yeah I think taking two or three links out of the chains of the one handed flails would make a massive improvement to the handling. There's a lot of slack in the chain right now, which does allow you to build a lot of momentum, but also kinda gets in the way when you're trying to rebound for a second hit at close range

In most games you can alt f4 and not lose progress, half sword will save before it closes the game, there is literally no reason to have that. Luckily i had the gear insured but muscle mass takes a long time to gain legitimately.

I finally procured a jack in a high rank, it's amazing how rare they are for being the best shirt, might take the chains off for a harness. The literal only thing that can take it down completely is a rondel which only the most experienced combatants can get. I've wanted to insure one of these for so long because they are just roided armed doublets.

I feel like nobody tries the riot police style enough, It works better in freeplay because your weapons don't disappear. It's where you bring a tower shield and a mace, but a heater shield works too. The goal is to do non lethal strikes like the arms and legs, in my original style i would drop the weapons and grapple them when i need to.

personally I always found the alt stabs to be more structured. Willie really locks his wrists up when you hold alt (which is why it's good for parrying) and it allows you to push other swords aside a bit easier. I will absolutely agree that the keybind being alt is atrocious. Fortunately EA gave us the ability to change the keybind, and it feels much better on a mouse button, so alt stabs feel pretty good with longswords. Unfortunately now nobody really uses alt grips with one handed weapons since it's so situational now. One step forward, to steps back

I think it depends a lot on the balance of the weapon you're using, but a combination of body movement and double click thrusts is the best way to maximize your range and give your stabs a lot of power. I usually find that just using the mouse to thrust upwards requires you to be quite close to get it to land consistently

the trick to dealing with pretty much every buckler is to just cut to their weapon side as much as possible and constantly circle to the left as you fight. they pretty much always have a shorter weapon, so it's not very difficult to deal with on it's own, and focusing on attacking from and moving to the left will keep their shield further out of play

I find it to be a bit of a mixed bag with arming swords. I mainly use this arming sword, which is a direct port of my demo arming sword, so it has a scale value of 1 for every component instead of the default (which is quite blade heavy if I'm remembering right). It might just be due to the balance, but I find with the extra length typical of an arming sword, it struggles a bit more to overcome the leverage when cutting from side to side using alt grip. It still works, but I usually only do it mid-way through a swing when my sword is already up to speed because it feels a bit sluggish, whereas I can hang out in alt and cut quite quickly using a shorter messer. I use alt partway through this clip to pull my sword back a bit, and that's really all I use it for with arming swords.

Interesting, weapon weight/balance definitely plays into how viable it is but I’ve hardly ever tried performing cuts from alt I use it almost strictly for parrying overhead strikes, especially from polearms

Definitely can be sluggish from a lower guard too, especially with a blade-heavy sword it’s like the arm moves faster than the sword and makes you rise up with the blade pointed sideways or even downwards

Just wondering, is the thrust mode with one-handed weapons supposed to be like a defensive stance?

yea, that's intentional. it like reverses the mouse position

it's a combat modifier so it can vary by weapon

Cuz the way the weapon is raised when holding Alt makes it seem like your character is attempting to block an incoming overhead strike

you can do rapid downwards cuts with it if you smash the modifier button
