Fun fact: That's how you get arming wounds from using shields to block and them breaking or using your forearm to block in desperation. You have to put a LOT of force to cut through bone and most attacks you throw only have enough force behind them to bite into bone as opposed to cleaving through it because in a duel you want to use enough force to kill, but not use so much that you can't cancel your attack if you suddenly need to parry.
