Aye since ya asked more for heroic armor refs so here ya go
#references♥_1450-1470

Ah yeee this is hot stuff!!
Yeah pretty neat!
Ive seen one or two of those armors before but ye they could totaly be made at some point
Not sure what century is this, but it could be to 14th to 15th maybe?
You know asymmetrical legs could be cool
Think those are early 15th century so in the ball park for this one 👌
This one
This one im not sure, ive seen it on pinteest n saw it was some depoction from a more modern period
I think it could be 15th century, cause it’s using some of the archduke sigismunds pieces you could say
What we would love to make is a armor system that allowes the player to make their hero as they want him to be, with a combinstion of the armor parts we will make. But we will end up with similar parts id belive 🙂
Yeah, similar to mordhau
In mordhau you can customize how fat, strong, skinny your character is and can customize the colors of the armor sets, and patterns
@candid dawn do you think these are possible to implement? And not just have the walking animation loook goofy on them?
Bth they are from the 1520
And called tonlet, supposed armor for Henry himself
surely we add the grand Horned Helmet of King Henry the VIII (made between 1511 - 1514)
This’ll look so perfect in game
Foot armor for once again Henry in the 1520
honestly t this point they should just add King Henry VIII into the game lol
Could you post a higher resolution screenshot for that?
Mmm could be interesting what if you meet him as a boss at some point
Much much better
Although you have to keep in mind, the devs are currently making armor/weapons in the early 15ths so yea
So Maximilian Armour would be age appropriate?
maxi armor is from the 16th century
ohh right sorry i thought you mean 1500's mb
But don’t worry, devs are gonna add them later down the line
Like I said they are working on adding weapons plus armor from the 15th century
And after they finish doing that they’ll go to other periods and add them
Yes! It will take time and might look like a few sets of armor parts, but the stuff we show are usually right from the rnd process, but the wish is really to fill a need where other games display few armor parts or a lot of fantacy in the art, so if anyone like me have the same feeling where games underearimate realistic armor grounded in history is where we would love do a bit different or explore more from what is already out there. Already saying grounded in history is a huge statement imo as non of us developers are historical scollars but love the setting and the estetics so its the direction we will go for, we will do that to the best of our abilities. With this said I personally would really appriciate feedback from people who have more of greater perspektive of the arms and armor to give in their toughts and siggestions, have to say already now that all feedback will be read and il do my best to adress it.
Hehe now thats some tall armor. But lets keep it within the time period of the goal and scope of the game for the refrence :))) so we dont loose out on some refrences and clear up the confusion ❤️⚔️
so this would be time appropriate then?
concept was designed in 1487, which falls under the 15th century parameters
(was built too which makes it historically accurate)
I love milanese armor
ayeee your here now
one of our very many fellow exanimates here
@candid dawn Hey man, just saw the Wallace barbute in the art work channel And noticed something wrong with it
And also the helmet is from the 1469 -1486
Eloo mate! Not sure whats wrong with it but do let me know 😅 im not sure i used the wallace barbute as my refrence when i made those but that one is a very fine specimin👌👌👌
nothing seems wrong with it, you did a fine job. this guy is just a charlatan
how are you going to say something is wrong with the model and then post two practically identical images as substantiation to your claim?
just because they didn't model it exactly like how your google image looks doesn't make it wrong.
Ahhh sorry then
lmao
oh yeah thanks for reminding me to tell him the deference's between the two
?
Its just this thing that looks odd about it, other than that its very awesome
Yeah I agree with Fencer, that does look odd
That would be a bit weird in sword fight, as if a blow came from below it could get caught on the nose thingy and do some bad stuff to the guy wearing it
it's alright, sorry i exploded
Alrite, ima revisit this one once im back after the holidays! Cheers for pointing that one out! 🙂
honestly, your model looks really good
the fighting isn't 100% realistic either
imo you shouldn't worry about that helmet
don't waste your energy on some insignificant details
I mean, I don’t think He’s gonna spend a lotta time on it, he’s just gonna adjust one little thing
thanks, I was gonna go even further but I got bored and started playing halfsword
ITS JUST SO FUN
can't wait to have 14th century stuff in this game
Im also really exited to get back and work on it, currently the xmas period is a time consuming period 🤣
chained variant of the hosen
Is it based on historical findings? Never heard of that before
You know, let me make sure
I couldn't manage to find any, but heres some cool things
damn thats a lot of references
that one also has a lotta cool stuff
https://www.pinterest.com/knyghterrant/ this guy has a lot of cool references For helmets and such
the bronze statues based on the concept art
I'll continue on later, Pinterest is a really good way to have references
And in fact I have my own, but it does really lag sometimes because of the amount of things I saved
And theres no categories so you'll just scroll down
all thanks to the folks on Pinterest
RoYaL aRmOuRiEs
Wow, never saw the "skirt armor" in action. Didn't know it's so wobbly
yea tonlet armor is very fancy, I could show more examples
hold on for a bit
one of the weirder ones to be honest
I thought it was tournament exclusive
according to the drawing probably
I'd love to see tonlet armor on more games man
the only game I know that has one of these so called tonlet armor sets is a mobile game
I had it in my previous build :)))
called bloody bastards
YOU HAD WHAT
you didn't upload it anywhere right?
I didn't know this game had full plate armor already
more examples
this is literally the first thing I made on Unreal Engine, so its a piece of garbage
sooo many cool armor that we haven't seen
I may uplad a playable build here though :)))
I'd love to play that!
its not even that bad
a lotta things are kinda clipping though
hehe, I tried to make ps1 graphics at first. But the I decided it should be just a crappy 3d models with textures just stretched over them :)))
Now hear me out
yee, it was just a little solo project for school, so I didnt care about visuals at all
"bulletproof"
really impressive for a solo project!
Maximillian armor
Thank you!
with grotesque helmet
but now, when we have professionals working on our side, we can make a Real Tonlet Armor!!
and ugly helmets too!
btw, we have a barbute ready
will add it in the next update
yeah, I saw it in the art work in progress thingy
@sly trench wanna see something cool?
https://robertoravioli.artstation.com/ look at this guys latest post
this guy somehow managed to make the exact same as this without missing it up
He also ported it into mordhau, if you've ever played that
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/785821250806480916/1055393934798499850/image.png heres one of the builds I made using his armor
also, you think maybe allowing for accessories such as orles, plumes cool?
Yeah, the armor I just showed you was on a modded server
https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/785821250806480916/1055393630984093696/image.png?width=282&height=676 that gives you Wayyyy more options for armor
That set is very awesome
I bought it when I first saw it lmao
and bth, it actually exists irl
I can show it to ya
I honestly kinda like the sort of old school graphics.
Gorgeous!
but its late 16th century, right?
I wouldn't be surprised
I dont know a lot of stuff about it, I just find it cool
lemme check
we are trying to keep around 1450th
oh really? I thought it was in the early 15th century
yep, that was my initial idea
but @candid dawn loves sallets :)))
so we moved the brackets a bit :))))
hmmm interesting
oh my beloved bascinets
take a look at this place
has a lot of cool stuff of bascinets and armor
The helmet from the game!
his full kit is awesome too!
hehe it might very well be the reference our modeler used :))
its just that plume that looks quite eh about it but still very good
I want this too
initially this should have been my main visual reference
I love the great helmet that he has on
yes, me too!
but I also wanted armets and sallets to be in the game. And gothic armor is cool too
From what I've heard from deod116, is that you guys want to go from century to century
make weapons/ armors in said century and than move on to the next one
that is if I didn't misunderstood him
not quite like that. Our base game should be set in 15th century. But we can also make DLCs for Vikings or... Burgundians :)))
ohhh so expansion packs
yes!
mmm alright
but we will think about that later
for the base game we want to keep setting consistent
hehe
it would be cool though :))
this
for Burgundians you meant Herioc armor?
like NFS Porsche Evolution
but about knights :)))
knights with weapons and armor killin' each other
Legendary tier :)))
When I play this game, I just cant stop thinking about exanima for some reason
I cant think about Exanima while making this game :)))))
also our new music samples.... they remind me of that too :)))
I even sometimes play some exanima ost while playing this game lol
Sunset Sonata Beridan is such an awesome ost in that game
Alrighty then, good luck!
I wanna find more burgundain style of armor sets references for you guys
heres a plumed variant of one of the helmets that deod made

https://www.pinterest.se/katzb4lger/kit/ also my personal fun cool badass german stuff folder...
Ooohooo here we goo, more good stufff 🥲🥲🥲
turns out the chained hosen was real thing!
🐣
Late 14th early 15th yeah
Poland, Alla antique stylized probably Roman soldiers or barbarians
This type of visor is probably an artistic liberty done by the painter to match the blibical theme, but i think it might be a neat addition
Kit based on Alla antique artwork
From churburg i think
We got this ☝️👌
Is this our bevor too?(:
Will we have the funny antennae knights?))
Are you guys accepting stuff from far eastern europe
Just so that we can have more antenna creatures
@sly trench on the topic of eastern europe
all i want in terms of gear is the ability to wear a cool coat over your armor
is that planned?
or should i be asking deod
cause i still consider this the drippiest outfit ever created
The helmets not quite accurate tbh, especially since it's from osprey
(the real helmet)
🤓
Ayy nothing is impossible, rn if we can add the plate armor properly we can experiment with all sort of stuff 👌👌
amazing
I would say, that's not a huge problem (:
We were going to have some physically simulated clothes anyway. And I haven't seen another game with pimp nights. We might be first)
This was done plenty in western europe
ohhhohoho I remember having the full manuscripit thing
hold on
the fookin
If this is the case, then hear me out
https://www.pinterest.com/katzb4lger/bauernwehr-and-messers/ @candid dawn heres a collection i have of some nice messers, you might like them as reference for later
almost all are germanic 1450-1500
Ayyy these are great! Thanks my dude! :D❤️
based on a real find from lodz (poland)
ow thi stuff is good refrences, do you have more from poland based in the mid 15th century? @sullen charm
I'll send tomorrow
Besides that they pretty much wore German gear, so a kastenburst is a possibility if it's mid 15th
👌👌 anythign from mid 15th is super appriciated🥲
Armor from the 1537
ayy this is beautiful! 😄
Irish - Scottish Lough henney helmet
pretty cool helmet
Would be nice if we can get their laminar harness as well
I think Katz has a pin dedicated to it (posted it on top as well i think)
hmm, cool
Super good
Lithuanian and west Rus eastern conical helmet with rondel and bevor hybrid, taken from the radzivil chronicle
The rondel is attached to the bevor, something you don't see everyday
Eastern Helmets like this (from Belarus)
That + German bevor with rondel attached to it
And a flag on top
Irish effigy dated to 14th - 15th century
The bascinet based on it, not sure if it's supposed to be blackened like this though
https://pin.it/1gz75RL german daggeraxes (dolchstreithammers)
Some were more like warhammers tho
And some were mounted on quite long hafts

@candid dawn and this!
like this one is pure baller I cannot lie
yee this should be a 5-star lootbox stuff
whats the point with the pointy noses? what use did they make in combat
deflects arrows sometimes
mspaint diagram i made to try and explain this
of course a 2d representation of physics in a 3d space isnt the best
but you get the jist of it
Thank you, this is art work. it made me shed a tear
https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/27791 almostttt mid 15th century but here anyways
1464-1465, Jaume Huguet, Reial Capella Santa Agata, Barcelona
could possibly be the first boss!
I think there was a corrazina with a similar chest decoration in the middle too
Now I’m not much of an anatomy expert, but aren’t biceps triceps and the brachialis apart of our arms?
I don't think, looking at the images, the biceps bone is more in the middle and has less divisions between the muscles, as for the thigh muscles, it has more divisions and looks more like the image I sent earlier.
the top image would be the legs, and the bottom would be the biceps and triceps.
Sorry, it's the arm, I saw that the image has a muscle close to the biceps.
Guh
Lechon.
SCHEKE
Tru!
Since references for bardiches was asked, here's some 15th century ones
katana
Samurais are medieval though
not european
Wouldn't hurt to have east asian stuff one day
it would. asian people arent real...
no
Fr I'd kill to get dressed like this in game in the far future
asian people dont exist
you cannot convince me that those korean stars arent robots with silicone faux skin

the "legs" cross section is arms. its got the ulnar and radial nerves, and the humerus bone.- 🤓
on itch.io
i wish i knew how to open it though
i hate the launcher system for itch
dont use the launcher lol
just download it
A ton of helmet designs in a meme template.
Spangenhelm Is drippy as hell
@sullen charm death
😕
Suicide
Nah fr tho i choose frog mouth
Frog-mouth looks like a toilet
The frog mouth looks like dark/demon souls one
Bro Hounskull is for pinocchio 💀
Bascinet
Great helm FTW
Can’t really tell the difference between the Torse and Orle unless they’re just the same thing but it’d be real nice if they made an appearance in the game, I really love the color it adds to the steel
Mostly from French/Flemish sources (except the ones with the tassets which are from the Pastrana Tapestry)
you think this fits with the period of this game?
Of course
and stuff like this y'know
would fucking go hard with this game
especially the red dude in the purple dude
True, but that's the dev's decision if he wants all'antica stuff or keep it "real"
oh I did send in all'antica stuff deod likes it pretty much If I recall
Although some all'antica elements can definitely be used irl like some pauldrons and such
they also want Bascinets to be in the game too, I did do my own posting of that stuff
I can't wait to be walking around with armor like this
I know most suits of armor are specifically built to be one comprehensive suit, but it would be cool to see them try a random armor generator kinda similar to the swords
It’s a harness not a suit of armor 🫣
I always thought of something like that, but the issue is that the game is trying to be accurate with its armor so that wouldn't really make sense I guess
https://youtu.be/TablMu23n0U not sure how credible this is but thanks for the info, for anyone else wondering about the difference this helps(if you have any information to prove this as not credible please tell me soon).
How to tell the difference between a suit of armour and a harness with the gang behind the scenes at the Glenbow Museum.
You can learn more about history and travel on my author website: https://aechandler.wixsite.com/author
https://www.goodreads.com/aechandler
https://www.amazon.com/Scarlet-Forest-Tale-Robin-Hood/dp/0992053927/ref=tmm_pap_swa...
Well the issue comes when there’s only a few full harnesses, which considering the way we set up our choice of weapons and armor in the menu there’s bound to be mismatched armor pieces regardless
harness is just the period name for what people call a "suit of armor" on top of that its also interchangeable with a lot of languages
harnisch in german
harness in english
harnais or harnois in french
harnesk in swedish
harnas in dutch
its also shorter too
So it’s just semantics?
kind of, its just the more accurate way of saying it since "suit of armor" was never really used
Fabric covered cuirasses would be a very nice addition, a solid way to tell who’s on who’s side
They're low key baller af
We all agree with that lol
Finally someone not calling it placard over brigandine
Slight repost but I love that brigandine with a lance rest (the standalone piece is from an italian brig (or corazzina) from around the 1450s with notches to attach a lance rest)
sadly I can't find any recent pictures because there's a strong possibility that it got either lost of destroyed during ww2
I can't recall, is maxi armor late 15th century or 16th century?
16
However you see the premises of similar shaped stuff in the very last years on the 15thc
what about these tonlet Harnesses, do they fit the time period?
Absolutely not
as I thought so
Well it depends what period devs are going for exactly
And if it's strictly second half of 15thC., then no
Nice nice
Schecken
oh yea I remember doing my own scheke posting lol
would look awesome ingame
you know it would be a combo if the hosen can have a cross like the scheke here
reposting this one cuz the one I posted before was low qual for some reasons
mm yeah something like that
I remember you posted something on the aeternis server
hold on a bitty
Was it the swiss guy
I think so, I just remember it being black and orange maybe
and he had a cross in his left leg
Imma go on aeternis methinks
also yeah what about the fuckin
Milanese armor
the thingy that roberto has been making
@candid dawn here ya go, one drawing with multiple scheke designs I guess
wait haven't I sent this before?
right here

A Sallet with the Gorget attached to the visor, found it to be pretty interesting, but it should be mentioned that it is a early 16th Century copy of a 15th century manuscript as stated https://wiktenauer.com/wiki/Solothurner_Fechtbuch_(Cod.S.554)
The Codex S.554 is an early 16th century copy of Paulus Kal's fencing manual of ca. 1470. The original currently rests in the holdings of the Zentralbibliothek Solothurn in Solothurn, Switzerland. The paper of the manuscript bears a watermark that was used between 1506 and 1514, though it may have been created after that. Unfortunately, the manu...

ULTIMATE BRUGUNDY MAN
it's true
polehammer is also burgundian apparently, and housed in berne iicr but i was too lazy to fact check this so i have to trust the overpriced smith
Examples are not of century BUT regardless of such, with full plate duels, it would be pretty cool to see a secondary slot that could switched to by either throwing your weapon or sheathing it, that way you could pin point gaps in the armor with a more effectively precise dagger
my god that guys harness is fucking beautiful, although looks quite weird
this looks 17th century
Yea my bad, I should’ve realized it was a closed helm, unfortunately I had it next to some foot helms of the 15th century
Two Armets from the mid 15th century, or around 1440
Hot stufff
Pretty cool😀
First image is a rug☝️
English armor, fuckin love the great bascinet of his
way out of style but the time Halfsword's aesthetic was prevalent
Anyone got a clue on what kind Sallet this dude wearing
the sallet
Thought it was this for a second
Not really Sure…. Although I do remember seeing it in some other manuscripts
love me some real fake helmets
wheres the art from?
may be able to narrow it down
looks italian to me
actually
more that i look at it
it might be burgundian
This page describes and shows an image of an item in the Catalogue of Illuminated Manuscripts
Warwicks armor ❤️
jesus
tha would be heavy and hard to walk in
and to see in
Not as heavy as you’d expect it to be
probably not that hard to walk in
hard to see in, yes
and breathe in
depending on helmet style
also could get hot
that said i personally intend to get a somewhat light configuration
Could you even freaking see out of that?
yes
the holes look a lot bigger an inch in front of your eyes
if we do not get milanese style armours in this game i will FLIP
milanese style armor will be in the game 🙂
yeahhhhh babyy
Are brigandines coming?
Yes, in the future 🙂
awesome
and THIS is why we love deod
Is that holy body armor
Italian helmet that's dated in the 1470, found on the royal Armories collection
kettle hat plus tall bevor
We have that helmet in the backlog! :))
Literally just realized that after posting it lol
we don’t have that bevor of it yet yeah?
dat's an anglo
i think they are called buffe
same thing lol
yes but that sounds weird and confusing
It does but it's funny
that sucks bro
its great
huh
it looks amazing
No
the same picture hunts us all I see lol
kinda funny because I see the same thing in like any medieval game server
At least it's not Christos giannopoulos
He’s the same person that drew the funky sallet yeah?
I love this
bro the mask
Isn’t this picture some sort of historically inaccurate “armor evolution”
yes, exactly
I love how the game has been announced to take place during the mid-late 15thC. but ppl still manage to post stuff that isn't within that period
he's so badass

idk if their gear is accurate to half swords setting but their movements and stuff could all be used as reference
i just realised u can now block overhead swings easily by grabbing the other bit of the sword
holy shit i love dequitem
Average half sword enjoyer
What's the source on that?
Prob just half sword on google
Update; I tested it out by looking through a bunch of super tiny holes made in a foldable weebshit fan, you could still see a good amount through.
Isn’t that the Black Prince’s?
i will change this because the sword is too short
Nicee
meant to post this in references mb
made this one in seconds
I want to take actual examples of real heraldry and recreate them here
forgot to show a simpler design
Nice
its 1:30 am for me
heraldry looks pretty good
thanks i made a ton

WE NEED THAT
1460 France, KBR ms. 9547 - Petit Jean de Saintre got these from @sullen charm
i love that type of art
We should really add this!
the plume?
actually I think we already have that
so sad
scheke hehehe
this will be me in halfsword
da
ikr right
so many good combos could be done with schekes
the time period of the game allows for a lot of good shit to be added too
1430 to-1480 I think
ooo thats very cool
focusing on one period of armour would be sick since there would be more of that type of armour to chose from
where as mordhau u have like 5 decent 15th cent cuirasses
Cool book
we gonna make it out the collosuem with this one 💯

he has some nice kits and shows a lot of pics of them, which is really nice
Love the sallet❤️❤️
yeah, his stuff is pretty cool like I said
what
what an unusual helmet
wtf happened to bro
I bet he felt real smart not wearing any leg armour
slicing through solid plate HOW
Source on this? This is some fun looks.
its an anonymous manuscript sadly
https://digi.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/diglit/cpg152/0521/image,info,thumbs look a lot like this ms
Elisabeth : Herpin; Universitätsbibliothek Heidelberg
i think it's that particular ms actually but can't look at all the invidual miniatures
@small moss ^
ребята помогите как играть с других карт
В новой демке? Никак

Thanks!
the picture posted originally is folio 23r
I love this bth
errrmrmmm thats acthsually a gambeson
gambeson all over your mom
Isn’t gambeson a padded armor?
it would be nice. Surcoat was common back in the days
its early 15th century but still. I just couldnt
find mid 15th stuff. But i ve seen some sources with that
we got like viking axes already, why not expand on it
the whole game is just basically half axe
but it would be cool to see another great axe yknow
The scyche is the great axe now}
if I could wish for anything it'd be waffenrocks, especially those with pointed/rounded ends like these
lol
wtf is the viking axe
axe but axy
btw two handed or one handed axe is not a weapon for a viking. It is spear a shield. Vikings were known for fighting in formation while axe was quite common for knight as a secondary weapon

...
here its 14th century axe
and 100 precent they were used in 15th century
moreover it doesnt have to a battle axe to
it could be the weapon to recreate peasants and etc
wtf
I thought they used 2 handed axes, smaller ones
Or stuff like this
stop nerding out
No, met him nerd out, it’s how we keep a setting for a historically themed game solid
Helmer
agreed, i think it'd be nice if the game had a really solid/accurate depiction of arms and armor from a specific time period
as opposed to something like mordhau where anything goes
We will have our focus on the European 15th century, we wont mix periods for arms and armor from different periods and areas of the world. Locations will be unspecific but it will be within the peropd of what you would see in the 15th century in Europe. 🙂
Straight up shit 🔥 🔥 🔥
Ong
Why 15th century?
Why not 😉
Chain Mail is awsome
Will come in future 🙂
Will you make armor dent, have scratch marks, or cut. Especially stuff like chain mail in the future?
sooon
does nothing against mace
scythe
wouldn't the common soldier still have often worn a mail shirt in the 15th century?
https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/26849
yeah mail shirts were still around by the 1400s
Yeah maille is pretty common in the 15th century but you don't always see it used
In Italy you see a lot of brigandine only guys
Or people wearing padded jacks
Guy with a jack and maille on his doublet sleeves
Some soldiers
Still exist in the 16th century
Portugese Armor (late 15th century)
Brigandine like armor with spaced out studs that were placed horizontaly
The helmets have a colored lining that goes over them, with rivets and ornaments on top of the helmet
Drippy as all heck
very surprised theres no brigandine ingame
Early build
the brigandine with the tassets
because 15th c. is the drippiest my man
i really hope we get to see some armor paint, sallets etc
Hey that's me
Welcome aboard branko
Thank you!
erm akshually
WHERES MAH GAWH DAMN MALLE BRAIES
omg hi bossk
hiii tehe
So many mordhauians...
its a mix out of everything
Spiked duel shields anyone?
not just mordhauians but mordhauians nerds 💀
The nerds are the best part of mordhau
mordhau experts' carefully planned strategies being reduced to nothing when a half sword fan comes along with a scythe
proceeds to get split in half like a boss
To complete the sets of italian armor, a italian armet should def be made
wrapper can be a secondary attatchment just like the bevor
^
Would need to make the wrapper only equipable with the armet though
armets will always be awesome
only the real ones chose close helmet
Battle of Towton,
you can the different drip of 15th Century
those are way too late for half sword
bruh i thought we were going to debate
nice drip
not really as I like both styles of helmets
ok
Bro I want a actual closed helmet and normal hit boxes for the neck protection
Whuuttt the helll
oh ye this is some good stuff! ❤️
Only for you and the rest of the team
One must imagine fancier clothing on top of mail
visor helmets?
Shoulder armor with ridges
This is later 15th, but the neck protection is something you guys should add as a secondary one. Same with the belt
Belt holsters
if they somehow get belted scabbards to work in this game id actually nut
We should keep in mind the the theme is a later 15th, bascinets and plate of such design would be a little out of place
great bascinets could work
yep^
such a cool harness
Indeed!
Took me too fucking long to realize that those aren’t oculars and they’re just ornate gems or something
Sallet my beloved
The bevor killer
Reminds me of this guy heh
