You gotta fly your cuts straight, try not to wobble your mouse when striking, follow through, flow from one stance to the next, and keep that momentum through near-continuous movement. The flow from stances (positioning the hew, parrying) is mainly circular motion, whereas the flow of strikes is linear.

This is the Meyer's Square. It is used to practice cuts. The numbers are used for routines.

The Training Dummy conveniently has a Square shield on it. You can do the same sword drills with the Training Dummy as you can with a Meyer's Square.

First mistake is looking around.

They always spawn where your camera is facing.
But they'll sometimes be slower to approach you, which is the exact sliver of time where youd start looking around for them, allowing them to sneak up on you since you are no longer facing their spawn location.
