A fantastic strategy to stab with polearms and two handed Swords, is to hold right click and drag your mouse to aim, then double click left mouse and hold it. You'll get a much more stable and accurate stabbing pose. It's also a proper halfsword stabbing stance.

It's best for initial contact, and execution poses when they're on the ground. Try it out!
