Hold right click with your polearms and swords, you can aim them perfectly like this

From here, the next step is to just double click left mouse. It stabs a lot more accurately than alt stabbing. It's a technique that once I found out about, I've been telling as many people about as possible, cause it's game changing in how you play.

It's most helpful when folks are on the ground, but situational in combat

I don't have confirmation but I do believe they have a one handed flail in development. Frank and Ivan had failed to find a 15th century flail for the longest time, then, when I had sent them a reference from a 15th century bardiche that I wanted in the game (I'm a bardiche freak), that display in Suzdal Russia just so happened to have a 15th century flail with it as well. Franky was immediately interested in it.

Spears feel horrible to play against in the demo

They suck in the player's hand, but damn near every death I take in the demo is to an npc with a spear. They just magnetize to an instakill hitbox

The armor is designed to avoid gettign hit. That's historical. Plate Mail armor is designed to block sharp edges and, to some extent, thrusts. Chain Mail is designed to deflect shashes and some thrusts. Gambison is designed to dampen blunt force impact

Yes but the armor still holds to some extent. You have to have very precise thrusts to find the weak point. Those abuse weakpoints, such as joints in the armor. Or, if you have a weapon that is strong enough, slowly create a weakpoint and punch through, like a modern SABOT round does

yes but the rondel is not very easy to wield in game. Even with the rondel though, the armor still takes quite a bit of time to get through. My point still stands, you wanted to make the enemy bleed. In order to do so, you have to get past the armor. The armor is going to do it's job, so getting past it requires precision or luck

I'm playing a lot and I have these impressions of what is weird/not looking optimized (bear in mind I LOVE the game and I like everything else):
-combo shield/ buckler hand weapon: seems less intuitive/precise when it comes to strike with weapon compared to polearms/two handed sword
-trusts need a dedicated button instead of this complicated ALT/double click stuff
-left hand dagger should stab by default and not cutting when using it
