Halberds and poleaxes might look similar but there are some key differences. In general Halberds are much longer than poleaxes. The axe head on poleaxes is not meant for striking and sometimes didnt even have an edge, it was mostly used to push/pull and in other ways control the opponent and their weapon.

Best we have heard so far is, Proper Multiplayer was not part of the plans, and is still not planned. They may revisit the idea in the future, but the current team does not have the resources or tools to properly implement it. So they may need to bring in external resources to do it in the future if they decide they want to do it.
