I've been using a custom weapon that uses a hafted grip, as the head. It doesn't cause the same kind of blunt damage as a pollaxe. It doesn't even remove flesh. It does however break necks, arms and legs quite easily.

This being said its possible each weapon type/material has its own blunt ratings, so im not sure its just the willies blunt damage reduction thats been altered.
