The fatal crashes in the Ultimate challenge are primarily due to an issue with a 3rd party plugin that is being used for blood.

For most users disabling blood using the blood slider in the gore options resolves this issue.

We are working on a more permanent solution.

beating him down with your fists is surprisingly easy once you get the first strike in

beggars are rank 1 so there's no "value" to recover

there's a handful of background stats, and health is one of them drained by bloodloss/vital injury, death is when your HP is 0, anything else is an incapacitation resulting in only losing your points

it's known as "phantom forces", basically when two colliders become entangled (overlapping), it wants to push them apart. That "pushing" force can feedback itself if other sections of the constraint (meshes joined together via a physics "pin") keep it from actually being ejected. The result is an errant force applied that won't go away until the entanglemet is solved

like one of the reasons they chose havok is that it gives you the tools to paint tessellation on your colliders. What that means for something like half sword would be modelling actual impact dents and shearing metal on armor, basically for free in terms of resource intensity

that's the thing, usually licensing comes in tiers and most people don't need advanced solutions, just something to allow simple shit like "gun magazine fell on the floor" or "box gets flung in explosion". Games that have physics and ESPECIALLY intimate constraint interaction as a main draw suffer if you decide to save some cash and go with some 2012 package license

All things considered, he's obviously really smart with this stuff and developed these models internally for putting libraries through the wringer so that they can make a decision. They ended up paying big bucks to license top of the line Havok. Apparently it does insanely well with these tests. These are the ones he posted to say "yup, we've made our choice"

when we got the product in hand, I did some limit testing and crash reporting to help refine it. It's insanely performant too. I have videos of my own tests and I'm able to collide ten thousand meshes or more with no phantom forces, no crashes, and a surprising amount of framerate

last post on this because I've spammed up the channel enough as it is, but here's one of the tests I did. It was something like 9200 meshes (24 or 36 triangles each I don't remember), each emitting a pointsource light. All interacting and lighting themselves and each other, inside the game engine and thus not a vacuum test. It goes to show that spending big bucks on big boy libraries makes a world of difference and worth considering. I want this game to be the best it can be and this stuff matters.
