These falchions are sick
We going to ignore the guy in the back lmfaoo
Medieval tf2 soldier
His sallet is just covering his eyes
Look at what's on the table
I have seen these type of falchions in other art, but idk the legitimacy of it.
They genuinely only rly appear in art that are over the top, though..i still think they are hella cool
Im happy we got one in the game lol
Such a weird manuscript
And there another falchion in the back with that same hook
And a fuuucked up edge
When i found it yesterday i was debating on whether or not i should send it, because I don't remember the source, the year, or what is even being depicted
But the armory is all over the place
Scale armor
Well it definitely doesn't fit the games period 🤣
Bascinet, spurs
A lot of falchions
Need these ingame
I bet they'll make an appearance soon.. Hopefully
mail would make full armored combat even more of a slog though in a lot of cases, imagine if those armpit stabs didn't go through
Maces and hammers deal with everyone in a few headshots
I dont find that but im not that good with a mace
I want basic mid-end equipment
more swiss army polearms
Half sword knight gameplay is boring to me but i love being semi armored like a foot soldier
we do it all
Nice ass vouge
I like the halberds in game honestly, they fit the more low end soldier feel imo for a kit
And meh, i am not a huge fan of halberds. I think they are cool doe
💔
or more billhooks, for when you want to pull someone toward you kidneys first
But so much medieval games are filled with halberds, kind of wanna see other weaponry besides it
switzerland does not have cooler shit because there is no cooler shit
I prefer the swiss degen over an halberd, any day for pure looks
Im done bro
Why?! Don't hate on the degen!!
bro thats just a gladius
Uhhhhhhhh...
Done with this chat for today
These two look
Nothing alike
I could be 500 miles away looking through binoculars in a hurricane and still could tell between these two
im mostly joking
What happened 💔
the degen you provided is a bit skinnier than most of the repros I've seen
this is more along the lines of what I think of when I hear a degen
Isn't that a swiss dagger
Swiss degen is a longer version of a swiss dagger, but like
One a dagger
The other technically an arming sword
Rly the only similarity they have is they are used with one hand
And the blade width was rly up to the user. There is some wider blades and thin blades
more so in terms of geometry, fat base, moderate taper suitable for the cut and the thrust
but leaning very thrusty
Call me crazy
But as a sidearm weapon
I would prefer thin
Over wide
down to preference really, historical fencers did seem to go thinner over time, but if you want the blade to have the heft to parry with, you might want it a little fatter
Heft to parry with?
as opposed to something really thin that is going to be harder to parry/bind with
What.
THIS CHAT 🤣
bigger flat=more area to parry
What a parry dagger is...
A off hand knife
That is intended for parrying and offense
Some don't even have notches to hook with
I mostly do iaido, so perhaps it's different in HEMA, but it's virtually always easier to parry with a wider blade in iai
you get more contact and more control that way
Parrying is done by good structure, none of it is the sword. It's how you use the sword
I can be a fragile woman and still kick a buff guy ass due to having good structure, and idk what your sword combat style has to do with it.
I think that's the same thing across like all weapon martial arts
Yeah sure SOME swords have these hooks to bind and control easier
But generally it's something just about every weapon has the ability to do besides like, maybe a few
right, but we're not comparing good structure to bad structure, we're comparing good structure with a wide blade and and good structure with a narrow blade
I don't... think that matters...
it's possible that my experience being mostly in katana (a cut centric sword) has led me to over-value features that make swords better in that realm, but in general a broader/heavier sword seems to me to be easier to control an opponent's sword with
There
There a lot more manuals someone here can show but like
Off hand daggers
Were used for parrying
And they were...
Thin..
I suppose it shouldnt matter much on such a short blade
and since they were so thrust oriented the thinness makes a lot of sense
where’d your legendary bug shaker pfp go
Cia took it
I recommend you talk this up with someone whom has done sword hema..
SamofSaturn and John longsword are options
@fast pagoda
whaddya want
They look fairly similar.

What the bruh
Evacuation bus is still open
Just woke up do I have time to breakfast

I can count the pixels
nuke the fucking channel 💔
But... all the good art and armory!!!
Chat, the swiss degen is officially a gladius and the halberd is a vouge.
Furthermore a longsword is now a long knife and the Rapier is medieval swiss army knife. Have a goodnight everyone.
Schreiber already have their own exclusive references channel for tat
Wher evil doth not dwell
The evil will probably dwell
In there minds as they go to bed
I had a cool manuscript but i am tired af and don't want to send it rn
somebody send me a burgundian flag-on-the-helmet
@fast pagoda You like falchions at least?
It would be funny if someone sent a england flag instead
Sent
Dm me for the tracking number
any info of this?
Misinterpretation of a ~mid 14thC. Bascinet in a french manuscript
The visor should be flatter, a bit like a wielding mask kinda
👋
Certain this is out of the timeframe
I love medieval welding mask
Thanks lads
It's a cool attempt at making neck protection with a helmet doe
found the thing
The art shown, what that's year? It looks like late 13th century or early 15th
~mid 14thc
so like 1320-1350 around that
can barely see the shape tbh
it look like a grande chronique de france
Alright, it's still a cool helmet. Would be cool to see in half sword but it's out of our timeframe
tbh they also forgot about how the other one in the same image looks
which has a more bulbous occularia area
This is like, a poor recreation. But it reminds me of this but longer
This is from a game too
Français 13568 fol. 83r
Histoire de Saint Louis
Cinquième croisade : Siège de Damiette
me when i puke
i think on the better drawing the visor shouldn’t be as long
So true
@robust tendon so much french heraldry
Tf is up with that lol
it's saint louis and other french nobles entering damiette
That makes more sense now
so high ranking mfs who are with a king
i mean idk for sure but im just going off of what they show in ms
It's a bit wack to see them all in just one area
which is kings wearing their heraldry and the rest of the soldiers wearing plain colors
these are knights/squires or other type shit
nothing identifying
Could also be that wearing your colors was more common earlier, idk
this one seem to be Jean de Joinville, noble from Champagne, chronicler for Saint Louis
I think that depends on the nation to be honest
It seems some countries had more heraldry over others
My beloved swiss Confederacy is often shown in art with there coat of arms SOMEWHERE on there person, either it be on the front of the armor or somewhere else
While places like england, Germany and France.
Don't rly do this, and everyone is skittles
While high rankings is mostly covered in heraldry
he was senechal (idk how to say it in english) of Champagne
thats high ranking isnt it
So basically: a commander and his officers?
Is what is being shown
He's still a knight, noble/count, here in crusade so of he's obviously gonna fight and lead people anyway
Yeah, I've seen that a lot
Mostly on horseback and they are given frog helmets (forget the name) in art
The degen is a gladius
And the halberd is a vouge
Are you mad yet, Mordschlag?
I need this ingame so badly..
See posts, photos and more on Facebook.
Not surprised to read this coming from MR. BREASTPLATE
Oh sorry
I meant the Halberd is actually a longsword
At least this is worth contemplating on
The spear is just a dagger with a long handle
me when swordstaff
Fighting the knight with my elongated dagger
I'm really considering getting shoes like this for everyday wear
I found out some people actually do that especially for hiking and pilgrimages
honestly we need to actively change the shape of our shoes, the current super pointy tip fashion is literally fucking up our feet and toes
type shit
16thc guys were onto something really
I just wear sandals a lot
I'm not surrendering my fancy pointy dress shoes
Nothing stop you from wearing them when you actually have to look fancy
Barefoot or espadrilles for me most of the time
Whenever I don't need to actually dress
I only remove them to sleep
1375-1399.
Paris, france. Finger rings on that longsword on man at the bottom.
finger rings are out of the game current timeframe, as they were primarily seen in 14th century, there is likely a few examples of these finger rings being used in more earlier examples than just the 14th century and far into the 15th century. But i find them quite cool, because its a early example of finger grip that we see with rapiers
There are many depictions of finger rings in the 15th century
have any you could send?
Yes, one moment
Do you have access to view this?
i can view it
Lots of good shit here
Will check it out more later
but i love finger rings
it would be so cool to have in half sword with a unique grip
yea im looking forward to the fencing improvements coming with EA
1410-1420 France, This is from a book by i believe Flavius Josèphe
there is some cool shit in there actually
as of right now longsword duelling feels a bit half (sword!?!?!) baked
I want to be able to mordhau
a bunch of stuff in there
Yeah ive seen it
wanna see the weirdest falchion that i have ever seen?
Sure
1400-1425
France
this is i believe religious
but the falchions from this artist depictions are so weird
This is from 1410-1440 Bavaria, germany
i just want to be able to aim my thrusts properly
double click m1
ik
use alt !
Well that just takes practice
and left handed grip
alt is good for big swings to give a bit of reach but thats hard to pull off sometimes
alright lol
oh what the hell i didn't even know abt the other threads in here
there a few
dats awesome
reference channel and two discussion channels
the discussion is to nerd out on older + more earlier equipment
references is more so for the game
awesome.
gotta say as much as i love 15th century arms and armor 14th century remains my favorite period for it. very nice.
hehe
dread it. run from it. rondel arrives all the same.
mfs really just slapped these on huh
medieval equivalent of ERA on tanks
except rondels work
truke
medieval equivalent of active defense systems was militia just putting themselves in front of arrows and bolts
I didn't even notice that rondel, are like sallets with rondels something that was common up to the mid to late 15th century?
yeah
i want to say i've seen a rondel sallet up to like 1500
I think rondels are cool, would be nice to see them in half sword
ON SALLETS
i meant to add sallets
1502
those are some over the top spikes lol
that sword is fucken mad
its a Falchion
a veeeery
over the top falchion
evil ass sword
fallout 4 krevmhs tooth lookin ass
medieval artists tend to make the weapons of 'bad guys' look scary
its a religious piece of art
were torses commonly worn at this point? would be cool to see them added as a cosmetic option
they're in period yes
idk if super common but definitely worn
epic..
these weird like
good cuz that shit looks baller
looks like an Italian bill blade almost lol
thank you kevlar
but yeah
a lot of art depicts falchions to be either, super over the top
or like just normal
statue of Dunois (presumably) as a military saint from Châteaudun
here it looks like they're trying to depict easterners
wearing a menorah on ur damn head what da hell
Art by Eol
I would try and support your claim but i sadly cannot remember the source of this
eol so good
Eol does such good stuff
that is incredibly mild when it comes to wacky crests
oh yea ive seen some crazy stuff in manuscripts
jarvis pull up the sausage skewer crest on the wicker bassinet
whole griffons and pegasus on top of heads
Saint Michael
French
ca. 1475
"Crayfish"?
ca. 1488 - 'Altarpiece of All Saints' (Miquel Lochner), Barcelona, Museu de la Catedral, Catedral, Barcelona, Spain.
saw a giant fish crest depicted on a frogmouth once
my crest would be a second helmet so my enemy wouldn't know where my actual head is
I genuinely saw a greathelm with a greathelm as a crest
as well as a couple of bunny ears
lmao that rocks
i found it
to be frank
i have no clue what is trying to be depicted
1400-1425 france, and the other art the artist made just depicts war
there is rly only French Heraldry, other horses and commanders just have what seems to be Burgundy
since most of those manuscripts are either bibles or chronicles..
Here the knight has a roman eagle on his caparison so it might very well depict romans against idk..persians ?
yeah
the SPQR eagle is there
its just a super weird collection of art
half sword, when?
if i cannot put this on willie helmet, there will be a riot istg
yup
did people think a knife could actually fit in there?
you'd be surprised
some people would
truest words spoken
they stole his face
actually a ghost wearing armor
i feel like some people look at manuscripts
and see a few rare examples of armor being cut through like butter
and say thats how all armor was
but ignore those examples that show that, are mostly just overtop
eh ive not really seen that too much
people can't understand that it was used as a device to convey a story rather than be 1:1 accurate to how armor behaved
seems to be well known that armor worked and you could move well in it, etc
i've seen it once, like years ago
you'd be surprised
Especially nowadays
like the old myths are mostly gone now but replaced with shi like 'gambeson was worn under armor for blunt impact' and 'maces were the ideal armored combat weapon' etc
voulge!!
Mordhau armor physics
A lot of medieval armor depictions involve them being killed through, ahem
blunt
stabbing in the groin, neck, or back
pulling off soldiers mail shirts and stabbing them in the ass or back.
swords are useless!!! only status symbol:::!!!
and the age old 'you'd see (x) old helmet in (x) period it doesn't belong because armor is passed down by poor people'
Like father and son!!!
worst ive seen is that they were worn for religious superstition
yup i think that was what the guy said
it was a youtube channel, alex the history guy
islamic warriors wearing a cross at their belt :
shame becuase the kits seem pretty good otherwise
Oh nononono, so much people think that armor was a heater, did fucking nothing, had zero maneuverability and was more a nuisance than helpful tool
Ofc, this mindset is fading as people are learning more about medieval armory and such, but this mindset is still around sadly
legit there's some stuff out there i trully and genuinely wonder where did people hear it
there are some universities that perpetuate old bs like 'only the rich could wear armor' afaik
i knew a russian guy who claimed he was taught that at uni lol
but idk for sure
"2 handed swords were blunt weapons not meant for cutting"
Completely glancing over the fact that a sharp edge would transfer blunt force better anyway
you can look at like 10 manuscripts of a military force
almost like
everyone was wearing some form of armor
I hate the assumption that poor went into war basically butt ass naked
poor people still had some form of armor
anecdotally
iirc they fought in minor skirmishes though. not like as actual soldiers
i think people look at peasant revolts or rebellions and assume thats what every single medieval conflict looked like
You would be surprised how many people think blackened armor is exclusively for conveying "evil black knights", instead of being a legitimate finish for armor (which I plan on making tests on how I could blacken steel to then apply to tempered armor). Or how many people think armor is ridiculously heavy
I have heard both of these things, though granted not from here.
This
the classic stuff honestly
people overall tend to transpose their modern views on societies from centuries past
i think thats how we get the gambeson under plate thing
or under maille
cause buhurters do that and they assume buhurters fight the same way medieval people did
"noble didn't fight they just sent poor troops" about a time when nobles absolutely fucking fought as much as they could
Hmm... Is there any source that states peasants did, or did not, go to war? Or do we not know?
they were like socially expected to do so afaik
rebellions i am pretty sure
they also, generally, "liked" it
you had john the blind being well, blind, and fighting and dying at a big ass battle
and being 56 or something
there is some Swiss Confederate peasants that killed a Duke of Burgundy with a halberd, but i am certain even that peasant had some form of armory
because beyond being their job (not including the rare knights for instance that prefered the paperwork and gestion aspect) it brought a lot of renown and shit
glory and stuff
there a good video that i need to find that shows that
It would make sense for the guy who was supposed to rule over a smaller section of land, to go to war for either defense, money, or renown
even very poor soldiers, still were able to be equipped with armor
charles the bold? or do u mean another duke of burgundy who died by halberd lol
legit parts of why french knights got annihilated at azincourt
bunch of men-at-arms charging semi mindlessly not listening to orders because ..er..mm... GLOIRE MONTJOIE SAINT DENIS !!!!!!!
Huh... I see. What happens to a soldier that performs exceptionally well in war, and is not a noble? Do they get rewarded or just sent back home (assuming they don't die in the middle of battle)?
there a lot ik lol
What armor peasants wear in a peasant revolt or in war.
The armor parts are build by myself for the short film "The Brigands".
The Kriegsmesser is made by Pavel Moc.

tbf
didn't they outnumber the english by a lot
Do not use dequitiems cuirass as a reference
i would be cocky too i think
he seems to know his stuff otherwise but idk why he calls his armor historically accurate
maybe he means how the steel is treated
Pff- That is funny to me for some reason
Haha axe on a stick go chop chop
also i got this comic

OOOO
I won't but i am sending it because he just knows his stuff, thats it
Not to interrupt the jokes, but Kevlar?
Oh-
probably get a promotion i'd think
no source but iirc there were instances of guys like that getting knighted
now that i think about it
i think deadass Swiss Confederacy is the only country that had soldiers with just about almost nothing in terms of armory
a lot had armor
but some depictions show them just like basic clothing
They could have armor under the clothes, which is not unprecedented (waffenrock, for example)
Oh yeah for sure
that was rather common
but its funny to see
Scheckes
could also be wearing jacks which don't always look layered
so much swiss soldiers just being in there clothes they work in to go to work in killing a noble for the 500th time
On the evening of 14 February, 1653, a delegation sent by the Lucerne Council to pacify their subjects in Entlebuch encountered an unpleasant surprise. In front of their windows, a mob of Swiss country-folk sung of the bailiffs' tyranny to the well known melody of "Wilhelmus van Nassouwe”, the National Anthem of the Netherlands. Rumored to hav...
Sory for the late reply- But if that is the case (which I know not if it is true), that would imply that the soldier in question getting knighted would get a lot of money, no?
RAAAH SWIZTERLAND
probably
Huh- I had seen them before, but didn't know their name. But yeh- They had access to options for clothes above armor
don't mind me just plowing the land..
I want to see one in hs
And the wip outhouse
throwing a willie inside there
Swirly time
AAAAUGGHHHHH
Can we throw Burgundians in before burning it down?
would the spine of a falchion work as a shitty bar mace
Probably enough to break your foot lol
borderline liquid
not very well
Sabaton so flexible you can stub your toe
we know that articulated stuff, even in the 15thc, had a wider rage of motion that the human inside it
swissoid
yea, thats why i said shitty
cool vouge
This would look even more sick with a bollock dagger tucked behind the purse
I've been really hesitating to commission a custom sword from a bladesmith
Saw this, really cool stuff
I'd like to order an irl version of a type XVa sword I made in 3D
is bro about to be beheaded
This one
I initially made it for KCD2 but the people in the modding server are a bunch of stuck up snobs :/
How are his prices?
Ough
i let you translate
I've been hesitating for Mateusz Sulowski but Idk how bad tariffs from Poland to NA would be
His Leatherwork is 🔥
CAD to € conversion is
Any good historical bladesmiths in North America?
If anyone says "Cold Steel" I'm coming to your house to bite you in the neck

i neeeeeed itttt......
Me after a slightest comprehension error online
Once I get my computer back in working order I'll put it in Skyrim if you're interested
It sucks that I have to redo my whole conversion mod though
Then again, starting back from zero gives me to opportunity to make it even better
Making everything mesh together is the hard part
<@&1080390104562016306>
Thank you kind sire
@coral path is that a padded bevor???
also what looks like the same thing here
anybody got a picture of those boulbous germanic kettles with visor slits
?
why thank you
this ones the coolest
This video was so good
‘Arrows vs Armour’ is back! This time we have an armoured soldier of 1450 in our sights. All of him.
But not just one archer shooting at our target, a whole host! Every detail of the bows, arrows, armour and clothing will be correct and every moment, every spectacle, every discovery has been filmed.
7 warbow archers with bows from 120lbs...
It was cool seeing them shooting arrows at what they described as a normally armed soldier of the 1450's, the Brigandine did really freaking well
I really like huge solid sallets
same
indeed
i think its called the razorback
turtle
medieval tutel
has the profile of an adarga
mordschlag grip when devs
me
cordate pavise
See posts, photos and more on Facebook.
Amazing sallet repro
btw more sallets from Elthien
this is such a good event. There were two so far, hosted by Adeptus at Lipnice nad Sázavou. If anyone is around CZ in spring, I can wholeheartedly recommend visiting. Great location, some cool talks, some cool workshops.
painted sallets are so cool
shame militaries nowadays don't allow customization on their helmets
that shit was cool asf in vietnam
i like this type
its like from bloody bastards england final boss
theese bevors are cool
the first one is attrocious
important to note that it's pretty much sure that these sallets (pretty much out of the time frame too btw) were originally covered
and painted later on
damn
you can see that by the amount of little holes all around the sallets
on the edges
meant to sew on stuff
don't think it would be wrong to call it pavise
the lion
why does he look at him like that
nice mirror polish
Is this game going to be focused on European nations only? Because imo I always thought middle eastern armor and weaponry is so nice
Don't post armstreet
also isn't that at the very least 16thc?
Is armstreet more fantasy? And according to them it was late 14c to early 15c
Armstreet is a costume shop
what they say, or show isn't to be trusted
well even if they were right, it still wouldnt fit the game timeframe
That armor is so dope
This is not western European armor, it will not be in the game
Also yeah i hate armstreet

Since half sword will be beginning of a trilogy, i do expect to see a sequel or spinoff game based in the middle east, but rn nah
me
thats u?
Oh I didn’t know they were already planning on other games, then ya I changed my mind, fully support keeping half sword western European
Honestly
jewerly would be cool in half sword
like rings
and necklaces
saint george had some cool rings
in the statue
Samofsaturn confirmed with me that the sword on the ground is an example of an early rapier from ca.1470.
just gonna leave this here
it'd probably also be reasonable to call it a sidesword, the distinction is, as I understand it, not precisely delineated
is there a typology similar to oakeshott for rapiers and the like?
I thought it was originally an example of an early rapier, I confirmed it with someone trustworthy, I am capable of discussing it further for terminology purposes
i am fairly certain this is a bastard sword, the finger rings here are actually rly cool
the hilt looks a bit short for a bastard sword, I don't know that you could get 2 hands on it comfortably
and it's worth remembering, almost all of these classifications are later inventions, and there were no universal names for these weapons at the time
it's a early form of rapier
spada da lato / side sword whatever you want to call it
the fact that the people in the image are all in civilian dress and carrying swords does suggest that these swords were of the everyday carry variety, like the espada ropera or sidesword which we see becoming popular in italy and spain in the late 15th century
I don't think your average civilian wore a kettle helm around town
I completely missed that the dude with the big booty had pauldrons on
this is just a religious painting i am pretty sure with at the time gear
I thought the kettle helm was just a dark colored hat, mb
and some older stuff too, i could be wrong but i think those shields and armor the man in red with the kettle is wearing was older(???)
it's a pretty eclectic mix of fashions and armor, looking closer at the garb
the fact that they're wearing clothes doesn't automatically mean they're [only] civilians
as in, how they're presented is very reminiscent soldiers or some kind of militia that just wore their everyday clothes, but with weapons. Maybe a skullcap here and there, some greaves maybe ect
A lot of Mercenaries didn't wear much armor either i am pretty sure
a lot of just people
the idea of wearing normal clothes in like
the military
is a tale as old as time
this dagger is intersting too, particularly being worn on the right hip rather than the left where it would be more accesible for your dominant hand
but you dont have the big quillons you'd expect from a parrying dagger
ima just say the obvious thing: we don't know what hand this man is dominate in.
but if we go off the art shown and assume his dominate hand is where the knife is located, he will pull the sword from his left side and be at ready. and the dagger be pulled from via the left hand as a parry dagger or offensive weapon, i mean thats just logical ngl
it would be odd for religious art in the 15th century to depict someone left handed
my overall point being, it doesn't seem to be a backup weapon, but rather used in the off hand
if his sword is on the left.. then his right would be the hand that pulls it
of course, I'm merely pointing out that the way the dagger is worn here tells you something about what the fighting style of the depicted weapons may have been like
I don't think the dagger really means anything to be honest
its just a knife
most soldiers carried one
not on its own, but it gives us some interesting context. If it were carried as a tool, you'd wear it on your left side where you can easily access it with your right hand
ok
some people carried sheathed swords around their groin
depictions of the swiss degen in art
show it being on the hip
or infront of the groin
i think the position of a weapon
really was just up whoever the hell used it
it was whatever was more convenient and comfortable
for the person using it
nice doublets here, holy
I cant tell if his pants are pink or if he's just letting his ass hang out
he's naked
go now and spread the rumor that medieval peasant warriors fought naked
Spreading diseases is there special move
it wouldn't be that weird, there are plenty of medieval depictions of people naked for one reason or another, though it'd be weird in a battle scene
aren't those just depictions of dead soldiers after like an execution and looting
I mean in other contexts, like feasts, games etc.
A carving of St George and the Dragon.
English, C.1475-1480
dropping trow to poop in a gutter wouldn't be that odd to see in most medieval scenes
that is a dope ass fucking statue
1470-1480 Germany - Das Buch Belial
Stuttgart Cod.theol.et phil.fol.195
I meant it wouldn't be weird in the wider medieval context, but in this context specifically it'd be a bit unusual
what kind of bevor is that?
with the one in the red doublet
oh I am asking because it kind of looks like its rigid for more movement
that last guy is so cool
i love finger rings on swords graaaahhh
agreed
same brother, same
i pray it makes it into half sword
i will be the sacrifice to the volcano if it means finger rings
would willie even be able to make use of them?
...yeah...
Luca signorelli, madonna del latte e flagellazione (Detail), 1480-83
I genuinely didn't know, I don't know how complex the grip simulation is in the game
nice ass
Anyways, i see a finger ring. I approve of this manuscript
fresco
are these meant to be flagellants? pretty wimpy if so
the cords aren't even bloody
bro
the black death era flagellants were much more metal
rope, metal it doesn't matter
shit fucking hurts
i'm saving this
good to know i am not the only one who found this funny
saint michael depiction, northern italy ~41st millennium AD
the earlier flagellants were pretty extreme, most were heavily scarred or bloodied
that is not a medieval depiction
"burgundian" pollaxe
Is that the blood angels?!
sanguinius my beloved
sanguinius papa
this is probably the most brutal version
scourges might make a neat weapon for the lower ranks, not that effective but very painful
its certainly as plausible as a stool or candlestick
dumbest question of all time: But what would these banners usually be used for? Tournaments or military?
military
thanks
I mean i guess since some of these are noble's CoA that would be used during tourney but that's all about war standards
these are actually rly interesting, ima save these and use them for the EA when custom heraldry is there
you might also bring them to the melee
at a tournament

you and your retinue come out with your banner, at least initially, parades were a part of a lot of tournaments
we need more pollaxes bro
isn't this in game?
idc we need more
This isn't a pole"axe" pal
i kill you
polehammer 🔥 🔥 🔥
i don't think that hammer head is in the game doe
Stone this man
honestly now that i think about it, i think this game only has two hammer heads
imagine this degree of pollaxe customization yo
the fucking weapon would be legitimately the coolest shit ever
someone make this an suggestion

banger
why did they do that to the children
it's the Massacre of the Innocents
and that is why
The Massacre (or Slaughter) of the Innocents is a story recounted in the Nativity narrative of the Gospel of Matthew (2:16–18) in which Herod the Great, king of Judea, orders the execution of all male children who are two years old and under in the vicinity of Bethlehem. Most scholars reject the historicity of Matthew’s account of the Massac...
Lot of depictions of this
indeed there is. here’s the one on display at the detroit institute of art that i saw.
So insane
Pretty sickening
Very early 14th century (not 1450-1470)
Ca.1480
very pointy tassets
also can we stop with thw baby killing for a bit
very disturbing
New mull drawing is based off this I think
She has such a nice kit 💯
Awesome gauntlets too
I LOVE THIS NEW GAMEMODE! 😄
Hoping for all'antica stuff for hs too (not too much)
is this not just a capwell illustration
No lmao what i sent above it is what im guessing its based off of
Misleading. WARNING 1.
that’s what’s-his-name’s harness
Idk its based off an effigy I think
Found this in the new art
Hoping for some germanic jacks ❤️🔥
And that military fork
This is why we armor our backs
ugh that would hurt so bad
it always tickles me when people romanticize the medieval era like bro it sucked
You either died at birth, from disease, an army or turning 35
Like no thanks
They were some tough times 100%
fr
maybe i couldve been born as a bastard son blacksmith
Look at these happy people from the early 14th century!! 😍
Samuel
There were old men in the medieval period. The thing that is terrifying to us moderns is the chaos
The world is not well understood, operating on rational abstract principles but rather a dark chaotic place of chaos and caprice
God can kill your whole village with a freak hailstorm, you can't do anything about it
I can hear Caseoh screaming already.
Would really like to see some Halberds with a more properly shaped head constructed out of one piece. (images are time appropriate)
why does that helmet look like Charlie from smiling friends 💔
Im really wondering where to find accurate references for modeling 3D armor, weapons and such (from late middle ages), but i just cant seem to find anything right, do you guys have any idea?

That looks promising, thanks alot
Just gonna repost this cuz its cool
Really good examples of English armor imo
Also here's some cool crests:
These dope gauntlets
?
Wtf
also did you see that one video of matt easton with tobias capwell where he says that this harness if pretty funny because it's the how the italian perceive/reproduce the french style of the time
so it's not 100% french style ofc but an imitation made by italians
ugly ass shoes and that helmet is hideous
aren't you one of those gothicaboos that only love german armor
no-
Also the sabatons aren't mounted correctly btw
Crests you say?
"yo bro check out my new helmet ornament, its a bird hand holding a golden ball"
I think its dope af
its similar to Alla Tedesca with Italians imitating German style armor
are you shaming the great bascinet...?
I like great bascinets, but I hope that if they were to add one in the game it would be a different one
Even though it's pretty much the best extant one we have
For me personally, nothing's wrong with it, I just feel like I've seen it too much
ion even care brah das me
so cool
def looks early imo
Tobias Capwell has that on 🔥
God damn that's smooth asf
Would almost be a shame to ruin it in combat
fr
this one is the coolest i've seen tbh
same
That is rad as fuck
Is that historical because it straight looks fantastical
Drippiest mf of all time
it's fantastical BUT made by people from thye period
all'antica / heroic
It looks dope fa
this specific torso armor is directly based on this saint's armor (Saint Maurice et Jean de La Barre - circa 1495-1496, by jean Hey)
*fs
*ff
bro the drip is unreal
gilded plate repro in the last pic
wonder how much that shit cost
Idk but it looks badass
yeah u dont see it too much beyond partial gilding like poleyns/couters/whatever else
on repros anyway
do you guys fw any dark souls armor
may I show you some?
Yeah go ahead
This is prolly my fav in the game
Looks better than most fantasy armor i must admit
ds does a decent job at it most of the tome
*time
This one isn't that egregious either
Yeah I like the other one a lot better. (Im gonna say it, this one sucks)
that's fair lol
What about this one
And last one
I really don't like this one
1/5
you in a mirror
Anyone have peasant facts for the timeframe
Sometimes they were bald but not always
Really?
Yeah
That's great news... because it means my head is already historically accurate...
The Caesar tapestries have some fantasy looking armour but a brig with spaulders doesnt look like that to me lol
honestly, i think Diablo funny enough has some fairly accurate armor
NOT THE RARE ARMOR
What if he just has big shoulders??????? (tis is a joke)
tbh his shoulders do look enormous
Honestly the shoulders give me like
doublet vibes
despite it not being one
mmmmm... Sallet with rondel
wait, how much fucking rondels are there in this manuscript
5 goes so hard
A Bycocket hat and kettle with a crown is the toughest shit I've ever seen in my life wtf
Mf was giving him keys to his entire life savings and retirement home because that drip was too crazy
