I'm struggling, my fights are nothing compared to yours, even though I've been playing since the first demo

try to stay just out of range of your opponent as much as you can, there is a little golden zone where he will still swing at you yet will not be able to hit you, allowing you to quickly move it, deliver a clean cut while he is open and then step out before he can react, try to pay attention to the way that he moves, for instance if he raises his sword up to the left that means he is about to swing from there, makes it much easier to parry. there are a lot of subtleties to it but once you get them it becomes much easier to read how the fight is going and what you can and cannot get away with, also knowing some useful guards is helpful, i suggest using the ones in this post https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3437298388 by SamOfSaturn

another thing you can do is try to leave yourself open to attacks, this will bait willie into rushing you, at which point you simply step to the side and deliver a cut to his upper torso

Any of the spiky maces, specifically the extra spiky one handed and two handed.

They not only do high blunt damage, but even if you don't swing hard enough and whiff on a helmet, it cuts their neck, arm, etc.

It does make sense you'd play at low damage though. Have you tried playing at high damage but using halfsword enhancer and enabling enemy infinite consciousness?

It will let you get multiple strikes in without them getting knocked out.

I don't know how common knowledge this is but I found turning off mouse acceleration (or pointer precision in windows settings) really made my gameplay better. It felt way more precise to swing weapons, I found attacking the head or any other part of the body much easier. I actually felt a flow when using my weapons.

alright dude. I always turn off mouse acceleration in games but I didn't know that its enabled by default on windows. its also called pointer precision (which makes no sense, it makes your inputs less precise). its something very easy to miss, its hidden in other menus in the settings.
