I wanted to try to get some opinions again about what to get for a new motherboard.
TLDR:
Is a motherboard with bifurcation and pcie 4.0 x8/x8 enough for 3440/1440p HDR 240Hz (120base X2). Or do I need pcie 5.0 and have to invest 250€ more. 190€ (https://www.asus.com/de/motherboards-components/motherboards/proart/proart-b650-creator/) pcie4 vs 450€(https://www.asus.com/de/motherboards-components/motherboards/proart/proart-x870e-creator-wifi/) pcie5 (yes I searched alot and those are my only options for my needs).
Right now I´m on:
Render RX9070XT + LS FG RX5700XT
AM4 Mainboard 4.0 x 16(CPU) + 4.0 x 4(chipset) with Ryzen 7 5700X
3440x1440p 240Hz
With HDR on I cannot hit 120 base with LS FG because the x4 slot gets saturated (it has to handle my USB slots and second nvme too). I´m capping around 90 FPS as of now.
The RX5700XT is definetly able to achieve my wanted goal according to feedback from here.
I could maybe hit that if I´d invest in a AM4 Mobo with dual x8. But that is a waste of money since my CPU is getting to weak for me too and needs to be replaced.
So I´m already looking for deals for mobos and cpus to go into AM5...later RAM too after the crysis ended. Until then I´m playing with HDR off and deal with my just sufficient CPU.
Question:
Is a pcie 4.0 x8/x8 mobo enough and I can save money with that? Or do I need a pcie 5.0 x8/x8 mobo?
