#Input delay measuring?
27 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
you can measure input delay through the nvidia app
that's frame latency not input latency
there are various apps to help you track input latency
cant find any
do you know any?
Actually measuring input latency requires a connection with the mouse and display, and often involves expensive equipment
You either need to build your own device to measure it or buy something crazy expensive like an Nvidia LDAT (which is pretty much just for businesses)
There's software like AMD's FLM that can measure latency with a test, but it doesn't work well with LS on all GPUs and doesn't include mouse or display latency
what kind of latency does FLM measure ? I think frame latency? if so what's the difference between that and input latency
and what kinda of tests should I do with FLM to make sure it's working fine with me?
Thanks for your time
It's pretty much just whatever latency the game has. It's good for comparing one scenarios latency to another, but take the numbers with a grain of salt.
yea that's exactly what i've been looking for
i wanted to compare latency between gsync on/off, using nvidia reflex/not using it
and different settings in LSFG see what's lower in latency
but i just heard that program doesnt work with LSFG so idk if i should even try it because i would just trust the numbers and maybe i shouldnt lol idk
Well, if you're using DXGI in LS, LS becomes noncapturable, so you'll need to use WGC. And if you're not on 24H2, you're out of luck for Nvidia cards
how can ik my win version?
AMD cards work with LS when it's using DXGI because they use the AMF capture API which can still capture LS. But on Nvidia GPUs they use DXGI which conflicts with LS
Press win + r and type winver
yea i saw my LSFG settings and i use DXGI
and im on windows 10 22H2
i have a nvidia card as well
so i guess it's not worth it to download then since it wont capture it
i wish there was a better way of measuring latency :-
Oh... Yeah, 24H2 is a windows 11 thing
Sadly, it's effectively impossible for there to be a miracle app that does this
Since hardware is a large part of the latency equation
yea maybe future monitors can calculate latency somehow if they care enough to add that as a feature in a monitor
It's a thing, but only on very few monitors, most of which are expensive af
hm so i should just follow ppl word that those stuff decrease latency and just do them i guess
