After some training in free mode I am way better at dealing with spears and polearms when I have a longsword, useful for the ultimate challange since it seems I get to face those a lot, it does seem like I do less damage in the ultimage challange though or that the AI doesn't give up as easily. if you want to go from middle guard, then you should probably move your mouse at a slightly upwards angle, but mainly horizontally.
same with if you're attacking from above, but the effect is sort of reversed. you go at a slightly downwards angle for a very diagonal strike.
i wouldn't reccomend going straight down because that's innacurate, so go at a slight angle at the very least.

Make sure youre holding shift to give Willie his fighting stance, a general rule of swordfighting is if you're attacking you move forward with it. But that also depends on what your opponent is doing, if he's moving forward you should be moving back.

I really should adjust my playstyle to not be so hyper offensive, but the game as is kinda just... Isn't conducive to really sitting down and practicing defense without going in and out a lot. Sure arrow time helps, but eh.
A lot of my time is spent with maces and hammers. Polemace/hamemrs just... Don't feel fun or even effective so I avoid em.
Wish I could find hema videos for polearms, those are my favorite. Also wish the physics were put back to what they were in playtest for spears, billhooks and such as they just performed better and more realistically.
