I feel like when they grab my arm from my front like that, I should have the reach to take my dagger in my opposing arm and just go to town into their back, or into their side and neck. In any reality other than Halfsword grabbing your enemy like that is death.

took me way too long to realize the best way to defeat that crazy spike pole or any polearm really, is to just get in with the half sword. control the polearm with your weapon as you go into the clinch and then bring your blade into them

Skeletons and bones are in the work, currently a very rudimentary system of bone snapping exists. “Hit the right spots and they can’t use said limb as good or at all.” But Willie actually has no bones besides his skull. They’re working on adding it in early access to where we will be able to break individual bones and such.

i have reduced the blood in the gore settings to make it look more realistic. I think the blood is too much when is maximum. I don't know how realistic it is, it depends what part of the body you cut but personally I will keep it reduced for now. What settings do you guys use?

Stabbing Advice 🔪

When stabbing with alt (with swords), pull your weapon in closer to your body as opposed to extending your elbow out. It's much more accurate and stable.

Alternatively If it's a two handed weapon it is recommended to hold right click first, then drag your mouse to aim the weapon. Then from there double click and hold left mouse (you can try alt a little as well but clicking is more stable)
This is a much more stable and accurate stabbing pose, and a proper halfsword thrusting stance.

To practice your aiming, there's two different ways you can keep your FOV.
Third Person- with Low FOV, so you get a closer view.
or alternatively;
First Person- with High FOV, so you get a wide view of your weapon and it's positioning.

Solution: Clean reinstall

Delete all files relating to the half sword playtest existing in your local files. Be sure to back up your screenshots folder if you took any!
Navigate to and delete the Half Sword Playtest folder located in the following directory.
C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common
Navigate to and delete the Saved folder located in the following directory.

@unreal wagon I meant a mod to select the load out, weapon and armor. There's a few of them that appear to do it but they have different installations and operate differently.

Does anyone have any tips for using the sheild and mace/sword

It feels like it just flails around

Its hard to control each arm seperately

you wanna control the sword hand only, then switch to cntrolling the shield hand when you need to block, the sword will return to a neutral position and you can move the shield freely, same goes for when in sword position, it flails around less and covers you more. Try to avoid swinging from the direction of you shield to away too, cus that will make you move your shield out of the way

overhead cuts and right to left cuts work out way better (assuming shield in left hand)

also utilize more stabbing by pressing ALT

stabbing is very strong with shields

punching with the pavise is a phenomenal blunt tool

a good hit will absolutely deck anybody regardless of what helmet they have

that too, in the fullest armor guys the easiest way to win is just run up to them, grab ther chest and start wailing on their head

their recourse is limited by your own armor c:

you can also pick up 2 pavises and just throw hands if one gets dropped by an enemy
