EA just dropped and yeah… optimization is rough right now. But 500 separate “it’s awful” posts don’t really help anyone.

If we actually want the Half Sword devs to fix performance, we should give them structured info they can scan fast.

So let’s try and keep almost everything in ONE thread and use the same format.

RAM: ddr5-6000 64gb
resolution: 1440p (i get the same fps on 1080p)
graphics settings : all lowest, gruesome preset, dx12 (dx11 lowers fps significantly)
fps average : 120 to 180 depending on where i look, 150 in most common angles. certain times of day (seemingly sunset/sunrise) lower this to like 90 through 120 with an average of 105, or it's just that the game has some sort of performance leak and my second fight on this session is running worse because of it. if i use high graphics i get like 50 to 60 fps
stutters/freezes: have yet to get any in about an hour of playing
demo fps average : was around 90 ish on same res and high graphics
temps: up to 90 c for cpu, constant 76 c for cpu
notes: hair physics is kinda weird, and i am on linux (cachyos + hyprland are the only relevant things)

notes : fps is about 60 higher in cellar, and cpu is 10 degrees cooler

this is moreso a baseline since i am not having many performance issues however most people seem to have issues

FPS average: 140 in abyss 48fps in the forest 18fps in the slums 96 fps in the cellar don't know for the other maps can't check rn

Stutters/freezes: during the beggar tournament, on the slum map, generally when there's more enemies and more action

hope that the devs will fix it
edit : i don't play anymore with those settings it's impossible to play with them but i thought it would be better to have the specs at the best i usually play to point out the issue

takes up almost all memory, most close everything else to play at poor fps

Note: Any form of Decapacitation halves my FPS, When Vegetation appears my FPS dont go above 10, no matter how manny.

Stutters/freezes: yes but seemingly randomly, also some crashes happen sometimes it just happened after i downloaded the patch and got a kill

Notes: The slums of course but the forest map also has some trouble running, blood is really buggy but the devs already said they are working on it i hope

mostly on the slunm map when I look at far map not the main arena my fps dies if I keep looking at castle walls still around 20 fps

Im suggesting as a game dev too maybe there are too many meshe and models on the distance map and consider making them low poly models

On 1080p medium settings, without frame generation, I get between 60 and 110 FPS depending on the location, and with frame generation enabled, I get between 150 and 200 FPS.

Notes: I know my specs arent the best, and id expect it to be a little rough, but not this much since the demo usually run fine. Also cant use DX12, it always crashes after main screen.

Tests were running around the map, looking around etc. Killing and spilling blood will obviously lead to FPS drops.

FPS : from 15 to 45 depending on the area (the Slums is closer to 15 than 45)
Gore Preset at default.

DLSS does not improve the framerate at all, particularly in the Slums.
DirectX 12 has huge issues, with models and textures not displaying on screen (see screenshots) and even not being able to render a whole scene (black screen + error message about rendering thread timing out).
Apart from the huge optimization issues that everybody suffers from, I find it pretty embarassing to have to remap my controls everytime I launch the game.
I could not test with the forest map because my graphics card ran out of its poor 6GB of VRAM and crashed the game before I could think of it.

On the demo v0.5, when running Proton 9.0-4 with DX11 on medium settings at 1920x1080, I got between 15 FPS low with 5+1 Willies, and 60 FPS average with 1+1 Willies. When running GEProton 9-27 with DX12 (does not work with Proton 10.0-4/same visual bugs than in the EA), on medium settings at 1920x1080, I got max 30FPS with 1+1 Willies. The demo suffers most from CPU limitation, especially when there are many colliders near each other, whereas VRAM usage was moderate.

I am aware that Proton might not improve stability, but I could run the demo just fine with either DX11 and DX12 without any graphical issues (depending on the compatibility layer).

FPS average: 15-20 on most maps (demo: 50-60)

Stutters/freezes: obviously yes (altough i did have stutters before in demo but only in carnage, spoilance and buhurt)

Notes: seemingly the "low" graphics have been utterlly FUCKED, since they now act like the demo's medium or high graphics (as seen via shadows still showing), my pc supposedly claims it suports directx12. But when i run demo on dx12 it crashes and on early access it crashes after i click any of the play buttons on the menu

Note: Whenever I get in slums my PC starts slowly lagging until it's impossible to play, also whenever I turn blood on - I lag horribly. Haven't had these anywhere else but here.
