Just downloaded the demo. When I play the "normal" game I start as beggar and have won the first 3 fistfights I face the Champion. Finally I bested him and I become a farmer. If I lose a battle as farmer I get sent to abyss. If I lose there I become a beggar again.
Is there no way to save my progress as a farmer...or do I alway start from beggar?

If thats the case it makes it very hard to make it up the ranks.

entirely unusable?

I beat the gauntlet and it feels absolutely terrible to use them; its the exact same issue as the polehammer but amplified a thousandfold

You need to get a perfect strike with EXTREMELY high mouse sensitivity to have any chance of actually killing them the 'intended' way with the weapon, even while half-swording the large poleaxe

Meanwhile if you swing with the butt of the pole you can straight up instakill people, much like the polehammer

Yeah it's basically a meme at this point to my knowledge, staff-striking is way more effective than actually using the blade or hammer of most long weapons.

It's actually to the point the Baron struggles to use his own weapons (the NPC one) too which is hilarious

usually you can just grab whatever polearm you want and slip beneath his guard -> push pole to neck for a few seconds and he instantly surrenders

because his AI literally cant smack you with the weapon while you're close LOL

its that heavy and unusable even for the boosted strength his npc has

So I just checked the FaQ in order to figure this out, but wasn't able to see it there. My current problem is, that my game tends to get a fatal error in the last level of the game || (where you have to fight through all the ranks) ||. This means I can not exactly finish the game. Another interesting thing I realized is, I don't actually crash or anything like that, but I only get a pop up saying there occoured a fatal error and once I close that window or press "OK", the game turns off--however when I do nothing, the game continues to run, but without me being able to do anything. I was wonder if this is an issue which happens a lot to other players, and if there is a way to avoid it.

single left click to change the stance youre in, this will give you a more centered position
then do the alt thing or double click to thrust
you'll have a little less trouble lining up your thrusts like this

Yeah, just saying playing with a long weapon is much smarter because the risk of you dying is much lower. While this is a somewhat cowardly way of fighting, it is the safest by far. So a spear would be better than a long sword.
