Kick is always my preference for putting distance.
Just think of pushing off the enemy, position yourself accordingly and kick.

You'll launch backwards and your opponent will usually stagger for a second if you land a good kick. Plenty of breathing room to reorient

The only downside is risking getting your legs chopped, but usually I pin down my enemy's weapon before launching off them

there should be polearms but you need to reroll

if you can place accurate hits blunt weapons are great in higher tiers
