tabards are easiest to find in hall matches
you need to go to the in-game armourer to add armour to the shoes manually, some shoes can't have the armour added.

I think my best piece of advice for you when fighting lower tier npcs is to just use an axe. they're extremely overpowered

Yeah, think also brings to my next advice, which is just to play with player damage set to the lowest. Doesn't really matter if it's "cheating" since you'll still get killed by bs hits, but at least it's not EVERY single hit. It also makes zombies do no damage, if you don't want to deal with losing your character forever
