#MASSIVE STUTTERING FIX!

“g-sync support” Bug!!

I just found a solution to a massive problem that I have been having with massive stutters in LSFG frame generation. I have a g-sync monitor, with g-sync enabled, so naturally I enabled the “g-sync support toggle”. For some reason, that significantly degrades the performance of the frame generation making it not smooth and even stuttery on 2x lowest quality. Just last night (2/14/25) I tried untoggling “g-sync support” and now it runs like butter. The only stuttering happens on high frame generation with intense graphics. I don’t know how best to notify the developers so I’m trying this.

I have also noticed better performance with WGI capture over DXGI, sorry if I butcher the exact spelling not on my laptop right now, with the “g-sync support” toggle. But, if I have the “g-sync support” toggle on, then DXGI performs slightly better. I speculate this reason might be why there is a small divide between which is better/faster.

PC SPEC:

Windows 11
1920x1080 360hz g-sync
RTX 4060 Mobile
96GB RAM
i9 13900hx
2 1 TB NVME

Having same issue

#

G-sync support is borked somehow
120hz display
60fps cap in game -> 120fps lsfg => This works fine.
58fps cap in game -> 90-115 LSFG => FPS goes all over the place

This is while the gpu still has performance to spare and happens on both WGC and DXGI so idk what's happening

@dense jetty @vast cosmos Try increasing max frame latency and setting sync to allow tearing

dense jetty
#

Tried that, doesn’t help much. G-sync support is the culprit

I’ve tried almost every combination of the capture apis, frame latency’s, and vsync/default/tearing

What GPU driver version?

dense jetty
#

I can boot up and check rq

pliant tinsel
#

If you're on recent drivers, maybe an update broke it

dense jetty

GeForce Game Ready Driver: version 572.42 (newest). But I've been having the problem for months and just thought my gpu wasn't good enough

Does gsync work at all with gsync support disabled in LS?

dense jetty
#

I don't know but it is night and day difference regardless of gsync enabled

#

I never thought to check the toggle since I thought it was a given to have enabled, so that could be a possibility as to why it hasn’t been discovered yet

What’s VRR?

#

Ahh looks like freesync and gsync are forms of VRR?

pliant tinsel
# dense jetty What’s VRR?

Variable Refresh Rate. That's what Gsync, freesync, and Intel VRR (formerly Adaptive-sync) are. It's essentially where the displays refresh rate matches the framerate of the game, handling screen tearing and preventing mismatch judder

How can i verify that Gsync is working with LS?

pliant tinsel
#

Gsync support in LS is a workaround to a bug in Nvidia drivers that prevents VRR from syncing to the LS overlay

In the Nvidia Control Panel, I have G-sync enabled but only for fullscreen

pliant tinsel
#

Download an app called Dynamic Refresh Rate Tool from the Microsoft Store. It tracks and graphs refresh rate history. Set duration to 1 minute and smoothing to 1, and take a screenshot of the graph of some gameplay with and without LS

LS 4x, no fps cap, 100% Resolution, gsync support toggled ON

LS 4x, no fps cap, 100% Resolution, gsync support toggled OFF

Disabling gaync support disables VRR

#

And fixes the stuttering issue

#

It's specificially the vrr and g sync support toggle thats causinf this

Can confirm - disabling the g-sync support button fixed my stutters and frame drops as well.

try:
Enabling G-Sync Support in LSFG
Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings
Disabling G-Sync in Nvidia Control Panel in whatever game your trying to play (Monitor Technology > Fixed Refresh)
Ensure G-Sync is still Enabled in NVCP (Set-up G-Sync > Enable for Full Screen Mode)

G-Sync may be running into issues trying to sync the game and overlay simultaneously? tin foil hat shi

It some weird interaction, first noticed in KCDII.
toggling settings on and off and somehow it fixes itself untill the next clean game restart when it is back to the weird behaviour.

# dense jetty No LS

This is already extremely unstable without LS. Seems like a driver update broke Gsync in general

ahhh, i stayed on 572.16

#

g-sync seems stable for me

may sound stupid but try playing with discord not running at all
