like with a spear, the only times i actually stab someone is by accident

when stabbing with alt (with swords), pull your weapon in closer to your body as opposed to extending your elbow out. It's much more accurate and stable.

Alternatively, If it's a two handed weapon, my recommendation is to hold right click first, then drag your mouse to aim the weapon, then from there, double click and hold left mouse (you can try alt a little as well but clicking is more stable)
This is a much more stable and accurate stabbing pose, and a proper halfsword thrusting stance.

to practice with your aiming, there's two different ways you can keep your FOV.
Third Person- with Low FOV, so you get a closer view.
or alternatively;
First Person- with High FOV, so you get a wide view of your weapon and it's positioning.
-# note, this works best for polearms or two handed swords

So im wondering what the hell happened to the game since the initial demo release? Did you guys scrap it and start from new? I play alot on my limited free time and I can't help but notice that everything just feels worse. Like yes we are closer to having proper combat instead of flailing arms. But the collision systems with weapons, the lag fest with gore, and just general enjoyment of the "gauntlet" like gamemode the demo was compared to the current arena like fighting.

Like what happened? What is the goal? I want to see this game progress and I don't want to shit talk anyone because I have had game dev experience myself and I know everything is a wip until it ain't, but like why does the game feel like a backstep?

the Abyss mode isn't scrapped, reason why the game feels quite different now is that they overhauled a bunch of the systems, which are still WIP

also blood should be a lot more optimized compared to the initial release so

the physics system since the demo has improved tenfold, weapons clashing are extremely accurate, especially with armour. it has a heavy impact on cpu/gpu with physics and blood. if you are in dx12, swap to dx11 and it should help. though, i hate to break it to you but you are pretty solitary in that opinion. the playtest has shown the evolution of how far the game and its physics and gore have come, and are going moving into Early Access.

It's just part of the game for now, maybe the mechanics will get even more precise as the EA releases.
But i bet with all the stances that are available, (like for example, moving your mouse in a certain position to keep your sword like horizontally tilted so it blocks hits coming down on you) really fucks with the precision.

Atleast that's my main guess as to why when you try and swing, it goes slightly more up or down, just has that unwanted variation to it.

essentially I was fighting a spoilance, and one of the dudes grabs on to me surrendering for the whole match, I kicked him over 30 times, punched him around 40 times, hit him with a hammer 20 times, and he still wouldnt fucking let go. I couldnt get the greatest swings cause he was grabbing my arm and preventing it

Not really, it's all about the position you have in accord to the enemy and the way you're positioning your sword.
You could probably win 10 games in a row if you just did the proper technique.

I can agree, it's more noticeable when in the first tier down, willie grabbed me many times but recently i just kick him in the legs 4-5 times and he just lets go and plops on down, kissing the beautiful half-sword vegetation

Dude that fence barrier has gotten me killed on the occasion that Willie charges me and I try to dodge.

I'll shift+run backwards, and slam into it forgetting how close I am to it and then the recovery time from that is long enough to take a sword to the throat
