You could
Theoretically
There a lot of manuscripts
With soldiers with sallets and the visor up in combat
i agree
its a second layer
Likely with the intention for that kind of forehead protection
the humble thrust
No face protection helmets is old as dirt
yeah thats an instance where a visor would be good
yeag
tbh I go by the principle that professional soldiers from back then very much knew what they were doing, can't really stand redditors & discord mf that go "bruuuh obviosu flaw, just stab his face !! XD"
well
yea ik
It's the principal of "i would rather get cut in the face than getting my dome slashed through."
Moreso "I would rather be able to breathe, hear and see what the fuck is going on while still having protection on my head, and since most attacks are more succeptible from coming from above i'm willing to sacrifice not having a bevor or visor (/or having it up"
That too
Then this shouldn't be a shocking factor
Broken bones were also less of an issue than cuts and puncture wounds
well, "less of an issue"
let's say they prefered having a broken arm than having a cut wound on the arm
Some of the most oldest head protection was just to protect the back of your head and top of it
nah
That's why ye olde gambesons weren't really that much "anti shock" actually
I don't even think face protection on helmets was ever a popular thing till medieval europe did it
but protected fairly well against cuts
There a name for this but i can't remember it
padded?
Shock absorption
Expecting what they are using
shock proof?
no
Preparing soldiers with protection against more common weaponry
You're going to see more polearms and swords than you are going to see a bunch of blunt weapons
well uh preparing ?
whats broklahoma on about
There a name for it but yeah let's use that 💔
ion know
briefing ?
Wearing armor to protect against what is most common
ew
You're likely to die more from cuts and stabs
So armor evolved to protect against it
whats wrong with it
it's ugly
🥀
the lack of maille and the sleeves peaking out of the cuffs are strong signs that whatever this image is, a reenactor (and not a pvery good one) was used
or multiple instances of reenactorism anyway
whats this
image
I just realized there a coif
The funny part for me how expensive his armor looks, yet he can't afford mail seemingly lmfao
He blew his money on the plate 💔
yeah that's one of the reenactorism I mentioned
Hello Mull
why does he look like chuck Norris?
this feels like a knight errant draw over
good question
you can raise it and lower it
maybe its articulated
sliding rivet methinks
It's a bit better
Not a huge fan of the random gloves, is that just me?
dunno about the gloves but that kettle doesnt sit right with me
holy chopped
Eh, it's whatever to me
That's cool as hell
what book is this
It just feels random, why is this guy wearing half kit and just with random gloves on not even mail gloves or something
love this book
thank you
mail gloves ? with a crossbow ?
Yes with a crossbow
gauntlets with a crossbow too
feels clunky idk
you don't need incredible finesse to operate a crossbow
yes i can see the cranky thingymabob
You need to do a drawback with a weird stick i forgot what it's called
Cranequin
goat's foot
yes that
Thank you kevlar lol
forgot the spelling
i mean even before cranequins dudes had maille mittens and used crossbows

aaaaaa !!! he's gonna halberd my ass !!!!
id be happy as shit too if i had a volgue like that
Charles?
.....
hmm?
lol
hm?
🤣
hes baiting
dw its baitt
Why do i find this funny, tf is wrong with me
everything i say is either bait or not thought out at all
Seen him a few times, i adore this kit
Hoooooyyyyy mollyyyyy
Damn... when can i get this in half sword...
real
Steel skirts... is that what that is?
wait I think i know who made it
Because... i fucking love steel skirts..
is it done by art of steel?
oooggg....
Rondel my beloved

Modern militaries need to bring back rondels fr

Seeing willie in those bad boys 🔥
Firstly, I want to apologise for the half-asleep narration to this video. The truth is, I was actually half asleep. I started filming at 10 to 8 in the evening, and uploaded the video at about 10:30. It's hard to find time for this sort of thing when you have 2 small children.
Don't forget to leave your questions in the comments, ready for nex...
Reginald Cobham Ca.1446
the latest this kinda armour goes for is 1450.
So since we are getting the ability to add rondels to armor in half sword
I hope we can customize the rondel appearance
Yeah and this illustration is thought to be c1450-60

goes so hard
worlds smallest pollaxe
it looks promising but I haven't heard about it in a while
They had a big news drop earlier
Horses and jousting
<@&1080390104562016306> This is a scam...
So idk ping role is.allowed for this situation
Thanks whoever did that, reference channel loves u
I think they are giving out keys for it or smthing
Oh fr? I got lied to...
Wdym?
Someone said they were giving out steam keys
I doubt we'll say anything crazy soon
Late 2026 is like the most i'd expect
The game has been made since 2018 and they said its gonna release soon.
Its been worked on more than hs
The combat looked really wonky in the trailer
It's entirely physics based
Its basically like half sword
But the combat there is more
Physics
It says that but in the trailer it looked like they were performing fixed moves, and only the reactions were physics based
I think that's just how they were using the weapons
The person playing was clearly trying to use hema
Didnt look like it
Where do i see this?
No they have a relatively different combat system
Very hype, but why the fuck are all the sneak peaks posted in #general-catfish-🐱🐟
Even for HS
Like how am i supposed to find these cool things 😭
Its in dev updates in kinstrife discord
Anyway i went through the Kinstrife timeline. Seems to be aiming for a more in depth, smaller scale bannerlord experience, which is very cool. I'm excited now
Ty
Idk about bannerlord experience but something close to hs
But with campaigns and stuff
From building, traveling, dialouge, and even trading
Missions will be involved too
Bannerlord experience lol
I dont think we can compare to HS, because we have no idea what HS will be
I'm still unsure if the areas teased for Steam Next Fest are all part of one big map or are their own individual maps that we spawn and fight in like in the demo
I hope it's the former but am inclined to believe it's the latter
The devs said the game will be level based, which will be different from kinstrife, but it probably means the maps will be separate
Kinstrife will probably have one big map or two
I do know that the maps for kinstrife are gonna be bigger
Multiple gamemodes
We have a basic idea
Gauntlet is seemingly the main gamemode
Free play will remain
And other gamemodes are labeled brainrot
For the time being
Still tho.. it hasn't even released ea
This was in the stream iirc
Yeah this games gonna be sick
Yeah I have it downloaded
Oh i asked
Mcwonder a question
About like other factions
I asked if we could see Burgundy and Swiss Confederacy
He gave the most cryptic answer ever
Kinda but not really

But better than nothing
My theory is the gauntlet mode will take place under the inn
It makes sense, because it's definitely not legal to be killing people during tournaments
So it seems likely it will be an underground thing
There will probably be more than one area for tourneys
Maybe a non-lethal version that's more open to the public and like what we see in the banner art
Cryptic.
That sounds like a maybe imo
Sounds like a yes to me
Same
I feel like Burgundy, and Swiss Confederacy are def happening
But Savoy
Idk
I wonder what the factions will even matter to the game besides maybe people wearing their colours
Isn't it western european
I think the house of savoy was like
On the border of south and western europe
If burgundy and Swiss is added Savoy will be too.
I don't even know if burgundy or Swiss will even be added yet either
They said in the past a dlc might occur for it
Swiss kind of makes sense
And Burgundy is mentioned but that doesn't mean it's full proof
Horses DLC above all else 🙏
Ai willies wear the faction colors
And we can likely rep them later
And they'd have a bigger impact possibly too
In like certain future gamemodes
Tho, i wonder.
Will factions be limited? By region or nah?
Like we could possibly see Poland or Spain, smthing crazy like that
Poland is slavic. Not western European.
Would love to see Iberian armour in this game.
I am just asking if there will be limits on what part of Europe is a no and okay
The game strictly takes place in central europe. Specifically the Holy Roman Empire. Its been confirmed. As far as western European factions go? Im not too sure myself. But western European armor in general? Probably more than OK to do.
i thought the english faction was the franco-british union, i thought it was like a medieval world war
The thing that sucks about maps and geography, is that fuckers can't agree what the fuck is what
What?
what
I've seen some central europe maps completely remove Germany, and others have Germany
Too much effort to draw all of the HRE
probably
Why can't people pick 💀
i made a eu4 game where there was a world war between the franco british union (mod), the german empire, lithuania, and the ottomans
i dont even remember who won i still have the save file
... i am talking modern
The arms of england is a Gallo-british coat of arms that was also the armorial bearings of Richard I
Oh
أنا Oh
And the Franco-british union is 20th century ww2 proposal, which i don't think ever happened
The closes think you have is the Auld Alliance
Which wasn't even england
It was between france and scotland
There is also the Angevin empire
But that isn't 15th century
Mordschlag, this chat desires armor posting
Before the mods find out this is just gen with extra steps
Manuscript??
Wasn’t there a possibility of a royal union between England and France
Most my historical knowledge from anything between 1444-1600 is from EU4
sorry if it’s messed up

Def too early
Yeah I need to take my pills

I think i fixed the problem
I love the kettl st george has in this reliquary
just found out where this guy got his idea for his sallet
pauldrons too
The completion of work on Pauldrons of the Milanese armor of Sir Richard de Beauchamp, 13th Earl of Warwick, ca. 1450. By Steel Legacy
Erm.. doesn't fit the period 🤓
"its actually 1480...
"
im just gonna start posting 1480 stuff in the other channel because I forgot it changed

Like they'll consider stuff from 1440 and 1480?
Thought i saw that somewhere
r those sabatons for horse
no
Aren't they stirrup?
at kevlar
Horseshoes, bro...
i meant like horse stirrups....

Rothenburg ballock dagger repro North Italian, (Specifically Venetian) Ca.1450.
mirror polish or am i going crazy
Yes
ooh so thats the one that made it into the kitbashed german cavalry i commissioned that's awesome to know I had no idea what it was based on
https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/military/melee/bollock-dagger-model
because the museum its in says like jack all about it iirc (assuming its the same one - if not very similar)
Wait can you show the full thing ?
balls
ball dagger
m8 i love these illustrations but why some of those horses so low and fat
also can anyone read the French and explain why the guy in the last illustration is stabbing himself
Look at them go!- HRE soldiers, I assume?
From what I could understand, because I struggle reading gothic font but it look like the knight is reporting something to the king and commit suicide in front of him but I can't quite make out why or if it's even true, I think I can read Theseus, Roy de Thebes and Forfait
Ur
couldnt Forfait at a more dramatic time
I think the king is supposed to be Eteocles of Thebes
Fucked up story...
I like the king’s cuisses
Those fluting look nice
Gloriously fine set of armor
True
Pic reminded me of amongus
If ye give me these types of eyeslits sometimes it brings up amongus
C. 1477
It also says edipus (oedipus) and joquaste (Jocasta) in some of the other pages so yea
Coolest zombie
Not a zombie, he just so old due to waiting for half sword ea that his skin started to rot
I can’t read French—middle or otherwise—but since I know it’s talking about Tydeus and Eteocles, I think this is what is happening here. It’s from the story of Thebes (le Roman de Thebes), which is what this manuscript is based on (as well as other ancient stories up to Caesar).
Tydeus had betrayed the king Eteocles and killed a good number of his men (but was also gravely wounded), and he sends back a messenger to the king, which sets up these passages. In the end, the messenger, condemned to death, elects to kill himself instead.
That is a early rapier\side sword
The one he sent was confirmed by Sam
Oh wait you sent something
Oops
Oh wait nvm, I AM CONFUSED
thanks for breaking it down i couldnt find an explanation when i looked for the story lol
looks like sallet strap under the bevor. never appreciated this is it typical?
The original hits different
Well idk
I hope we get a little house or something lmao
Cathedrals ofc
Like were will the outhouse and the bird feeder? The forest? If so thats still pretty badass but a field would be sick with war tents n stuff
I think hs will focus more on tournaments though from what im told
Level based environments
The cart of horse shit will prob be in the streets map
War camp would be SICK
If there's like "outlaws" or "bandits" in the forest with tiny settlements... omg im gonna play thousands of hours on this game.
Since fire will be in the game we might see some camps
I dont wanna get my expectations too high
At the same time they have to have been cooking all this time
It's just hard to imagine the game as anything more than spawning in and killing guys in a ring lol
willie
Brigands in half sword is a good concept they will def add
It's confirmed already
Lessgooooooo
Check the Steam Next Fest sneak peaks in #announcements
It's the first one with the forest map
Ye I know
In the description it talks about bandits and their camps in the forest
Lots of cool lore and gameplay hints in the descriptions
the fine baron’s cabinet
I wonder if they wouldve painted these sometimes

1476 Giuliano e Benedetto Da Maiano - Lo Studiolo del Duca
High quality polished wooden armor
I think it's just a forest road
To depict the bandits were ambushing
But the military is stopping them
They confirmed something cool
There are bandits
I said bandits doe
Did you see this one?
I did, it's peak, i just couldnt download it off his website on my phone lol
This is the first time im seeing new art of his
His pieces are absolutely magnificent but as such they take so long 😔
They take long because of how accurate they are
They're gorgeous to look at too
Not only that but also just the level of detail and the realistic rendering
Also he hand paints these on big canvases so
Ive spent many an afternoon doing this
His paintings are a great source of inspiration
I have a whole story inspired by two of his paintings
These two
That first one is crazy good
amazing kit
We are so up rn @coral path
Saw this ❤️🔥
Give me headbands
I could already see how people would use this shit
Be naked and wear the headband
Be a ninja
I like the last one a lot
Yellow one with the sallet is cool
But i wonder where the headband is going...
Or what it's tied to
what was up with crossbowmen having fur lined quivers like that
your bolts arent gonna get sick from the cold 💔
It'll probably just be a ornament for helmets in general
Hunting trophies iirc
Sort of common rly amongst a lot of cultures, wearing animal bones or even human bones as a trophy on your person
Pelts would apply too
Yeah but I can't confirm that it was common to wear bones in 1460 in europe
Medieval soldiers probably didn't
add raccoon hat
Weird but ok 🤣
But like, indigenous tribes at the time sure did
Well yeah
Funny fact
Theoretically
You could actually do that
If you make the pelt into a circle
You could have a racoon orle
That was likely never done doe
Orles show colors
I don't think they'd have a pelt
Medieval soldiers often that I see, turn their pelts into basically skirts
Putting it at their waist
The pelts being capes thing is like not rly a thing in medieval europe that i know of either
Damn this definitely needs more reaction
it's so beautiful
making a sallet based off an original from the metropolitan museum of art.

crazy illustrations in the link lmao
something something plançon!!
imagine if this guy wasn't dead.. he wouldve been literally me
the design of medieval armor is quite cool
Love the pretty longish tonlet with covered cuirass
a lot of these rivets are designed to stop swords and stuff iirc
not that theyd get through anyway
Well it was also fashion too
also true
The Resurrection, Bernat Martorell, second quarter of the 15th C. Barcelona (partially destroyed in 1936).
LMAO yeah I did some digging in chat
Yooo send new images lol
👀
Also i need more rain guard refs
Someone help me out I wanna create a reference post about it
It keeps water out of scabbard which helps prevent rust
(And its fashionable)
So badass
Duke of Bourbon gaming
rich enough to have full plate
fights with that times version of a baseball bat with nails in it
It's a mythological scene
that was a 'villain' being depicted, medieval artists tended to give 'villains' crude and/or scary-looking weapons

can add these:
- c.1450 Stefan Lochner - Triptych altar of the city's patron saints, left wing; Saint Gereon [Kölner Dom]
- 1445-50 Meister von Sierentz - St. George battling the dragon [Kunstmuseum Basel]
3.-4. Mid-late 15th century sword supposedly belonging to Holy Roman Emperor Frederick III (also updated/heavily restored) [KHM]
5.-6. 1470 Kal, Paulus Fechtbuch, gewidmet dem Pfalzgrafen Ludwig - BSB Cgm 1507 fol. 27r, 69r - 1459 Talhoffer Fechtbuch MS Thott.290.2º fol. 107v "Varieties of specialised dueling longswords / bastard-swords: For the harness…Yet also for any armoured dueling…And versus pavises." (Jeffrey Hull translation)
the princess in that von Sierentz St. George has a cool coral crown
(I know this is originally 14th cent. but it's the only only medieval extant one, survived the relevant period, and in 1480 one (not this one) was given to Kurfürst Ernst von Sachsen by Pope Sixtus IV)
2nd quarter of the 14th century, Golden Rose, Musée de Cluny Musée national du Moyen Âge:
Every year on the fourth Sunday of Lent, the pope would give a golden rose to one of his followers whom he wished to reward specially for religious or political reasons.
Thornless, like those that perfumed Heaven, it was the symbol of the Passion of the Christ and his Resurrection.
This rose, which was given to the Count of Neuchâtel by Pope John XXII in 1330, is the oldest golden rose still held. The Vatican archives allowed its creator, the Sienna goldsmith Minucchio who worked in Avignon, to be identified.
From the treasury of Basel cathedral.
is the leather rain guard the chapeau en cuir?
Yeah
what's l'entree du fourreau de la pluie
"chapeau en cuir assuring the stability of the guard and protected the scabbard's entry from the rain"
This looks like a very bent bastard sword...
The true flamberge
I wonder if the bend was actually intentional, still cool
it wasnt
interesting how they didn't do that for their armor as well
i like his plackart, very interesting design i think
Yeah there's a lot of that same shape
I forgot its name I'll be sure to find it again
(I thought there was a name for it..?)
cuirass
I guess not because i can't find any sources about it and everything is so simplified to just "placard"
Ive heard people refer to it as a "french lily placard" and a "fleur de lis placard"
It wasn't
The text attached to it specify that the curve is because of the conditions it was found in
Oh cool
sick ass Head ornaments, are those armets?
yes
Yes
dayum
What is the artistic reason of soldiers with sallets covering their eyes?
I've seen this a few times
i am just wondering the implication
I don't thinks it's very deep
John...? What did you do now..?
to me it's just how he drew it, especially if the sallet sits naturally lower on the face
Well, sometimes i see them for like background soldiers. where their faces are mostly covered by the sallet and the important person being depicted is on full display
The fearless my ass look at his face 🤣
you would be shitting bricks too if you had an axe coming towards your head
For sure
but to be fair we have historical examples of some historical figures not giving a shit
Nah.
I'd win.
to be fair
a lot of people were
especially back in medieval times
you going to catch it with yer teeth? 😭
i'll gnaw on the wood handle
"That shit pine?"
also posted this image becaus I like the cuirasses and the shortened pollaxe
the short pollaxes are cool ngl
i wish they were more common in half sword doe
only being knight tier is a bit dumb
The cuirass btw
Randoslaus is goat.
kinda has that peapod or whatever the name is shape to it
soldier tf2
tf2 released in 2007
this miniature was made in the 1460s
there is literally no way the artist took inspiration on a tf2 character

The evil vampire knight and his trustworthy pollaxe
o lawd...
gonna say it again, she has an amazing kit... lmao
??
Brother this is a historical reference channel from 1450-1470 dedicated to western European arms and armour
whats wrong with my references
😔
Usually I find my references from historical manuscripts, effigies, brasses, statues, and paintings that depict armor from the time period. 🙂
Sometimes even reenactment groups and armouries that create armor based off of these historical art pieces
Well like
If you remove all the bullshit
Maybe it's 1% historical
🤔
I do find it funny, that fantasy media will choose to get helmets and spaulders the most stupidest of appearances.
But when fantasy armor creators make breastplates, they just make it the most normal shit plausible
Well most of the time it doesn't even look functional at all to begin with.
That's like a big gripe i have
Rule of cool is strong doe
But a lot of the time
Fantasy armor looks fucking stupid
There can be beautiful armor and still be functional
There a fantasy mobile game with armor like this, it's still mostly bullshit but it's actually practical lmfao
And i think it's pretty cool
Are we sure thats not ai?🧓
I found it off a artist
I don't necessarily mind fantasy imo, I still play dnd and its badass but when it comes to historical accuracy, its one of my biggest passions im ngl
All of my ocs in dnd are like fantasy bullshit
So i can't relate to that all to well
Not to say i don't have a basic knight oc doe, i have a few of those for male characters
Kind of
Not rly, i honestly didn't think much about it till you mentioned it
Idk why I have no proof that it looks like 16th century 🤣
I've seen stuff like this a lot in some manuscripts. The small waist part of the Cuirass is like very cartoonish but funny enough is seen in manuscripts
Which is neat
Maybe the design?
Oh wait that's a breastplate
Right?
If you look in manuscripts you can see them a ton
I actually think you do see it in game
The victory screen
Which is saint george
oh my god the waist
its peak
is that like a childs cuirass
no
holy smokes
Idk why but this comment is hilarious
What's all'antica? Just like really fancy gear?
Manner of the ancients. Its armor that shows more "antiquity" interpretations like from biblical scenes and such
The turning 35 thing is a myth
Huh
Example?
stuff like this
basically deliberate impracticality to give the sense that the person was from an older time
some armor was made in that style in real life to convey the same thing during events
might not show up
i feel like this will likely not be added, but fuck it would be dope
Idk its not up to me lmao
I just hope Ivan gets a kick outta it in the future
or he smites everyone to another realm
it rly is up to him
Ivan knows his stuff
i'd hope so ngl
he also owns armor iirc
a good set too
Yes
speaking of ivan, he spoke in HS chat. Once in a life time scene
Yooooo crazy find
he did it to call out someone bullshit LMFAO
but yeah
I need to find more manuscripts
dry over here
i do think they'll add it at some point
i have the Oxford library too i could look through
but dates aren't entirely reliable
There's a ton of sources
Ik there is
but finding those sites that have them
is the hard part
i find its even harder to come across like inventories or primary sources to read
manuscripts are not as hard to come by
illustrations of costumes and soldiers is a good site to look at
Warfare.ueuo
not necessarily for manuscripts but just any art that depicts soldiers
Yeah like paintings n miniatures
for reading
i do recommend you look through college libraries
most of the stuff is over there
marvelous modern reproduction by plattnerei-wiedner
this is 15th century arm harness right🗿
This is mine btw
this is like the only one i use 💀 references becomes Roblox historical accuracy channel
the face
its manly
thats how they took care of their ornaments
Give me headbands
half cape mentioned
Yeah, that cuirass is from the 1470's #1447306092957663424 message
Not
It’s the last emperor of the Romans against the son of perdition
I thought it was a recoloration of an painting of Saint george?
Oh well, ig i was wrong. Cheers for the correction
Thanks
It’s from a version of the apocalypse by pseudo-methodius which depicts the end of the world and the coming of the Antichrist
In this version instead of the last emperor simply going to Golgotha and giving up his throne, he also fights the antichrist
i need the fit 🙏
out of time period but yknow, its still eye candy
that is a large orle
looks very poorly fitted
Looks like KCD
That cuirass looks like it’s based on Churburg #10, but with way less shaping and for some reason, added tassets
dunno not my kit
yes 14th century is automatically henry skalitz game
Can I post Churburg 10 to compare it to the kit?
please do
the lighting and the gear look the part
i genuinely thought that was a KCD2 screenshot for a minute
willy has a will to fulfill
i love willies
yea im ngl after looking at it it does look like one
Chantilly MS. 652A
ca. 1460
Out of period for the game, but I’m certain that’s what the cuirass you posted is based off of
thats cool to know I just assumed it as an archangel michael slaying the dragon https://www.e-gs.ethz.ch/eMP/eMuseumPlus?service=ExternalInterface&module=collection&objectId=716609&viewType=detailView
That's not 14thc (neither is kcd)
kcd is early 15th c
Yes and so is the kit he posted
We.. we might be able to have something similar...
Even if it's technically 5 years off...
One can dreamz
I was posting that in response to a harness that brought me sorrow
Ye ik
It’s cuirass looked like Churburg 10, but with inferior shaping
Isn't it s18
Yep, you’re right, it very much is
I was saying the wrong number, I am tired and foolish

Florence fighting against a pagan Saracen giant
I fucking love doublets with the puffy shoulders
<@&1080390104562016306>
Hey! This guy is weird!
The forehead sallet plate genuinely looks cooler than the visor in some scenarios, like this one
puffy shoulders are called maheutres btw
Thank ya ❤️
(it has a visor too)
Does it?
ahhh, cheers for clarifying. Though i think the brim looked nicer than the visor
ooooh, i noticed he has some images of a Greenwich Garniture behind his workbench, is he working on something? :O
hello everyone
can someone help me with something
I also have an unusual question.
Are there any Dutch people on the server?
waddup
I'm drawing something and I need an example of 15th century Dutch knights.
period of the game ? (1450-70s)
and even better, it would be nice to see the famous Dutch knights of that time
1420-1450
Flanders/Low Country
I know that the Dutch lands were under the control of the Spanish crown.
Saint George and the Dragon, c. 1432/1435
Rogier van der Weyden , Netherlandish
not at that time
I don't think?
definitely not lol
So, the Holy Roman Empire?
since flanders, belgium ect was moreso under burgundian rule
mostly under french sphere of influence
burgundians also beign within that sphere
technically borders are divided between HRE and France and there were magnates from HRE e.g. Bavarians in the low countries in the early-mid 15th century
burgundians are french to me lol
more pls
Flanders & French but like we said it's still pretty similar in terms of influence
St. George's features are most probably those of Philip the Fair, duke of Burgundy, prince of the Low Countries (1478-1506), dressed in a contemporary typical Netherlandish armour of the very late 15th century
Danzig, circa 1480, church of the st Mary but to me it looks very flemish
I'm just drawing this knight from the lands of modern Flanders and North Brabant. The idea is that he's a mercenary willing to serve various dukes and princes for money.
He himself is of noble blood, but all he inherited was training, a sword, and armor.
thanks
and I also have another strange question
yur
but now it's not about the Middle Ages, but about the era of seafarers (17th-19th centuries)
and it is connected with Japan
Is there a possibility that the Japanese have inherited some of the European sailors' DNA from that time?
from the same Dutch and Portuguese
I don't really know much at all about this period and area and topic) but I honestly don't know why they wouldnt
probably
I feel like dutch and portuguese (or just generally europeans) sailors potentially would have offsprings, legitimate or not, with locals
yea
Most likely, in the Japanese themselves, this percentage of DNA is very insignificant, as, for example, in the European descendants of Genghis Khan
<@&1080390104562016306>
love these fringed hoods
now i think is better
Actually real

oh srry
Mf wants this in halfsword
omg Scholagladiatoria
Bro, you said that you take your references from manuscripts, paintings, etc., but where in 1450 was there a camera that captured this?
i took the pic
kev, i found it. the king of chaperon
what
tis man
Ah yes
i think he likes the chaperon
scale helmet ❤️
@terse bronze For the record, what is this helmet/bevor(?) the knight with the red orle has in the front?
this is religious, but like
tf is that
close helmet maybe
it looks like a weird nose protector used for like a sallet
but ive never seen this
till now
the man on the left seemingly has something similar
yeah it’s just a nasal
Im not really sure whether it’d be a close helmet but seems to be constructed like one
still cool, super weird doe
As far as i’m aware the definition is basically there is a single pivot for the lower part and the visor, the helmet splits in two basically
is there an early example of this?
because that manuscript is dated 1410-1425 iirc
sure there are plenty of early close helm examples and i believe this is one of them but idrk
i would send a few later ones but im on my phone
when the game releases a new free skin
this is going to be peak.
idk why I thought his mustache was a watermark but I sure did
Cool fit tho
I forgot to mention that I do follow reenactors and armouries that study manuscripts, paintings, ect., that do accurate portrayals of it.
but yeah cameras didnt exist in 1450 🤣
i thought it was about alexander the great
I would confirm this, but the source that was linked alongside the manuscript lead to nowhere. But since your the expert here, ima assume it is
Le Livre et le vraye hystoire du bon roy Alixandre, Paris c. 1420-1425 (BL, Royal 20 B XX, fol. 57r)
is that the source?
if so
thank u
yup
