The boss mode is called gauntlet. If already have it selected then some of the classes will be greyed out otherwise you can select it on the right of the main menu. Freemode is the mode where you have access to all classes but there is no bosses or progression

This. Had same issue: crashes, low fps (granted, my PC is pretty much a potato now), the usual. Turning off blood sucks, but it makes the game more playable. Hopefully, it will be better optimized to run better on weaker hardware (if not, oh well) by the time the full release comes out.

SSR is screen-space reflections and the shiny full plate armor will look less pretty but like... its not like youre suddenly playing a game from 2008 or something. its just not that shiny/reflective and doesnt have any real time reflections on it

alright SO small tech talk: the default lighting rendering solution in Unreal Engine 5 is something called Lumen, which is a lightweight raytracing/SSR method. Thats why UE5 games always seem to perform badly, because this is the default and changing off it takes effort

so its less that "they left raytracing on", more that they would need to specifically make a non-raytracing lighting solution

You can use the knives to stab with after you parry with your larger primary like showin in that clip i posted earlier but yeah, ranged weapons tend to rule unless youre good at stabbing. Or use grappling to set up your stabs.

Its a known bug. The blood and gore cause a fatal crash, turning it down or off tends to prevent it.

You have to account for the skeleton, bones can deflect your blade if its not a straight enough angle. But once you get good at stabbing, its the most cheese early game weapon next to the pitchfork.

game wise. Arms and legs bones work differently from the chest, its particularly noticable with small weapons like axes and daggers where youll see the blade glance off rather than actually penetrate on some swings/stabs

i assumed this was due to the trunk being roundish, wide, and generally moving away from you and/or strafing you

whereas arms are quite often moving towards you and are much smaller relative to your weapon

really don't think ribs are an obstacle for stabbing in-game

I already know that by the single fact if you hold alt and just hold your weapon forward and rush in your enemy, no matter what enemy is it if he isn't armored you got some chance of just easily killing

for precise aiming of stabs you can pre wind up a stab

when you're safe, ready weapon, hold alt, and extend your stab at least about halfway

let go of alt

now you can tap alt to auto stab to same length

I like to look at 'guards' as positions. I feel like calling them guards leads to believing they are static, or mainly a defense. If you see them as positions in a series of movements, you can start looking at how they transition to each other. And once you start focusing more on the movements rather than the static positions, it comes together much better.
