This is a perfect example of WHEN, to parry. The opponents sword has less mass, and the arm is fully extended, meaning less capable of manipulating it easily. So the bigger sword (more mass) swats the smaller one out of the way, into a clean slices cutting off the arm.

I'm not sure anyone has polled the server to get that percentage. Majority opinion doesn't necessarily mean correct opinion anyway. Parries are definitely very useful. It's just extremely difficult to pull off consistently, especially without large, heavy weapons. With light weapons you need a combination of both high momentum and precision, which is a dialectic relationship. Deflections only need precision, but then you also need timing.

I think the main issue with longsword parries, design-wise, is the interception points being weak. Polearms can sweep through the points of contact with momentum, longswords only catch most angles with stationary poses
