My sister dealt with severe endometriosis most of her life (thankfully she found an expert that finally knew what they were doing and she's better now)

Something I've also learned both from her journey and many of my other female friends are that like, a LOT of women have period symptoms that are not healthy or normal, complications are extremely common. But the world/doctors just constantly gaslights them into thinking that crippling pain/nausea/whatever is a "normal period" and that they shouldn't seek treatment for it.

Part of that issue is people are so against openly speaking about it that how on earth are people supposed to know what is normal and what isn't? And doctors certainly aren't much help most of the time. I have a friend who also dealt with that and she had to travel multiple states over to find someone willing to do a hysterectomy on her because "what if she wants kids someday???" even though once they actually pulled it out it was very clear that was never an option due to how malformed it was which any doctor who'd actually bothered to look would have known.

The doctors were horrible to her, even just watching her deal with that I was so frustrated on her behalf. And that's a big part of the problem, a lot of those myths persist even into fields of medicine themselves, and it makes it really hard for women with problems to get seen or treated for them.

doctors in general are really bad about that, treating patients with an unreasonable amount of skepticism (as if people would just... pretend to be sick? for no reason?), but it's particularly bad for women's issues.

I took IT back in highschool at a college level and worked closely with medicine and those practices.

They learn very similarly, and the biggest thing to look for in a doctor, is not one that knows all issues, but one that knows how to diagnose and look into it.

A doctor won't know what you have, they don't know all diseases, but they can research, test, and look into it.

If a doctor immediately starts sending you to redundant tests or saying "I know better than you do"

They don't know better.

The only real advice I have for dealing with doctors is be very persistent about your issues. If you know something is wrong, make them look into it more than their basic intuition, and if they refuse to do that/believe you, find a new one.

It really shouldn't have to be that way, because obviously the power/experience dynamic makes a lot of people uncomfortable and not want to stick up for themselves. But actually convincing them to listen to you requires that you basically be a huge pain in their ass.

and yeah in my experience the best doctors will say "I don't know" a lot. The ones that are super confident are an immediate red flag to me. I've talked to doctors at mayo clinic, absolutely forefront of their field, who said "I don't know what's wrong with you, but this is what I think our best bet is", and then I'd go to some random doctor in texas and in my very first appointment he'd say he knew exactly what was wrong with me and how to "fix" it with 100% certainty. It's wild lol.

Dunning Kruger effect, I guess. But it's crazy to me that you could still have that after so much schooling.

Tbf too though, and keep this in mind. There are lots of possibilities, and a doctor might not jump to conclusions. If it's a new issue they might do basic tests and work their way down.

They shouldnt stop at just "it's just a migraine" or some shit if it's continued for months lol.

I do lot of different mayonnaise. Base is the same egg and oil but then you are able to add herbs, olive oil, balsamiques vinager, moustard, any kind of spice.

I still think the altar count should be a changeable setting in difficulty settings, so you can have "more altars" and it gives you a warning about potential performance impacts. Or you can do hard mode with 1 altar only ever.

There are also gameplay implications of number of altars. For example, if you drop an altar it can just act as a teleport point. If you are out of them, then it can create additional challenge because you can't just port back home and to wherever you were.
