Polearms have the momentum of a truck at the base of the weapon, maces can barely be swung by the AI, shields clip and spin around in circles, sword weight feels wrong, limp wrists, AI dies too easily on near minimum damage.

I think this may be the true future of gaming. We've reached a point where graphical fidelity can't really get any better, it's pretty much exceeded real life (just look at stills from GTA 6) - so the next areas that I see improving is something like, combining Half Sword with Mount and Blade. Creating a game that has Half Sword's fully physically simulated combat with battles on the scale of Bannerlord. As well as in an actual true open-world setting. Stuff like that.

Computers are no where near able to handle something like that right now, but I imagine in a couple of decades we may see some progress towards projects similar in scale to something like that.

I play bannerlord a LOT. I have a great mod that adds a lot of aspects of Crusader Kings into it, and another mod that adds a camera and command system similar to Total War series. Now it just needs halfsword physics and it would absolutely be the perfect game for medieval fans
