#Unsure about motherboard support

Second slot is 3.0 x4
and would that be fine?
Depends resolution and fps you’re targeting.
But I just got a m.2 slot adapter to run at 4.0/x4 and it’s leagues better than 3.0/x4
Also my precious slot was on the chipset vs being on the CPU where it is now. That also helps a lot
My current monitor is a 1080p but I was looking to upgrade to a 1440p in the near future, no plans for 4k
as for frame rate, I’d be looking towards getting around 144-165fps max
Mind me asking what your setup is?
It’s doable but not buttery smooth.
I’m running 3080 / rx6600 as secondary and a 3400x1440 panel.
So my issue at 3.0 was when I wanted to do other things like watching twitch or streaming on discord to friends. It would lag my LSFG because it was too much I guess
And my aim is 68/136 no HDR
now on 4.0/x4 I can easily do all of the above and hit 114/228 if I want to and not notice any stutter in my games.
I would either use the m.2 slot if you have one available. I have one linked to my cpu that’s 4.0/x4. or just get a dual x8 motherboard
Just checked the manual and my mobo does have a 4.0 x4 directly linked to the cpu, but I was just wondering if it isnt really the same thing if I connect it to one of the 4.0 x4 that is connected to the chipset?
Its just that my 1tb m2 (and only one atm) is connected to that m2 slot thats directly connected to the cpu
So I’d have take it apart and put it in another place for what doesnt seem too significant
If you do have a 4.0/x4 even if it’s on chipset I would try it
If it feels good for you then that should be enough
