judging by the look i THINK it's a 2d particle based system and blood doesn't really despawn so those particles build up quickly. But for the ultimate challenge i think it's also because there are so many gear pieces that are lying around colliding with things which means there's probably a lot of physics going on in the background that might not need it.

Now the method is against shields. No matter what shield. When u see switch to the second swing that actually connected. From that stance u can swing over the shield into the neck almost every time to a point of it being cheesy

If u miss, do a low leg sweep from the left back to right to hit the leg as u step back and try again

The half sword hold it also a good fun one to master with a pol hammer although super challenging. U use the bottom of the spear or halberd to act as a strike pushing the weapon of the enemy away. Follow thru using the blade end for a strike to cut.

yeah if you can get the timing right you can dodge it by just rotating your body in halfsword mode, they'll whiff, and then if your aim is true you can jam it in their shoulder or throat

Another parry/riposte I like to do against topheavy weapons, usually battleaxe but sometimes useful against voulge if you do a sideways version of it
