Your connection still travels from over WAN through whatever VPN you're using to their network. It can help but there's always latency unfortunately
Playing together on the same actual LAN would be if you have two computers on the same internal network together, like in your house or some such. It's why LAN parties were (still are? not sure I never went to any) such a big deal, and why they host Esports stuff in the same building afaik. There's still latency here too but the devices are so close together it's very minimal

Yea I dont even see why we pre order as a consumer anyway. I get it from a business point of view. But us as consumers, it makes no sense. A trash cosmetic or two. Woo
