Press x to swap your weapon to the opposite side of their shield, you will have more access to their body this way. If you can damage their arm that is holding the shield, they won't be able to hold it up

Tap f8 or any hotkey you want to record any length of clips (default is 1 minute), and it has a built in editing software. If you wanna view them from your phone and send them like I'm doing, you gotta "upload" them from your PC, unless you pay for the premium edition, which auto syncs it to your phone

Real advice tho try and keep your sword in a "ready" position towards the centerline of your character. I think there's some light autoguard but I could be wrong. This basically lets you either make smaller movements to try and block/parry or make quicker attacks by having the sword already good to go.

Some positions don't really work with this games format because combat happens fast and can be a little janky so things like the fools guard and near guard don't really work well.

Look up some hema guards and try and get your sword in a position similar to the ox or longpoint guard

haha you dont have to google hema guards to learn parrying in this game, for weapons larger than yours you should active parry, which means swatting, deflecting manually with your weapons, its just something that is practiced

to parry smaller weapons you can use the games passive parry system, when you hold your weapon in the middle close to your character and he auto adjusts to block for you, its harder to do this with weapons larger than yours because they will pass through your guard since the passive parry radius is so small

It's mainly the transition to the half-swording stance after the initial rotation. I have the general motion down, and I can land hit pretty effectively doing this with both polearm and greatsword, but there are several clips where your willy is able to half-sword smoothly after a transition to the left-hand forward grip that my willy simply doesn't wanna do

the secret is I never halfsword a polearm, I actually use the back of the head of the polehammer in a backwards swing, the reach of a halfsworded Polearm is just about the same reach of a back swing
