It's not a rage game because the enemies are equally as glassy as you are

In that sense it's just incredibly punishing, and fights can end hilariously quick in either direction

at least until armor starts being relevant to you

eh, in some sense. But skillful play is rewarding in itself so the individual fights might not be rewarding but getting consistent wins becomes the rewarding part

you die less, you win more, you take less damage so you can prolong fights against stronger enemies

when they try to stab you your sword should push it to the side or get pushed upwards by the sword guard

then you just rush and halfsword them to death
