Performance from my point of view was not terrible, ok on most maps except for slums, the ui seemed buggy though, and also the physics and damage felt off… but otherwise the game feels like an early access game, or like a Bethesda game on launch day…

I personally prefer the UI in the demo
Also, separation between freeplay and gauntlet is much better in the demo

Freeplay is clearly an independent game mode with no connection to Gauntlet, so whoever enjoys gauntlet is free to play it, while everyone else has an option to freely experience all of the game's content

On the other hand, besides some default weapons, in freeplay i only get to use whatever i unlock in progression mode.

I think it's an awful design decision, locking full content behind the progression mode.
Assuming progression is perfect and everyone loves it, it's still awfully long to unlock all of the game's content.

I would like the freeplay system to build on top of the demo system, rather than redesign it.

Leave the option to just pick a class, get a random template of that class, press fight and play the game

Then on top of that add an option to pick your own character with your own preset of the equipment, choose which presets of enemies are going to spawn, choose the maps, game mode. But make it optional, in addtion to the simple click and play.

I personally like duel with longswords and no armor. In the demo it's clear how to do it: Gamble for longsword in commonner, then gamble for longsword opponent, then enjoy.
In EA either it's not as simple, or not as clearly explained.

I don't regret spending money on the game, but i like to think i paid most of it for the demo.

the hardest part of the game was the beginning, being a frail beggar.

the game then got easier as my willie exercised and grew stronger. weapons felt less wobbly. I was doing more damage, and taking less.

I think it's more of a bug perhaps. I picked up the quiver in the forest that some times will spawn in the smaller box next to the crossbow, when I finish the game and go to the tavern I lose the quiver

And you can't buy any bolts from the trader so...

Yes that happend as well after i restarted the game and got the quiver it worked. but i mean when i play the free mode instead of progression. i thought that it would mirror the amount of bolts i have in progression in the quiver but there are non in it

You can do that, but wrists are little weak to do it.

Tell me you know absolutely nothing about game development without telling me.

Level design is a completely separate part of game development, probably handled by a different person altogether than any coding, and regardless of if it is or not, tree placement can be handled all sorts of ways non of which take more than minutes to fill out an area unless it's somewhere like the forest map where each one is likely to have had a decent bit thought put into them, which might bump that up to 30 minutes max for placing all the ones in the play area.
