They released some stats about the playerbase a while ago, and it's actually pretty huge. It's more than profitable enough I think.

Singleplayer is great, but someone who would otherwise maybe get a little bored after a while wouldn't if they can mess around with their friends as well

I've tried it. It's also physics based as far as the interaction between the weapons, but the moves are done through more traditional animations rather than direct control. It does seem quite a bit more realistic to me. It also even has a HEMA mode

because of how most games work. online, each persons computer would render the physics in a very slight way. on BeamNG Drive, everyone sees crashes slightly differently. for games like that, to have everyone see the same thing would be incredibly CPU greedy and there's honestly no need for everyone to see the same thing. For a game like Halfsword, you NEED everyone to see the same thing or else someones sword will be in a different place than it is for them, causing problems.
