this is why when dealing with enemies with sharp weapons, you need to be extremely careful about approaching, without armor, any sharp weapon can kill you nearly instantly, even if its a shoddy knife, so remember how frail you are and how one misstep can bring your doom, be patient and study how far the enemy weapon can reach you

1- he doesn't have a helmet, he is quite tall but if you strike above, he is going to take the full hit to the head
2- he has a large weapon that is heavy
the reason he is so difficult is that none of the weapons the commoner class has outranges him, even the longest longsword is shorter than his greatsword (you can circumvent is by playing as a peasent with the pitchfork)
so, what you do is either hit him with the head with the longest thing you have, or get closer than his effect sword range after a swing and then cut his neck or stab him in the upper torso

yeah, greatswords are like that, its a very risky tactic, but when death is on the line and you only have one weapon, you gotta take your chances
i kind of suck with a buckler but its an extremely effective defense tool

so for unarmored enemies or enemies with little armor, i usually go for simple two handed, i reccomend looking up a few real life guard stances for swords and seeing how it would work in a fight, but usually if you keep your distance and swing in vital spots, you'll win
for armored opponents i do half swording, only effective way to use a sword against a knight, it gives you a lot more control of the point of the sword and lets you stab very precisely, which is great for getting into the eyeslots of helmets or small gaps between the shoulders

i use the largely defensive german style that relies on swift, flensing strikes, clueless focuses on the japanese stances as it would appear, and i know a friend that mostly likes the more offense oriented italian stances
