I would imagine that damage to player and npc sliders would have everything to do with actual damage. The gore settings would only have to do with graphical & physics settings. The reason i ask is because im playing on Gruesome settings with the default dam to npc and dmg to player settings, and my buddy is playing on Grotesque with default dmg to player and dmg to npc settings. Hes trying to tell me that im playing on easy mode because of this.

He'd be wrong. Maxed gore could be "riskier" since you can lose a lot easier, but it also lets you cheese easier by slipping in a random strike on a nonvital and removing arms/hands with barely a hit

The fatal crashes in the Ultimate challenge are primarily due to an issue with a 3rd party plugin that is being used for blood.
For most users disabling blood using the blood slider in the gore options resolves this issue.

the biggest problem i have w the game rn aside from the placon is how bad it runs, im running a rx 7800 xt and playing any of the ffa gamemodes makes me lag a LOT, i go from around 150 fps on to 40-50, not to mention when i play in t3 where everyone is bleeding galons and the blood lags a lot aswell

It makes it difficult to understand where your arms and weapon are, especially once grappling gets involved.
But I find it much easier to judge distance and I can more intuitively understand where the center of my screen is, which helps with stabs.
Also the left arm feels more equal to the right arm in first person, since you get the same amount of visual information.
If we could customize the third person camera position I wonder if centering it more could offer a best of both worlds.

It does cause issues in the abyss too. If I remember the explanation right, they're relying on a 3rd party UE plugin to get their gore system working, but it does not play nice with their method of making bodies dissolve to bones and fade out (ultimate challenge and abyss). They're sticking with the latter method and thus making a home grown solution for the gore. Should be ready for EA release
I like to think it's some funny null error when child pieces of the model have to get culled. It's a baseless guess but for some reason it makes me laugh at the idea
