I'm getting better at beating him more consistently - here's the trick I'm using: first, briefly toggle yourself into slowmo and scan where the weapons are on the fielld - grab the closest thing you can between you and him, and toggle slowmo during his strikes to see where the angle is coming from, then gtfo the way. Swing for his arm if you can, to injure it.
