using this clip as example, you first have to start by winding up with the head pointed left, then right as you start to swing right(towards the enemy) tap x to switch grip and continue dragging the mouse through the swing with a slight upward flick

its all about the momentum leading into the first windup to the left, if you dont have it you dont get the snappy flick

keep in mind that it's not just about stopping the bullet from going through the armor. Getting hit like that even with armor can still break ribs and what not. It's like getting hit full strength with a mace, but from range. They initially tried to make armor thicker to stop bullets from piercing but it resulted in it being too heavy and expensive and eventually they just moved away from armor altogether

Idk how modding works, but theres this early access game that just came out called bladesong. You forge weapons with pretty good freedom and actual bladesmiths have good things to say about it. But you can download your creations as stl files
