One thing I've struggled with is achieving meaningful vertical and angled strikes

The issue I'm.running into is that despite my efforts, my strikes curve and also
They twist my field of view.
Even worse with doing uppercut strikes.

I've found instances where I'm trying to practice repeated vertical downwards strikes

And.. the result is... My mouse view going lower.. and lower..

Do you have camera lock on? I'd recommend it for that reason

Also, mouse orientation matters quite a lot. if your mouse is angled, you'll find that your strikes pull. Alternatively, tapping Alt goes quite a long ways

It can at times, holding shift to actually plant your feet will help generate a bit more power in your swings. It takes a bit to feel out but you'll get there. I struggled a bit at first as well

Also don't be afraid to experiment and screw around, sometimes you'll find a niche little trick to keep up your sleeve. Collect enough and suddenly the game is less fishing basic strikes and more maneuvering between defense and your techniques like a proper fighting game

The way slicing limbs/body parts/heads works right now is it dupes the part you cut off. Which is why often times when you slice willie in half his scream is distorted. If you cut off a head or limb try kicking where it should be on his body, you will notice its still there but invisible.

SPEAKING of cuts

the one thing im REALLY trying to replicate is the snap cut/ moullinete i.e where you flick the object forward by using mostly just the top control fingers, with the pinkie squeezing to cause it to, well flick forward

one of the shortcomings of this game is that mittlehaus are like, way better than they are in reality because like, doing the diagonal strikes is hard and using steps for more distance and power just isn't all that important in the game
