Pole-arm with the hook on the end, max the handguard size. Put a spike on the forward side and a blunt hammer on the other side. Make it heavy (you can use copper (or gold if ur loaded) as the "decorative material" to add a little weight). Longer lengths and heavier weights make things unwieldy and costly on your stamina, but hit much harder if you can land good hits. When using the halfsword/"halfpole" grip you want to make sure the spike is facing forward so you can stab them in the side of the helmet. Halfsword grips make heavier weights easier to handle by far, so having a max length max weight copper pole-arm in this configuration tends to be the meta.

i've tried similar moves (usually with halfsword stance) what almost always happens is A. the war staff cleaves through my sword anyway, B. the barbs get my ass and im down, or C. the willie just lifts it back up and immediately overheads again (this time unblockable of course)

its very timing sensitive for warstaff, i find diving in works best for me but if its a man-at-arms tier enemy with warstaff and i have longsword theres a pretty fat chance im losing quick lmao

so far I have to say I am disappointed. the inability for your weapons to collide with you kills several momentum retaining tricks, especially for polearms. and they basically undid the responsiveness changes to trying to get up in the demo. now your guy just sits there and lets himself die. can't ever seem to use my weapons or even wiggle my arms while prone like people show on youtube, just lays there. oh you slipped on a slope and took a gentle fall into some "mud?" I guess its coma time for you.

I hope so. I got the full game finally thinking the people who said the demo was better were just blowing smoke cause they're irritated over the optimization. but nah, quite a few of them are right, the combat is just generally worse.

The combat is a bit floppy i agree, but the one fix would be adding an overall to the whole wrist strenght, wich would fix most of the problems alone
And once thats dont the combat will feel WAY better

You'll eventually have a much easier time getting up, swinging weapons, & even retaining momentum so you can hit more than one enemy at once :)
