what it is for gaming accessories)

The buttons are effectively just programmable macro keys so you can have standard 1 - 0 right there, it's the same as pressing the number on your KB. Plus most have software for multiple presses, so you could set them all for CTRL+1-0

Or whatever you want really

So for example, set as the standard numbers, you could press CTRL on your keyboard + 1 on the mouse, and it's the same as pressing CTRL+1 on your KB normally, just without the hand stretch

Or set the buttons so they automatically do the CTRL+1 with a single button

Yeah like I say, once you get used to having them it's hard to go back, it's so much more convenient for pretty much all games

Even something like Enshrouded, being able to quickly swap weapons or chug a potion on your mouse while still keeping your left hand on WASD is kinda life changing xD

Most software also supports multiple profiles, so you can have a "standard game" layout and a MMO layout you can swap on the fly

So far none of the updates have required starting a new world. Some people are still on their launch day saves from a year and a half ago

Some people have chosen to. I myself started a new world when they released Albaneve, and having done it I wouldn't call it necessary unless you really want to see everything from the perspective of leveling through it

Easiest is grab the summon stick. Change the the box in question. And in the screen to set them is an option for distance. Then summon them at a center point where you want them to stand or sandbox around.

I'm really happy I did solo to go slow and discover things. Then multiplayer was a blast afterwards. Groups can be fun but only if you are in sync with pacing and how you all want to play.

Some people rush off and don't give others time to figure out mechanics and look around. So depends on your friends, I think 😄

Honestly the game doesn't need a lot of min/maxing or anything, my suggestion would be to go with what suits your playstyle and build out from there, the skill tree is pretty intuitive. The one recommendation I would make is early on drop 7 points on the first 4 nodes of the tank tree, regardless of how you build. It's 2 con and 2 armor nodes and it will drastically improve your survivability

Frankly the alchemist is early enough in the game that it's hardly worth mentioning. It starts slow but you find spells as loot in addition to crafting, and frankly having to select spells is no different than selecting your arrow type (I carry 5 arrow types on mine), and isn't that big a deal anyhow

Long and short is everything is viable, don't let online comments necessarily change your mind

Wizard is actually really good if you pump everything into battlemage trickster and wizard. You get a dodge that deals about 100 dmg per explosion if you dont get the fire damage buffs from the skill tree and armors

I'd low key love a summoning tree and summoning staff charges. Like you gotta kill certain fell creatures for their crafting parts to make summons that attack any nearby enemies. That would be goated

They're kinda sorta doing that with necromancy. Rather than fell creatures I think I'd be cool if you could unlock wildlife summons in each region somehow. Like in Springlands you'd get wolves, boars in Revelwood, those striped tigers in Nomad, etc

Maybe skill tree nodes to increase how many you can summon at once

And maybe the summons could attract aggro from enemies

Make it an alternative to necromancy

Or maybe instead of increasing the number, the skill nodes increase the HP and attack of the summon, so as opposed to necromancy where you're summoning hordes, instead you get an increasingly tankier summon

I just wish necromancy wasn't a skill that happens by chance when you kill enemies. Maybe they add a tome that you have equipped and killing X of each enemy gives you the spell to summon it

Has anyone ever bought a block of cheddar cheese and you open it and it just tasts bad? Just bought from the store, unopened, no mould etc. Then you open it and it's just bad? Or do cheddar cheese blocks just really vary that much?

Idk, all his business is fully formed at the start of the walk but he will push until water comes out, it's so odd... I can't imagine it would be that bad or worse. He gets all sorts, scraps of what I eat and generally, there's little variation in what comes out. I'm sure he'll be fine.

My cat loves cheese, but she is picky about it LOL She loves cheddar (good ones), does not like american cheese (good for her, it is wax as far as I'm concerned), and will steal your pizza from your mouth if she can get the mozzarella (and pepperoni).

So, the the highlight of my week (last week) happened at 9pm on Sunday. I love Pepsi Max, however everywhere sells it for £1.75 per 2L bottle at a minimum and a some even at £2 a bottle which is crazy. There's an off brand one which is very similar for £0.5. Anyway, I went into an ASDA (Walmart) petrol station store and they had Pepsi Max 2L for £0.98! That's literally cheaper than Costco. I haven't had Pepsi Max in some time. I got a little excited 🤣

Small amounts of cheese don't hurt any of them, but you shouldn't feed tons, too much salt and fat. If you're trying to fatten up an animal, the safest way is to do things like unflavored greek yogurt. It's very fattening but a good fat and it won't completely mess up their digestive track. You can mix in some natural peanut butter for extra protein and flavor too.

Yeah, I was looking at that, I think you suggested yogurts before. There's no healthy fats and everything has so much sugar too. Everything is just processed and it's hard to get away from it all. I'll probably just keep Alfred on the stuff he eats now. It works and as nice as it would be to fatten him a little, there's no health way to do that.

I did 12 miles with him the other day, he probably did 15 miles. I can't wonder why his is skinny.

I actually don't eat much candy unless I verify it's gluten free now. Too many things that shouldn't, have gluten in them. It's like a random filler they use for no reason. I can't even have Werther's originals. They're just hard butterscotch, why do they need gluten.
