#Quick question.. which should I be using now? DXGI or WGC?

this didn't answer my question though. So I guess a thread is necessary. I'm wondering from a technical perspective which is better for latency, fluidity etc. mostly latency though. which is best and which is more stable as well. I know since the latest windows 11 update they changed how things work but then I heard the dev did things to counter this. So which is technically better to use if you're trying to minimise latency
Why would we do your job for you
And when gaming or windows is concerned, there is no definitive answer. You should know that
Only thing to know, both work
which you can just test and see (same result)
This is just being lazy, nothing else if you ask me
And i see same type of posts many times
On 24h2 wgc is generally a bit faster then DXGI but before 24h2 dxgi is better
Yeah it really depends
i would say thanks but the level of toxicity that came with answers doesn't warrant one.
Topic makes no sense so the answers
Eh no it kinda does
how exactly? Really need to ask this to find out?
I mean it isn’t really explained that well in app tbh
Is it possible to create a channel for detailed info on app? Or recreating the information one?
Information delivered there does not include much
Would be though ths hasn’t really provided any detailed documentation
I could just write there instead of explaining same thing over and over
Actually I got an idea will tell you in #🪑│alpha-off-topic
Hostility, dismissiveness, and rudeness abounds.
True. I really don't get how this guy is still here after how he treated a user who only dared to ask a question.
DXGI works best with the KB5046617 update on Windows 11 24H2. WGC gives me some stutters after x4 LSFG as of today.
WGC is faster, lower latency, but should be used at fixed FPS! DXGI is slower and is mostly useful for variable FPS. Under x4 or higher FG, however, DXGI performs better because it is more accurate.
On paper this is right, however due to the computational resources needed to do more than x4, it's easy to cause the base framerate latency and low% to vary a lot. For this reason, unless you have a really good gpu, going above x4 with WGC results in stutters. Also, the latency impact of DXGI is truly negligible. For these reasons, people that don't really know how to get stable fps should always use DXGI.
This is true. I switched back to DXGI and noticed the smoothness I had been missing, as I usually use WGC with double buffering
On Windows 11 24H2, WGC is typically slightly better than DXGI in all regards. On anything before that, WGC doesn't sync to the game framerate, making it unusable unless used at a fixed base
Man, why were you so rude about this
idk what im doing wrong but for some reason wgc doesnt work on my pc at all dxgi works perfectly
If you're not on Win11 24H2 don't expect WGC to work well
im on win 10
