I found that in the demo the spear you can find from one of the 2nd tier enemies works really well until you reach the full armor enemies, around tier 4. Then I switched to the two handed mace, which works wonders.

You can get some freaky stabs if you try to dual hand while swinging your off hand, allowing your sword to jerk inside enemies
