if you don't have a warhammer or a knife to shove in the tiny eyeslot it's pretty much invincible

you ever see the youtube guys who do full armored sparring

There were more gaps beyond just the eyeslot, the full armored fights that dequitem on YouTube does often ends with stabs to the armpit, and stabs to the neck to finish people off.

The gaps you can see in halfsword I would assume are typically the same you'll see on even the most advanced and well made armor later on up until they started phasing it out entirely of course.

After that there were no gaps, they just didn't wear plate armor anymore.
