I think the potential reason for people's polearms and poleaxes to be all wonky when they swing then is because they are swinging it left and right too quickly. I tested this and sure enough, you have more control over your weapons if you pace yourself and not swing your weapons frantically.

In the demo, you could turn normally at the speed of your mouse. This could be abused to add a lot of power to kicks. So the dev's fix to that was making turning cost stamina, and have limited speed. Its a good fix, but it affects other aspects of the game a little much imo. If they added a neck turning feature to the game, it wouldnt buff kicks, or any other weapons for that matter, and it would solve the problem of not being able to look around quickly
